  • lol i bought a sega saturn for 2$ from my guitar teacher :D

  • Like the dreamcast, yet another great underrated video game machine.

  • cool

  • I miss this system. I still have it's controller but the main system was sold.

  • I still don't understand why Sega did that whole surprise bullshit. If they were going to release it early, then at least let the retailers and third party game developers know. Plus most of the good games were only released in Japan.

  • Does it mean the Roman god or the Planet?

  • @SAFWANERS The planet. You can tell because of the logo. Kind of funny how it's an electronic named after a mass in space named after a mythological being.

  • The Saturn could have been big in the US, But nooooooooooooooooooooo. BERNIE STOLAR FUCKING KILLED THE SYSTEM! I HATE HIM AND I HOPE HIS HOUSE GETS FORECLOSED AND LOSES EVERY FUCKING PENNY!!!!

  • @thelaserman999 There was too much working against the Saturn for it to ever do well here. Difficult development, poor public relations on Sega's part, it was doomed to fail. And this carried on to sabotage the Dreamcast, too.

  • @thelaserman999 you sound like gooch and DB :D but seroiusly i could have made better plans for the system

  • sorely missed

  • I miss the old days. *sigh*

  • i want to go back :(

  • My dad's the 1 of 15 people tha actually bought a saturn/

  • @Awesom3Gamer

Looks like I'm one of the fifteen as well. lol...But man, I had some great times with that machine.

  • <3

  • virtual cop 1,2 lol.

  • @Gracchi , damn, thankyou for reminding me of the name!!

I LOVED that game years ago, but I forgot the name.

  • best street fighter ever was on saturn, alpha 2, after that special moves went, crazy.

them gun cop games too with the big guns, was great too.

  • Oh the memories...

  • I Remember my Saturn! I used to play NiGHTS, Virtua Fighter, Daytona USA, and Destruction Derby. And Worms! This brings back the time when my life was good. (When i was little)

  • best start up screen for one of the best consoles,i think i'll go play some Vampire Savior now.......

  • Orville the Otter likes this Sega console. The best 'video game system of the 90s that is one of the best 32-bit consoles, rivaling with the original PlayStation and the Nintendo 64.

  • I keep playing this video over again but NiGHTS into Dreams won't start afterwards! D:

  • Brings back mems love it. Panzers dragon best game

  • Someone had already played with a Saturn ?

  • new Sega "Sega Uranus"

  • Every time I see and hear the start up screen, I see and hear Christmas morning of 1997.

    ^.^

  • This system could have had alot of potential if sega wouldn't have screwed everything up with the other crap they released before it. They also Rushed the saturn which made it very complicated to develop for.

  • Anyone notice " All righTs reserved" ?

  • @deraidos45 It's not capitalized. It just looks like it is because they moved the line up to avoid collision with the h and s. There's still a visible pixel at the top of the t.

  • @deraidos45 It's just LOW QUALITY. If you watch carefuly, you realize that it's just a normal "t".

  • @deraidos45 Perhaps a reference to NiGHTS into Dreams...? It's probably just a misspelling.

  • i loved the sega saturn

  • Good sms tune for the mobile :D

  • when i hear this, i always imagine NiGHTS saying "welcome back to the past, wont you play with me?"

  • Time to play some Virtua Fighter 2!

  • You have the right screen but you are'nt using the nstc boot sound.

  • @FEDERALSIGNALTECH

What are you smoking? A Saturn purchased from a garage sale in Pennsylvania isn't going to produce anything BUT an NTSC video signal.

  • @Xiado a*

  • Im crying because sonic xtreme never came out

    T_T

But i still love the saturn.....

  • i still have my ss

  • Yes, this is the PAL start up screen. I'm not sure if the US start up screen is the same. I'd say this one was the best one.

  • dooo dodo dodo dooooooo, shhhooo ding ding diiiinnggggg.

guess which start up was that.

