Money, patience, and good tuning will produce plenty of power out of any diesel engine. If you believe a Duramax engine is junk though, you should pay attention to Fleece Performance's channel and wait till they finish and post videos of their new FPE Duramax drag truck.
Dude they circled the problem for ya... Your not even worthy to comment on a video of a duramax or a cummins.. Your shits junk they just keep failing year by year and sounds like your another sucker that bought one.. And by the looks of it your commenting on a lot of dmax videos .. So maybe its like being gay and coming out of the closet .. maybe deep down you really want one but the wallet or daddy just wont buy u one so u had to settle for 3 best.. ...
very funny but when your durmax is setting on the side of the road and a 6.0 blows smoke all over it when it flys by ill be laughing then youl understand
@chaddmiful You can't be serious! 6.0 was an epic failure in the diesel world. The engine didn't even function in it's stock form, let alone with any power modifications. You can't do anything to them without headstuds, EGR delete and the oil cooler fix. Let's be serious here.
@GeckoSniper If we're going to start putting money into it, while you spend money on head studs and delete kits, I opt for my after market money to go to a turbo. Win.
peace of junk all gmc and chevys need to be scraped there no good for nothing but taking your money cause there breaking down go out and get a powerstroke
@chaddmiful Are you kidding me? By the looks of your comments on youtube you've got a thing against Duramax and seem to love the 6.0? At least the state of California hasn't filed suit against the Duramax engine like it has the 6.0. In the suit they say the 6.0 doesn't function as an engine should. I'll put up my tuning up against any 6.0 tuning.
@chaddmiful hahaha, your saying duramax's are always breaking down yet you like 6 liters ? they are probably one of the worst diesel motors ever made. 2 of my buddies have them, 1 of them is on his 3rd motor and the other one is parked because he blew his head gaskets.
@chaddmiful HAHAHA! The 6.0 powerstoke is the saddest excuse of a diesel motor that has ever been around. Any duramax would pull a 6.0 backwards, and thats only if the 6.0's EGR hasn't gone bad yet. Sorry, but you're half retarded.
@chaddmiful i have a friend with 380 thousand miles on his LBZ DURAMAX ALL STOCK and it has edge and efi live tuning... if your ford ca do that ill be impressed... oh sorry he has a built tranny he put in 20,000 miles ago
duramaxs are impressive, but they are a bitch to work on. we're working on an lly right now, just getting injectors out is a bitch. then we sent them in to get tested and 7 of them were junk (good one was a replaced one). at $300 a piece, thats a big bill for a truck with less than 200k on it.
@mizzou1990 That is definitely out of the ordinary for an LLY. LB7s had some injector issues, but it was all resolved by the time the LLYs came out. I'm surprised to hear you have to change them.
@LonghornFabShop I wonder if he (or his wife who occasionally drives it) accidentally ran some gasoline through it and that ruined the injectors. It surprised me too that all 8 were junk, makes me think something was put in the fuel tank that shouldn't have been there. Heard #2 and 7 injectors were bad about going out, but not all 8..
Never buy a used motor from Engine and Transmission World. Do your research; google "Engine and Transmission World reviews complaints scam". You'll see why I am telling you this.
@sydboc We're gettign ready to do a 2 stack set up on another truck that we'll be sure to post videos of, so stay tuned! BTW, we're big fans of GMC too.
THAT SHIT SUCKS IM A CHEVY GUY AND A DODGE GUY WHEN IT COMES TO DIESEL BUT BY FAR DODGE MAKES THE BEST TURBO ... BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT CHEVY HAS LET ME KNOW...
There have been a lot of questions about this video and comments about EGTs. I wanted to clear that when in this tune the truck stays well below even stock tune EGTs and is done with a very creative way of tuning that only modifies the amount of fuel delivered by a small amount and therefore does not increase EGTs or spray excessive amounts of fuel.
no, no confusion. i watched the other video and thats what im refering to. 500hp at the crank is roughly about 415 at the wheels depending on tire size, with a stock fuel system and turbo. anytime you have power at the crank you loose roughly 17% through the trans and tires. so your 500hp at the crank is 415 at the wheels...again a lil weak IMHO. i understand its your job to give the customer what he wants but it should also be your job to inform him on how bad those kind of tunes are.
