Pe langa asta mai trebuie mentionata si tradarea din partea Frantei (a cata ?), care ne-a tradat de fiecare data cand a avut ocazia. In tratatul de la Bucuresti (4/17 august 1916) era mentionat ca, in cazul victoriei Antantei granitele de Vest ale Romaniei vor fi pe raul Tisa. Dupa razboi, Franta a intervenit si a fixat granitele noastre de vest pe criterii etnice. Astfel Romania a pierdut o parte din Crisana si o parte din Banat.
1. 1807 - Napoleon I accepta ca, in cazul victorie rusilor impotriva turcilor, Principatele Romanesti sa fie incorporate de catre Rusia;
2. 1856 - in urma Razboiului Crimeii, Anglia propunea ca Basarabia sa revina Moldovei. Franta (dupa o intelegere cu Rusia) a refuzat, astfel Moldova a primit doar sudul Basarabiei;
3. 1857 - Napoleon al III-lea negociaza cu austriecii: astfel Franta urma sa anexaze Nisa si Savoia, iar Austria Principatele Romanesti ...
... Din fericire francezii si austriecii nu s-au intelessi planul a esuat.
4. 1858 - Franta alaturi de celelalte puteri europene, refuza unirea Valahiei cu Modova, acceptand doar o unire pe hartie.
5. 1920 - Franta impaca si capra si varza luand teritorii de la romani (castigate de noi prin lupta) si ofera ugurilor, sub pretextul criteriilor etnice de delimitare a granitelor.
Cam asa...exceptie 1920. Mare noroc istoric am am avut in ww1 ! Am capitulat si in 1918 anul urmator, ne-am trezit la masa invingatorilor. Din pacate in ww2 n-am mai fost norocosi dar oricum ne-ar fi ocupat sovieticii in 1944, indiferent ca am fi ramas la garantiile "britanice-fr." sau eram cu Axa.

Outside of Rumanian and Slovakian nationalists erupting in anger at thought of it, another reason why it failed was because it would take away a lot of jobs from the Hungarians in Hungary, among other things. Besides, the 3.5 million Hungarians who live as minorities in the neighbouring countries don't want to move. That has been their home for 1,000 years. Why should they move?
Yes, the modern day Magyars are mixture of many peoples, but we are in no way closely related to anyone except when it comes to genes. Not only is our language different, but how we act and think. How beliefs, our foods, our legends and our lifestyles are either distinctly non-European, or are European with an Asian attribute to it. The people with the most striking similarity to Hungarians, are the Germans and that is with work-habits. Both are extremely work-orientated.
Indeed, as far as I know only 20% of today's Hungarians are "looking" similar to the magyar ancestors. For example, my father has a black hair, but my mother is blonde (original....) and now I am brown. So my mothers ancestors cannot all be ancient magyars. But I have a Greek friend who is naturally blond so I assume that he is also sslightly "mixed".

When the Magyar tribes arrived in Europe, Pannonia had been depopulated containing 100,000 Slavs and Avars. Slovakia had 200,000 Slavs but mostly remained Slavic. Transylvania had around 50,000 Slavs and Avars(maybe Vlachs too) who were also assimilated.
The Magyars ranged from 500,000 - 1,000,000. Thus, there is no way that the Magyars were the ruling minority.

There are influence of other ethnicities, but very small. The Hungarians people are from the same familly with Romanians, Greeks and Bulgarians, but they have also been influenced by Gypsy and Slavs. The old Maghyars have been only a small group who ruled the country, but they didn't mix with the local population.

I'm sorry, I don't want to make this a nationalist flame war, because I have nothing against Rumanians as you seem to against Hungarian, but do you even know anything about the Hungarian language? It is not easy to answer, because there are not so many Romanians in Hungary. I am not sure, but less than 0.2%. And I do not know if they live in a separate region or not. Altogether, Hungary, after those huge territory losses, is at least homogeneous. I think more than 96% is Hungarian. The main minority is the gipsy, but they speak also Hungarian.
Finally, there are really many working examples for such thing: Corsica for France, Catalonia for Spain, Tyrol in Italy, nothhern Ireland for GB and more so you would be surprised. And an authonomy is not necessarily territorial, it can be cultural. (But I even do not know what is wrong with the former.) In Belgium, there is an autonomy for the German community, and they are only 70000 people. In Romania, the 1.5-2 million Szekelys cannot even have a single University...

