I have seen this happen when a student doesn't hold full back pressure until the spin is fully developed. You end up inverted, what else you going to do besides roll it back?
I do this in gliders, and occaisionally it goes belly up, it happens , sometimes you are too vigorous with the ailerons but dont use enough positive input on the rudder causing an oh s**t moment.
Spinning a C172 is legal as long as it is in the utility category as specified by the POH, however the aileron/snap roll is not. The FARs state that for any maneuver exceeding 30 degrees of pitch and/or 60 degrees of bank all crew must be equipped with a parachute

@SRMeadows A snap-roll is a spin on the horizontal plane. Now, I wasn't there doing this, but judging how the aircraft rolled on to it's belly then decayed into a normal upright spin... To me, thats indicative of a snap-roll that didn't have quite enough airspeed to give it the full "snap" characteristic.
But like I said, I wasn't there doing this, I could be wrong and it can be difficult to tell on a shaky cam, so I'll digress and say, come back after you pass your acro check-ride.
This is not an alerion roll it was a snap roll you enter it the same way you enter a spin just do the inputs faster and doing them before you are stalled. yes they are not approved but what is Va? as long as you are below the Va for the weight there is no way an a/c will come apart.
@ry6198 There are major structural differences between the Cessna 150 and the Aerobat version. The wing struts, carry thru structure, and tail are strengthened to 6.6g. The aerobat also has a G meter, quick release doors, and parachute seats. The aerobat does not have an inverted fuel or oil system, the engine DOES quit if negative g's or spins are held for an extended period. NEVER attempt aerobatics in a non-aerobatic plane or without training & parachute like this C-172 jackass did.
@flunkn70 thank you for clearing that up for me i kinda figered that it must be a bit stronger but did not know it could take 6.6g. as apposed to the 4.4g a normal one does.
I would never do areo in something not cert for it I like my LICENCE.
I was just getting at the point that there should be no structral damage if you are below the Va speed for the weight. But I could be wrong??
It IS illegal, but not because of the country, or the gravity fed fuel delivery, it's illegal because Cessna has declared that the 172 airframe is NOT built for the stress of aerobatic manuvers. The FAA also says it's illegal to do aerobatic manuvers apart from a waiver or clearance to do so. So in this video we see that a pilot is breaking rules & regulations while endangering the lives of all on board, & possibly lives on the ground, and that's NOT something to laugh at.
@jesusisbetter I meant "maneuvers." I do realize this roll was possibly un-intentional as the failed result of a spin. However, a 172's airframe is not built for high stress manuevers and it WILL come apart in the air. I'm a comm/inst/A&P and have heard & read many times of Cessna pilots doing aerobatics in 150/152's/172's with the result of in-flight breakup and multiple lives lost. Just be careful & stay in the boundary of the FAR's, and the POH for the plane you're flying...always!
@jesusisbetter An aileron roll wont kill it. It was unintentional, and if you are in the plane you would probably laugh too, unless you dislike the feelings induced by G and -G. It was an accident, so don't get your panties in a bunch please? No one would try an aileron roll in a C172 on purpose...At least no one that I can think of...
@jesusisbetter bull butter! I fly a 1965 Cessna 172 and you can spin it all day long, the only restriction is you can't do it with anyone in the rear seats or anything in the baggage compartment. As far as aerobatics goes, you don't have to have a waiver to go out and do them either, you just have to be over an unpopulated area and at least 1500 AGL, at least 3 miles visibility, and not near controlled airspace (FAR 91.303)
@fastone93 The POH for 172s approve only 5 "aerobatic" maneuvers in a 172. I was wrong about the waiver. But accident statistics, and my experience as an A&P, show 172s and other cessnas/light planes are no place for unapproved aerobatic maneuvers, especially without aerobatic instruction first.
Ha yeah looks like you inadvertently snap rolled it by having a bit too much airspeed. Recovery was fine but, and good on ya for wanting to practice spins. Just be extra careful though, snap rolls place huge stresses on the wings! I've now spun more than a few aircraft and some of them have some surprising characteristics! Spins in a Robin have a habit of stopping the prop for instance :)
Hi people, I have a question: in MS flight simulator X is possible to fly this cessna upside down without any problems to flight straight. Is it possible in real life? And if yes, could someone do video of this? :)))) thanks
i was responding to someone else saying something stupid like saying that he should do some barrel rolls or w/e but the comment has since been removed. and yes, i know that some schools have it in their curriculums (although not mine), and alot of schools just skip that since it isnt required by the faa to do the training
@aviatorfta yep in america it legal to spin cessnas. It is recomended to sping the aircraft with the lowest possable weight in order to avoid going into a flat spin.

i did spin training in a 172p. they can do spins, but not classified to do ailerons roles and cuban 8s or w/e
