It happens all the time although if you take the meds you'll probably keep getting reactions because the meds cause hepatitis which causes reactions on those tests. If you saw some of the reasons which cause reactions then why ask what causes a reaction? Take your pick.

@fineline111 A postive diagnosis depends on where you are located. Each country has its own requirements - thus requirements for a postive result are not standardized. The Western Blot Test is supposed to pick up the presence of anti-bodies that are claimed to be specific to HIV. The test consists of bands on a strip; each band reacts to proteins that are supposed to be specific to HIV. You are testing for anti-bodies, not the presence of the virus. The results are highly unreliable.

If the person has poor health, poor nutrition when the virus is acquired, the body (immune system) is not strong enough to fight it off.

- viral load (PCR, that detects the virus itself)

- clinical appearance

There are many causes of low T-Cell count, low counts are not always associated with illness and PCR does NOT detect an actual virus. It only detects FRAGMENTS and no control was ever done so they have no way to distinguish btw endogenous retrovirus genes and "hiv". The human genome is full of retrovirus genes anyway. Finding fragments of them in a sample is no big surprise.

Annie, that's interesting about cortisol; there is evidence (There's a book about it and guess what, I've forgotten what it's called, sorry) of a causal link between the use of that creams containing corticosteroids (as often prescribed for a sore/inflamed anus), and the development of AIDS, because they cause a drop in the T-cell count.

i also tested hiv positive and took hiv drugs on and off over the course of 15 years until april 2007 when i got high speed internet and watched videos with information that was being neglected by doctors and reporters. just like this woman, i stopped taking hiv drugs and will never take them again. i believe that it was more than irresponsible for the drug companies to promote hiv drugs based on research that was fraudulent and i would very much like to present my case before a jury.

To add: I hope that more courageous people who have been labeled "HIV positive" will come out and make YouTube videos. Please, tell your stories. If you have to be anonymous, do that, but if you can reveal your identity, do that too. There should be a database of HIV survivors who are drug-free, verifiable by the administrators of the database but confidential to the outside world. It should have an interface for the public to look for experiences and advice by category.

If anyone wants to tell anyone that they are going to die, or that they have to give their babies AZT, they need to come up with the proof that this is true. This matter of a "conspiracy" is a distractor -- no one needs to claim a conspiracy if the information is right in front of people and they refuse to read it.

We met last year a healthy pregnant mother who was told to start taking two anti-retroviral pills, Kaletra (2 protease inhibitors) and Combivir (300mg of AZT and 150mg of 3TC), on the 5th month of her pregnancy. They also gave her AZT during delivery and supplied a liquid formulation (AZT syrup) to give to the baby for 6 weeks afterward. Standard practice here in Greece, following the WHO and CDC recommendations.

Some years back, a lady from Durban was living in France with a SA sportsman  playing in that country at the time. She visited the local clinic because she'd been feeling nauseous for some days. They insisted on both a pregnancy & HIV test. Both they claimed were positive, & they then forced her into taking meds to abort her foetus. Can you imagine how SICK & furious she felt when she learned that HIV was a big $CAM! I often hear of Black disadvantaged Moms who go into premature labour on ARVs!

queenastilon: They've NEVER stopped giving AZT! It's a substance BANNED for human consumption, yet they merely changed the names of the meds containing it. Go to AIDSMEDS . COM or their sister site POZ . COM & open the link of recommended HIV & AID$ meds. It's incredibly lengthy! Then do a google search for each Med & note the contents of each ~ AZT appears in most! AZT was a discarded cancer chemo drug when it killed EVERY lab mouse during efficacy testing.

Obviously it's nothing that refutes Maria, just "No, that can't be!" sort of stuff but it would still be interesting to watch him trying to defend his long-held beliefs.

Continued: Many of us HIV+'s have stopped the drugs and we are not sick or dying but are living normal healthy lives. The truth is edging forward thanks to the internet and You Tube. This wrong will be righted and people will finally stop being labeled with a sexual and incurable disease and given toxic medications for an unproven virus. Ask any AIDS doctor where is the proof for all of this and where is the epidemiology study, they say it is somewhere in Pub Med, but in fact it isn't.

Maria is correct in what she says. There is no evidence for the existence of HIV causing AIDS. Many HIV+'s have unprotected sex and their mates remain HIV-. Kidney and liver failure is what is now killing AIDS persons, a side effect of the drugs. Many are being harmed and killed by the drugs, including orphans in New York City whcih Liam Scheff broke this story. The honest doctor spoke out about ineffective HIV drug trials and suffered the consequences.