When the Magyars came into the Pannonia and Transylvania, they found Slavs, Germans and Avars. If you look at the Hungarian gene pool today, we are mostly Slavic with German influences. People such as my mother still have somewhat stretched eyes like Asians, even though we look completely caucasion otherwise.
I'm sure there was some interbreeding between Vlachs and Hungarians, but the people the Hungarians assimilated were Slavs and Avars, not Vlachs.

And the situation is that in Transilvania, the hungarians are mostly situated in 3 counties, Hargita, Kovaszna and Maros. So they are relatively well separated. If say, there were a region in Hungary with Romanian cities and nearby village, I would give them autonomy. This does not mean that they are another country, but special advantages, i.e. schools, could be given. Also bilingual signs, etc.
and again, as for who are descendants of whom, is debated not just among Hungarian and Romanian historicals. Many consider that Romanian came later, after Erdely was almost empty due to the mongol invasion of Hungary around 1250. Maybe you are descendants of the dacs, maybe not. The truth may remain out there :-) WHATEVER: NOW there is a given situation: there are people of BOTH origin.
OK, no problem. and yes, there are Hungarians who just hate Romanians and vice versa. But this is or should not be general. As for me I do not hate someone just because he/she is Romanian. I have 6 Romanian colleagues. They are all different, they are OK for me and some are really nice person. One of my favourite musician is also Romanian origin. I also met rude Romanians who I felt that they hate me and could kill me by eye just because some different opinion.
As for the autonomy, it is generally accepted in EU, why cannot we have it, being one of the biggest minorities in Europe? You should not blame us for supporting this. I support what Szekelys want. If they want autonomy, I support. If they want nothing, I support that. You also care with the Romanians in Moldavia. So why can't we? That's as simple as it is.

that our nations do not like in general each other has some special reasons, but see, usually every neighbors have problems with each other. Especially in our region the history was worse than in the west. They are also richer while we are poorer. this is also the reason for a higher tension. Indeed, today Transilvania is geographically and politically part of Romania. But it is not only "Romanian". It is and will be forever part of the Hungarian history and culture. And of course homeland of the Szekely people.

Besides, it was a very bad idea, because the Rumanian and Slovakian Nationalists and politicians thought it was an attempt at reunification, so it just hurt the relations between Hungary and those two countries. I do care very much for the Hungarian minorities, but I also care about the Rumanians just as much.

As for "siculien" I do not know, but székely people are certainly not of German origin. Why do they speak then Hungarian? What you mean the "szasz" people are German and were living in Nagyszeben (Szeben=Sibiu coming from 7 in German ="sieben"). I think these Germans had to leave after WWII due to political reasons.

I agree with sztamas! Erdely could had been made independent, they have the resources, infrastructure, industry and population. Erdely could also have been shared, like in during 1938-1940. ERdely although a region, can be divided, its not something that cannot. They should have realized that in Trianon, and after WW2!
I think it is a pity that this was not the case and the whole area was again Romanian. I believe also that such a thing would have decreased the tension between Hungary and Romania...but in the present situation it cannot be expected that we forgive or forget easily about all our losses.
In many case of course it would have been not possible to create justified borders, without pushing Hungarians or Romanians as a minority. A kinda solution could have been a creation of an independent Transilvania, a bilingual mixed state. Similarly like Belgium with Flemmish and Wallonians living together. There were plans for the re-creation of Transilvania (that existed before) with Hungarian, Romanian and mixed cantons.
Hungary lost also Ethnic Hungarian territories. That is crystal clear. I think this is that is the most unjust thing about Trianon. The principle of self-governing, that is, e.g. every Hungarians in a nation-state and every Slovakians in a nation-state didnot succeed. Simply due to the interests of the great powers to weaken our country, and also because their interest was that the tension between these countries still remain - so to better control them. The same interest led Hitler as well.

