So how does everyone like that change Obama promised ? What a bunch of stupid people. Obama was a student of Saul Alinsky. Alinsky said just keep repeating "change and hope" over and over and eventually the people will believe you, well stupid people will.

Thanks for posting this great Bruce Springsteen classic. The sheet music for Roy Bittan's wonderful piano part on "Born To Run" can be found at manymidi.com/sheetmusic.htm - a note-for-note transcription.
@stuart3455 haha, you blind fool: If you think R.E.M. is Michael Stipe, then you're right, but Michael Stipe is "only" part of R.E.M.; here you can see two other guys of this great band as said before - but I was so amused by this comment, I couldn't hold it back; very funny (lol)
I had a chance to meet REM in 2003 and asked Peter and Michael if they had covered this song at a show in Philly circa 1987. I told them I was pretty high at the time, but remembered this cover.. They looked at each other and could not remember if they did or not. One year later, this happens!! Where is Michael?
@djmcg07 the only thing better than bruce at the garden singing Born to Run is Bruce at Giants Stadium singing Born to Run. the jersey crowd brings it to a whole other level
just to clarify something for those who havent been lucky enough to see the boss in concert.. they arent booing him, they're saying bruuuuuuce. good performance though, i like mills and buck having fun onstage but where was stipe for that one?
Back in 1976, I first heard this. Sounds pretty much the same. My Dad hated me playing Springo' loud in the garage. "He can't bloody sing"..my Dad used to say. As the years passed, one of my Dad's fave songs was "Human Touch". God bless you Dad!
There were 13 bands perfoming that night. From rappers to The Dixie Chicks. Unlike me, not everyone was there to see The Boss. Mixed audience. I've seen him perform BTR probably 10-11 times live. This certainly wasn't the best response from a crowd but it was still pretty high energy. The coolest part for me was knowing that so many of these people were experiencing Bruce for the first time - and as we all know that is pure magic.
This wasn't a Bruce concert per se. Yes, there were quite a few Bruce fans in the audience, but there were a ton of other bands on the bill (REM, Pearl Jam, Dixie Chicks, Mellencamp), and many of the people may not have known Born To Run.
This particular american audience is relatively good actually. Americans get to se ethe boss that often that the audiences are genreally very laid back, and often take him for granted. European shows i have been to in Dublin, Bologna, Slane Castle, London, to name but a few have had so much more energetic crowds.

Man, Robert Wuhl was right in his explication. This would be a TERRIBLE state anthem for New Jersey.
"Baby this town rips the bones from your back. It's a death trap. It's a suicide rap. We gotta get out while we're young."
