  • hey you guys know what happens when you bitch slap an ipod classic or hit the laptop like that for the classic you shatter the drive platters, for the laptop 1 you could break or crack a key and or damage the drive also just get ur lazy ass off the couch, go buy some compressed air, and open of ur mac book and just blow out the dust or just GO AND BUY A NEW FUCKING FAN dumbasses, but if ur on a fucking plane then yes this will help

  • holly crap it actually worked!!! you are a legend mate,

this is for the macbook, for a macbook pro i had to hit it just above the f3 key (not the keys themselves but the frame above it to get my left fan working again)

    GBU

  • you rock! :)

  • how long did you guys have to hit it for?

  • @jLovee37 Not long. I had it on my desk and hit it not too hard 4 or 5 times and then my girlfriend tried and laughed and tried a few times. Then I hit it a little harder 3 or 4 times and I heard it come on. I did not think it would work but I knew the problem was the fan and read post that people opened up the mac and removed the blockage. FYI my mac was over heating and shutting off this solved that problem.

  • wow I felt stupid doing this and my girlfriend laughed but it works.

  • @brian4072001 how long did u have to hit it before it started working?

  • this is fucking brilliant !!!! it worked for me too ! love it !!

  • Am I the only one noticing that it looks like the Mac is bent around the keyboard, where he is hitting it ?

  • haha this worked for me!

  • the all time trouble shooting fix xD

  • looooooooooooooooooooooooooool! wow..speechless, will not beat on my $1000

    macbook thank you very much!

  • bro u are a machine! how the hell did you work that one out? its exam time...and i was going crazyy! thank you dude

  • Be careful. I hit my MacBook once and killed the HD.

  • @starmekitten It shouldn't. The Macbook and the Macbook pros have a accelerometer to detect sudden motion, and park the hard drive head before anything happens. Also, the hard drive goes idle if it's not in use. That's like most of the time.

  • Also works with a noisy MacBook Pro (2008) Fan! It worked just with 2 knocks! Fantastic. I think the German accent made it work better.

  • OMG. at first after watching this vid, i was like "he crazy right?", but then after a night of thinking, i tried this. IT WORKED. effin genius! hahaha!

  • is there any OTHER way to fix this?

  • thats scary haha

  • lol

  • All these people had the same problem with their macs. Apple obiously has a big problem in their hands. i dont understand how is it that you guys buy a $1000.00 computer just to end up punching it after 3 months in order to get the fan to work. just go with HP. If not then go with DELL. Come on guys.

  • @summerdying111 DELL and HP are both known for their unreliable hardware. Aside from that, they ship their computers mostly with the incompetent windows. People will be having problems with windows, its updates, antivirus, absurdly incompatibility with other 2 year older hardware/software and all that hassle in less time than hardware failure.

If you are talking about oranges, recommend other oranges then. We are talking about apple here. Come on, don't be a moron!

  • @summerdying111 Right now I own 6 macs and I've never had a problem with anyone of them. I've had way more problems with Dell and Hp computers.

  • Wow, thats all l gotta say. My Macbook black started cutting off by itself like 3 months ago and I didn't know why. After weeks of seaching for a solution this fucking easy shit did the trick.....lol. Thanks man, your a genius.

  • I set the fan control at 4000 and that seems to do the trick It will increase up to 6000 as needed but now has enuf momentum to keep spinning without the noise. I also vacuumed the air intake with a dyson vac to suck lint out. 122 surfing.

  • To avoid having to repeatedly whack your Mac to start this partially stuck or stuck fan, download/install smcFanControl. The variable fan speed is giving the problem for older fans. It is a cheap, weak, dirty, linted-up fan, & has revolved millions of times. It does not have the power to overcome this situation. By setting the fan speed high, it allows the motor to run at full power. In its preferences, select "higher speed" and set at 6000. Select & save for all power options. Whack 1x.

  • so, i was watching this video, and then started beating the shit out of that area like you said and it stopped!! i feel kinda weird now though, like i just broke it hah.

  • worked for me thanks!!!

  • Worked for me. I thought the clicking sound was my hard drive dying, saved me unnecessary repairs. Thanks!

  • SINGAPORE!!! I <3 SG!!

  • u are a legend totally

  • Comment removed

  • THANK YOU very much!!!! It worked for me too!!!

  • Hey dude, believe it or not but it worked, how crazy is that? Smack that Macbook!

  • i opened my macbook yesterday and cleaned out the fan slot, it now runs 40 degrees cooler and the battery last longer. i recommend this to anyone who knows how to open up their macbook and is not afraid to void their warranty. i will be posting a video showing the process in a few weeks if you would like to watch a demo.

  • i seriously dont recommend using this method. It may work at first, but could result on some problems down the road. In general banging any kind of electronics is not a good way to fix it.

  • fuk this is the shit...i gave it a few nudges rite in the sweet spot...fan didnt turn on straight away but after about 2 mins i heard the magic noise

  • how did you get that display up there showing the temp and fan RPM?!

  • SMCFanControl, a free program.

  • thanks man that helped.

  • It worked!!!! Thanks!!

  • WOW! It worked! Thanks buddy!

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • o my god that was crazy....i did that as i was watching it and its working!!!!!

  • Gotta hand it to you, I thought this was stupid, but it ended up working.

At least for now. But I guess in the long run, I might have to open the macbook and clean the fan or replace it...

    thanks

  • Works!!!

  • hey it worked, didnt work on my fist though, used a tv remote control, gently hit it on the 5 6 and 7 buttons. no need for too much power. btw thx d3athjam :)

  • epic win!

  • The reason its stopped is because the fan is probably very dirty, clogged up with dust and grime from running.

The only way to properly sort this is to remove the fan and clean it.

The shock of you hitting the machine jolted the fan to start spinning, i would imagine the longer you leave it the worse it will get until it will fail completely.

Best get it sorted before your machine overheats. Dont need to tell you how expensive that will be!

  • @v5dan

i've had my macbook for nearly 2 months so i dont think its a dirt problem. i carry it in my backpack and i think all of the bouncing around while i walk maybe jammed it.

but to the maker of this vid, THANKS ALOT BRO!!! my mac was running at 000rpm and 82 CELSIUS! it would shut down constantly to prevent overheating. i just had tap it 4-5 times and its at 6200 rpm and under 40 celsius!! who wouldve thought such a caveman solution would work lol. 5 stars!

  • hey whats up this is blogger murder13r. i'm currently going round youtube search for this solution. like i'm searching 4 animal chin,lol.. but yeah, i tried this. and i have 2 say this is only temporally. trust, when i say that!

take a hike, pepe le pew!!

i wishd i had 4 middle fingers.. so i can give this "waste of time" 4 "fuck you's" ⬇⬇⬇⬇

  • haha this is ridiculous.

punching kind of hurt my fist.

the karate chop method worked just as well.