  • @Vnix Windows 95?

  • @kirbyyasha nah, playstation :D

  • This startup is quite possibly the greatest thing done by humans in the last 100 years.

  • PS1 start-up beats e'm all

  • well i never had a saturn only a genisis and game gear but since it's sega i bet it rocks

  • Indimenticabile intro.

  • Anybody else noticed the bit of the 'SEGA' choir at the end? :D

  • Back when Sega was it's own corporation and not a puppet of Nintendo.

  • I think I just came.

  • Nostalgia...

  • Best boot screen ever.

    Best console ever.

    With the best mascot ever.

  • @zweihand

Just for the record, you do realize Nights was the Saturn's mascot right? Sonic was the Mega Drive/Genesis mascot.

  • @strykah92 Wait, what? I wasn't even talking about NiGHTS. I was talking about Segata Sanshiro.

  • @zweihand

Oh yeah, him. xD Well that was more of a marketing thing and, his commercials never made it outside of Japan.. *kicks sand*

  • @strykah92 His ads did help the Saturn's success in Japan immensely, though. It's a shame they didn't make it overseas, but they likely wouldn't have sold the Saturn in the same way. They'd probably just elicit some "wtf"s. At least those "S'GAH!" ads we got for the Genesis were amusing.

  • Boot screen of the year.

    All years.

  • Saturn!!!!! =D

  • As soon as this video started playing the sound....the smell of the beanbag I used to sit on after school everyday in front of the TV playing games like Bug Too!, SF Alpha 2, Virtua Fighter2.... rushed straight through my memory like a spear of nostalgia brought by the unforgettable in game soundtracks, gaming will never be the same. I feel sorry for today's generation.

  • i still have my saga saturn fully functional and full of memories :)

  • ah, the nostalgia.

  • best startup better

  • Best. startup. EVER. Too bad the memories I didn't have that my bro did are scarred by the "curse" of Sonic R. -.-

  • I was so happy a few days ago when I used my Saturn for the first time in ages and saw this again.

  • good console but poor gaming experience

  • One of the best start up screens ever

  • That is the most epic Startup I have EVER heard.

  • aaaaaSEGA

  • Heh, I used to spend hours just messing with the options when there wasn't a disc in the tray. Twas fun

  • @Lastknownuser playing a cd and playing with that space ship

  • @Pythiumradics OMFG!!!!!! I completely forgot about that.. That was the best.. Thanks for reminding me..... Awesome Spaceship... So awesome...... -goes to find a video of it-

  • I Think My Brother Played The Sega Dreamcast. :-( I Want To Play One So BAD!!!!! :-(

  • WOOOOOOOOOW

I really miss these days xD

well, not really , I was like 12 back then , ha ha

  • Are you going to make a Sega Saturn gameplay?

  • This is better than the Japanese Sega Saturn startup.

  • lol, I'm used to the Japanese one.

  • 1995

  • Legendary

  • I've always wondered this: what the hell was up with those ugly metallic backgrounds that seemed to pop up fucking EVERYWHERE in the mid-90s?

They never looked good, either. It always looked like stainless steel had drunken unprotected sex with varnished wood and spawned something horrible nine months later.

  • I am so getting buried with my Saturn...that thing ain't leaving my side! :')

  • I still got the gaming system! But no games... -_-

  • Classic!

  • my dad still got his saturn

  • It's one of the best consoles I see in the world.

Nice graphics in his times, and excellents games (Bomberman Saturn, Duke Nukem 3D, A·M·O·K, etc.), except for the memory, need pile =/

  • @Sylvermor its one of the greatest underrated/failed consoles of all time.

  • Reminds me of the SingleTrac logo from the early Twisted Metal games. o;

  • This is the best boot screen ever.

  • can someone give me 200$ so i can get nearly all the good sega saturn games?

  • Panzer dragoon, daytona, sonic jam... All epic.

  • my sega saturn doesnt show any video or play any sound. mines a model one too. can anyone help?