Pe langa asta mai trebuie mentionata si tradarea din partea Frantei (a cata ?), care ne-a tradat de fiecare data cand a avut ocazia. In tratatul de la Bucuresti (4/17 august 1916) era mentionat ca, in cazul victoriei Antantei granitele de Vest ale Romaniei vor fi pe raul Tisa. Dupa razboi, Franta a intervenit si a fixat granitele noastre de vest pe criterii etnice. Astfel Romania a pierdut o parte din Crisana si o parte din Banat.

Outside of Rumanian and Slovakian nationalists erupting in anger at thought of it, another reason why it failed was because it would take away a lot of jobs from the Hungarians in Hungary, among other things. Yes, the modern day Magyars are mixture of many peoples, but we are in no way closely related to anyone except when it comes to genes. Not only is our language different, but how we act and think. How beliefs, our foods, our legends and our lifestyles are either distinctly non-European, or are European with an Asian attribute to it. The people with the most striking similarity to Hungarians, are the Germans and that is with work-habits. Both are extremely work-orientated.

Genetic tests proved that Hungarians are in their majority the same people as the Romanians, Greeks, Bulgarians. So, the Thracian are the ancestors of all of these people.

The Hungarians from Hungary have no DNA from the Maghyars, but they speak Maghyar language. Look what one of many tests says:"These results suggest that the influence of Magyars on the Hungarian gene pool has been very low through both females and males and the Hungarian language could be an example of cultural dominance."
So, the Hungarians are not Maghyars, they are Romanians+Gypsy+Slavs, all of them being forced to speak Maghyarlanguage and being forced to forget their own ethnicity.

Yes, there was a good deal of assimilation. However, the Hungarians not having any Magyar genes is false.
Studies reveal Hungarians possess 5% Asian genes. My mother, as I already stated, has Asian eyes. There of course was assimilation, however, to say that that alone is why Hungarians are caucasion is foolish. It is obvious to assume there was intermarriage, which greatly contributed to our loss of the Asian appearance.

About assimilation and the dominate culture:
When the Magyar tribes arrived in Europe, Pannonia had been depopulated containing 100,000 Slavs and Avars. Slovakia had 200,000 Slavs but mostly remained Slavic. Transylvania had around 50,000 Slavs and Avars(maybe Vlachs too) who were also assimilated.
The Magyars ranged from 500,000 - 1,000,000. Thus, there is no way that the Magyars were the ruling minority.

There are influence of other ethnicities, but very small. The Hungarians people are from the same familly with Romanians, Greeks and Bulgarians, but they have also been influenced by Gypsy and Slavs. The old Maghyars have been only a small group who ruled the country, but they didn't mix with the local population.

The Magyars were not the minority. The Magyars were always the majority in the Carpathian Basin - Slovakia had 200,000 non-Magyars. Pannonia had 100,000 non-Magyars. Transylvania had about 50,000 non-Magyars. But there were between 500,000 - 1,000,000 Magyars. The numbers clearly show a Magyar majority.

I'm fully aware that Hungarians are far from innocent, so there is no reason to point fingers at who started it. My posts here were directed to Rumanians. That doesn't mean that other times I don't try to talk sense into Hungarians, though.I've read posts saying that all of Hungary should be Rumanian, and one day Budapest will be Rumanian. I don't insult Rumanians as a response, though.

zexeru- There are many historical writings who proved that not only Transilvania was lived by Romanians, but also Panonia was lived by Romanians when the Huns arrived.The Huns ruled the country and hungarized the local aritocracy and then the local people who were Romanians and spoke Romanian language. Ferenc Bakos, from the University of Budapesta proved that the basic Hungarian language contains more than half Romanian words.