I still think there is some misunderstanding here. 500HP at the crank is the max for the transmission. That is a separate discussion about how much that is at the wheels. The truck Dyno'd at 468HP and 901 Ft-Lbs with stock turbo, injectors, and internals. Which is more than the transmission can take on a daily basis, but will hold together until the new one comes in. So that is where the customer wanted to stop at, so that is where we stopped. No where did I say it was the max.
@truckin454 You are still confused! I am talking REAR WHEEL HORSEPOWER NUMBERS. We are pushing almost 500 HP at the rear wheels on these trucks (there are recent tunes that we haven't posted videos for) and the transmission is rated for 500 HP at the crank. I'd say this isn't too bad for a completely STOCK ENGINE, TURBO AND INJECTORS.
Check out "2006 LBZ Launching with EFI Live" a nearly smoke free run (except for the tires) in the race tune. Same truck. Different position on his 5 way switch for his EFI Live tunes.
The smoke tune in this video is different than the race tune in the video "2006 LBZ Launching with EFI Live". EFI Live allows you to change tunes on the fly from inside the cab. The race tune is putting down 468HP/901Ft-Lbs to the rear wheels. Right now it is transmission limited, the truck has plenty of fuel and timing left in it but the current transmission cannot put it to the ground yet. That will change soon though.
@LonghornFabShop im fairly familiar with EFI, my LBZ is tuned with it as well. i ask because that seems a lil weak even for a stock transmission. IMHO i think its a waste of a tune and truck just as it is fuel. even with 40% nozzles my truck is no where near that smokey still while at the 650hp mark
There must be some confusion here. This video is NOT the race tune. It is just a smoke tune. Also 500 HP at the CRANK is the absolute max for a 6 speed Allison even with a shift kit. They are on borrowed time if you are close or over that amount. They may not give out right away, but its time to start saving up. With a DSP5 you have 5 tunes available so its no big deal to fill one with something fun and useless. I give the customers what they ask for. That's my job.
What about a shift kit? I put my exhaust on last night but it sounds like my idle is way to high or something i don't know it sounds sick when im driving any ideas what that could be?
Shift kits work out very well on the 6 speed Allison (which is what you have). I'll be loading the shift kits on the website soon or you can call me anytime and I'll order you one. They are very inexpensive. The "high idle" sound you're hearing is the turbo vanes being partially closed at idle. This is how they come from the factory, but EFI Live can change all of that to give you a nice rumble. All you have to do is ship me your computer and I'll tune it and send it back.
Sick truck! I need some help i got a 5" mbrp what else do i need to get? I got Just about all the outside done im just ready to start rollin some coal Haha thanks
You're going to need EFI Live for your Duramax if you're serious about getting the most out of it. Intake and and AirDog II would also be the next on the list along with a good set of gauges or Edge CTS. Check out the website and search under your truck model. Or give me a call anytime and I'll walk you through what you need!
Thanks for sharing, everyone has their preference. It looks great on this truck as well as on other trucks. Like I've mentioned before lets keep the comments in good nature and fun. These are my customers and they love their trucks just like I'm sure you love yours and there is no need to degrade the way they modify their trucks.
So whats all done this truck? I have a LBZ, with intake, downpipe, 4" turboback exhaust, looking at getting EFI live and a lift pump after I install a trans go JR. Sick truck!
This truck has an AFE Full 5" Metal Tube Cold Air intake, AirDog, Longhorn Fab Shop traction bars, MBRP turbo direct pipe, 5" stack, boost and pyro gauges, and EFI Live Tuning by Longhorn Fab Shop. Sounds like you are well on your way to a great running truck. Let me know when you're ready to order all of that stuff and I will personally put together a great package for you, for an even better price! I love the LBZ trucks, they run great and are very consistent.
Thanks! I'm glad you like it. We try to have a lot of fun with the trucks and sometimes you just have to have something that is good for nothing else but show. Any truck LLY and newer has the capability of smoking like this. Give me a call or send an email if you need any tuning.