  • Aaah! Woah...I had a quick rush of Nostalgia all at once and it hurt my brain. Damn I love this. Thank goodness my Saturn still works! :') The memories, where have they gone?!

  • i love the sound of this SYSTEM!! Makes me wanna cry because its so awesome

  • ive always thought that sega should put some saturn games on arcade or network

  • oh man! i wish i took care of mines, i was like 5 when i had this i think and sometimes it would freeze and the screen would stay white

  • Do any one know where i can downloade a video of this startup?

  • Check out DownloadHelper for Firefox, or aTube Catcher (standalone application) to save Youtube videos. Converting from FLV to another format will be your own task.

  • @Xiado nice! good old times! :D

  • Thanks, i works perfectly! :D

  • @Xiado Keepvid.com will help you out. just go to downloads after and copy the file into a folder that you can access quickly like desktop.

  • @Xiado Get RealPlayer SP

  • @doungensanddragons Also theres a program called save to pc pro that saves embeded files on the net to avi

  • @doungensanddragons ask your sister she did it for me lol

  • Bug juice!

  • *sigh* it reminds me of how much i miss my n64 and game boy pocket

  • ... and they say that system failed?

    O_o

  • @mechak332337 cause the commercials were really REALLY strange

  • It's PAL or NTSC startup?

  • NTSC. I'm currently dragging my feet on making an S-Video capture of the startup sequence.

  • I think this is PAL and NTSC. What is the PAL? PAL like NTSC-J ??

  • ...what?

  • @Xiado PAL uses this. NTSC-J (japan) uses the japanese one. NTSC (US) uses this one.

  • @Xiado LOL

  • @BiwDi Er what?

PAL is the European TV System.

NTSC is the American TV System.

  • @BiwDi

this is the American version.... Japanese Sega Saturn's have a completely different logo and sound. However, both start ups sound better then anything you have today...

  • @GamingPalooza I personally hate the Japanese boot-up screen, the bland, old fashioned black font doesn't have the same ''You're playing in the future'' aura that the American/European Saturn boot-up and chime has. (that's obviously by no means the case now :L I mean in regards to what Sega what going for back in 95)

    But hey, that's just me.

  • @strykah92

Well, the Japanaese marketing of Sega Saturn was not about futuristic, it was about arcade porting and Segata Sanshiro

  • @GamingPalooza Too true. And what did we get in the meantime? Some faceless clown firing potshots at the PS1 and N64. LOL

I mean don't get me wrong, they were good, but uhh.. needed moar ''blast processing''.

  • @BiwDi WTF?!?!? NO! Pal is the Europan TV Stabdart

  • @BiwDi PAL- Europe/UK NTSC - USA/North America

  • @BiwDi the Jap one is just awesome! I'm so jealous!

  • @BiwDi dumbass its in english

  • I think this is a lot more fitting for the Sega Saturn than the Japanese one due to its trippy space-like sound.

  • My Brazilian Sega Saturn is Theme Green, this language Brazilian Portuguese

  • i freakin love the start up sound

  • I'm crying ,there is my childhood right there ,sonic jam ,sonic r ,dragon ball z: the legend , tom raider ,virtua fighter and so many more... damn sega

  • @ernes1228 its bernie stoler's fault. blame him

  • @ernes1228 Pussy

  • my dad still got it and still works

  • The greatest system of all time.

  • lol how did they even make that shit back then?

  • i still luv my saturn!!

  • So is Sega Saturn just Smoke and Mirrors ?

  • how did you get the Boot screen as a video

  • Connected my Saturn to my video capture card, and simply recorded the bootup animation.

Speaking of which, I need a new capture card, because getting this 15 year old card to capture decent video is like pulling a tiger's teeth with rubber pliers.

  • *sigh* i mist those good times... : (

  • the sad thing is because the saturn is a such a nightmare to emulate with its multiple processors that there's no service like the wii's virtual console where the saturn's classics can be put up for download to find new fans.