It is not easy to answer, because there are not so many Romanians in Hungary. I am not sure, but less than 0.2%. And I do not know if they live in a separate region or not. Altogether, Hungary, after those huge territory losses, is at least homogeneous. I think more than 96% is Hungarian. The main minority is the gipsy, but they speak also Hungarian.

Finally, there are really many working examples for such thing: Corsica for France, Catalonia for Spain, Tyrol in Italy, nothhern Ireland for GB and more so you would be surprised. And an authonomy is not necessarily territorial, it can be cultural. (But I even do not know what is wrong with the former.) In Belgium, there is an autonomy for the German community, and they are only 70000 people. In Romania, the 1.5-2 million Szekelys cannot even have a single University...

When the Magyars came into the Pannonia and Transylvania, they found Slavs, Germans and Avars. If you look at the Hungarian gene pool today, we are mostly Slavic with German influences. People such as my mother still have somewhat stretched eyes like Asians, even though we look completely caucasion otherwise.
I'm sure there was some interbreeding between Vlachs and Hungarians, but the people the Hungarians assimilated were Slavs and Avars, not Vlachs.

And the situation is that in Transilvania, the hungarians are mostly situated in 3 counties, Hargita, Kovaszna and Maros. So they are relatively well separated. If say, there were a region in Hungary with Romanian cities and nearby village, I would give them autonomy. This does not mean that they are another country, but special advantages, i.e. schools, could be given. Also bilingual signs, etc.

and again, as for who are descendants of whom, is debated not just among Hungarian and Romanian historicals. Many consider that Romanian came later, after Erdely was almost empty due to the mongol invasion of Hungary around 1250. Maybe you are descendants of the dacs, maybe not. The truth may remain out there :-) WHATEVER: NOW there is a given situation: there are people of BOTH origin.

OK, no problem. and yes, there are Hungarians who just hate Romanians and vice versa. But this is or should not be general. As for me I do not hate someone just because he/she is Romanian. I have 6 Romanian colleagues. They are all different, they are OK for me and some are really nice person. One of my favourite musician is also Romanian origin. I also met rude Romanians who I felt that they hate me and could kill me by eye just because some different opinion.

As for the autonomy, it is generally accepted in EU, why cannot we have it, being one of the biggest minorities in Europe? You should not blame us for supporting this. I support what Szekelys want. If they want autonomy, I support. If they want nothing, I support that. You also care with the Romanians in Moldavia. So why can't we? That's as simple as it is.

that our nations do not like in general each other has some special reasons, but see, usually every neighbors have problems with each other. Especially in our region the history was worse than in the west. They are also richer while we are poorer. this is also the reason for a higher tension. Besides, it was a very bad idea, because the Rumanian and Slovakian Nationalists and politicians thought it was an attempt at reunification, so it just hurt the relations between Hungary and those two countries. As for "siculien" I do not know, but székely people are certainly not of German origin. Why do they speak then Hungarian? What you mean the "szasz" people are German and were living in Nagyszeben (Szeben=Sibiu coming from 7 in German ="sieben"). I think these Germans had to leave after WWII due to political reasons.

In many case of course it would have been not possible to create justified borders, without pushing Hungarians or Romanians as a minority. A kinda solution could have been a creation of an independent Transilvania, a bilingual mixed state. Similarly like Belgium with Flemmish and Wallonians living together. There were plans for the re-creation of Transilvania (that existed before) with Hungarian, Romanian and mixed cantons.

Hungary lost also Ethnic Hungarian territories. That is crystal clear. I think this is that is the most unjust thing about Trianon. The principle of self-governing, that is, e.g. every Hungarians in a nation-state and every Slovakians in a nation-state didnot succeed. Simply due to the interests of the great powers to weaken our country, and also because their interest was that the tension between these countries still remain - so to better control them. The same interest led Hitler as well.

There aren't any. You mistook the Romanian flag (an older version of it, with the colors being placed horizontally) for it's Hungarian counterpart. The images are from the assembly held at Alba Iulia on 1st of December 1918, when the Union of Transylvania with the Kingdom of Romania was proclaimed.
