i can back up what he is saying about not having to spend a fortune on kit. I'm a college student and a fair bit of my (non essential) kit is from brands such as eurohike or sometimes hi-gear, and they are much better quality than you will think and i have used them on d of e expeds, hikes and wildcamps and they have performed great!
@iMikeeyB The rules are complicated and common sense must be used along with research at all times in England and Wales. I only left the Peak District the other day and came across a fire brigade crew along with police trying to put out a fire caused by some wanna be Ray Mears folk.
@terrybnd The Ray Mears wanna be eh! When I went with my school mates in the 60's we called it CAMPING. We built what we called DENS in the woods. Now they are "survival shelters" and camping is apparently "bushcraft" and "survival"! What bollicks! Or will they have all their "survival" gear with them on the plane to Spain, in case they crash into the jungle? They're just camping in the woods and the first thing they'd pull out if in trouble would be their mobile phone, for the Mrs to pick them!
@chas4551 lol Agree. I was brought up on 'bushcraft'. Sleeping out under bracken and wood, getting covered in ticks, digging pits for fires etc. Somethings don't change so they say. Now I do it all under nylon ;) I suppose it's a sign of the times and so the need to categorise everything for identity or specific clarification is needed. Otherwise, when out and about and folk ask - "I'm camped out..." with blank looks, "I'm wild camping" and so they then understand. I blame schools ;)
What kit did you take,im new to this, always wanted to do it

just a tip if you make a part 1 and a part 2 of something then name your videos
xxxxxxxxxxxx - part 1 and xxxxxxxxxxxx - part 2.
otherwise if you find part 2 first and copy paste but exchange 2 for 1 it looks like there is no part 1 as nothing shows.

mullensk8ter15 1 year ago
@mullensk8ter15 Not really. Just buy a map and plan a route. It's much better that way for a sense of adventure.