  • lol how could`ed be a nightmare to emulate it?

  • Like I said, because the Saturn used multiple processors, which meant it was difficult and expensive to program games which used both of them well. For example, most modern game systems render 3D images using triangles but the Saturn used quadrangles, four-sided shapes.

  • Agreed, it's actually probably easier to emulate the Dreamcast or PS2.

But meh, Sega should really get off Nintendo's dick for a while and release a Saturn collection on PS3 like they did with the Megadrive/Genesis.

  • @strykah92 As much as I'd like to play some Astahl or Panzer Dragoon RPG on a compilation disc, I doubt it it will ever happen. Sega today seems to willfully forget the Saturn period ever happened, which is a damned shame.

  • Yeah, that's the harsh reality of it. But that's the problem, not that I'm taking anything away from Sony, but alot of people back then were blinded by the PlayStation's price tag, and converesly the truth about the Saturn. I can't stress enough how many people would enjoy Nights, the Sonic remakes, the Saturn version of Rayman and a wall of other 2D gems that would be the perfect fit for the PS3's 50GB Blu-ray disc.

  • Or even better; get off of everybody's dick and release some sort of DC2 to compete with Wii!!

  • like this one much more than the other startup sound of sega saturn

  • those were the days

  • I'm with you on that!

  • A cousin of mine lives in portugal ahd nas a saturn with that intro. :S

    I love it though! :D

  • brought a tear to my eye

  • odd I thought I remember seeing a YouTube video where at the end a puff of smoke would come off logo, in a steam-like fashion. Maybe I was just imagining that.

  • I find it weird that America had to change the Japanese boot screen...

  • Ahh, I remember this fondly. :)

I had a Saturn before a PS1, and even though it wasn't well supported in the states, Sega's 32 bit system did have its share of good games.

If you wanted 2D fighting games it was pretty much the only game in town. Combined with the relative ease of access to information on playing imported games, I ended up having more Japanese games than I had US ones! :)

  • ooooo I miss the good old days

  • Thats a beautiful sound, I'm changing my ringtone.......NOW!

  • im a guy.but this may sound gay.but the x box 360 and the sega saturn sound beautiful.when they start up. lol

  • That isnt gay.

I feel the same way too, i get a warm glowing feeling when Saturn starts up but get freaked out at the playstation

  • Sega saturn startup sound was more beutiful while the PS1 had a more epic startup

  • Agree, but the PS1 is too long and gets a bit annoying every time you need to start it up

  • I really loved the Sega Saturn and i still love it now i play on it everyday! but i wish they made a Japanese V-saturn for the United Kingdom and not just japan. :(

  • i like the sega saturn turn on.its awesome.man.

  • Sucks that these posters that are putting up startup videos are missing the Saturn....!!!

  • ...what?

  • The so called "Video Game Startups" videos where they have a mix of startups in one. They're missing the Saturn one in most of them.

  • Oh. Well, that's stupid of them. The Saturn was KING for 2D fighters, especially when you brought one of the RAM carts into play. The PSX versions just look like choppy trash in comparison.

  • What is the "DS" project you are doing?

  • Boot animation for the DS Top Toy. It works, but the problem is, all the WHITE in the frames comes up as transparent, which shows the console text.

  • Finally, a high-quality Sega Saturn boot screen! Thanks for posting this!

Ah, I love seeing this screen whenever I turn my Saturn on. Gets me psyched to play some games!

  • I'd make a higher quality capture of this, but I don't have an s-video cable for my Saturn, and I don't have a DIN connector to build one with... and my capture card is over ten years old, so getting it to do better than 320x240 is like pulling a lion's teeth with rubber pliers.

  • This and the Blue Dreamcast are the best boot up screens ever. First time I saw it was a friend's house and I kept hittin the reset button to watch it again lol.

  • Classic.
