Sono said to the fans "Thank you for coming to Matenrou Opera's concert instead of Lady Gaga's on top of us!" - Because she played in a bigger concert hall not too far away from Matenrou's live. Please refrain from being rude and do not comment if you don't know what's being said.

@sunkaiwen451 Yes he is! Actually, Matenrou Opera and Lady Gaga played at the same place once in Japan. Only that Matenrou had a much smaller hall while Gaga was on top I think, and Sono said during the live that he's happy people chose them instead of Lady Gaga on top. xD

I think Anzi need a new guitar though. I know it's trivial, but that red guitar (can't really recognize the brand) sticks out like a sore thumb, it just don't match their style.

Matenrou Opera are very influenced by Sonata Arctica, HELLOWEEN, Children of bodom, and so on :) So, yes, indeed, there are many similarities. They're huge fans of those bands.

Not trying to be rude here, but I don't think you actually know the definition of mediocre. girugamesh wouldn't be half as popular as they are if they were just mediocre. Their guitars may not be flashy, but their songs are catchy and well composed. I tend to like bands who have more versatility in their catalogs. Not just a classically trained guitarist.

MUCC's new "mediocre" music is still 10 times better than what most of the younger bands are releasing, imo. I didn't see anything about newer bands? The OP was looking for vocals that don't "bother the fuck out of them". There are a bunch of younger VK bands I've found quite good. NoGoD would be on the list, Sel'm, exist†trace, girugamesh, cocklobin, SKULL, Suicide Ali, and BAELSCOPE are a few.

It took me a long time to get used to the vibrato. And I'm still not a big fan of the bands with higher pitched lead singers. Maybe you should try some bands with singers in a lower register like MUCC or BUCK-TICK? You might like them more too.

@GottaXLoveXBou Vibrato is a different kind of thing to falsetto; falsetto is to do with range, whereas vibrato is... how to describe... kind of a warbly way of singing. Dancing around the note a little. Some singers can make it sound great, others like shit. And whether you like the use of vibrato is usually very subjective. I haven't quite made my mind up about whether I like Sono's style yet, but he's okay at least ^__^

@gabi326jjk - can understand where you are coming from. Male japanese vocalists have a lot of vibration in their voices, and sounds slightly nasally. The nasal sound comes with the language, and as for the voice... not sure. Acquired taste though, and addicting as hell once you get an attachment to it.
