  • I have seen this happen when a student doesn't hold full back pressure until the spin is fully developed. You end up inverted, what else you going to do besides roll it back?

  • haha its only funny because the guy was laughing haha

  • messy looking roll

  • I do this in gliders, and occaisionally it goes belly up, it happens , sometimes you are too vigorous with the ailerons but dont use enough positive input on the rudder causing an oh s**t moment.

  • That was way against Regulations and stupid

  • @Thejetskierman If you would take the time to do some research, you would realize that it is not against ANY regulation/restriction. POH, or FAR.

  • Spinning a C172 is legal as long as it is in the utility category as specified by the POH, however the aileron/snap roll is not. The FARs state that for any maneuver exceeding 30 degrees of pitch and/or 60 degrees of bank all crew must be equipped with a parachute

  • Looks like a snap roll to me.

  • @stevethepilot Well Steve you must be blind........come back after you pass the check ride.

  • @SRMeadows A snap-roll is a spin on the horizontal plane. Now, I wasn't there doing this, but judging how the aircraft rolled on to it's belly then decayed into a normal upright spin... To me, thats indicative of a snap-roll that didn't have quite enough airspeed to give it the full "snap" characteristic.

But like I said, I wasn't there doing this, I could be wrong and it can be difficult to tell on a shaky cam, so I'll digress and say, come back after you pass your acro check-ride.

  • @stevethepilot No snap = no snap roll....get it? Probably not.

  • laughing all the way to the ground eh?

  • @ciranrap no shit...are your serious... -___-

  • This is not an alerion roll it was a snap roll you enter it the same way you enter a spin just do the inputs faster and doing them before you are stalled. yes they are not approved but what is Va? as long as you are below the Va for the weight there is no way an a/c will come apart.

You can correct me if i am worng

  • @ry6198 Whatever...

  • @SRMeadows so am i wrong?? the olny differnce between a C-150 and a C-150 areobat is that it has inverted fuel and oil system??

  • @ry6198 There are major structural differences between the Cessna 150 and the Aerobat version. The wing struts, carry thru structure, and tail are strengthened to 6.6g. The aerobat also has a G meter, quick release doors, and parachute seats. The aerobat does not have an inverted fuel or oil system, the engine DOES quit if negative g's or spins are held for an extended period. NEVER attempt aerobatics in a non-aerobatic plane or without training & parachute like this C-172 jackass did.

  • @flunkn70 thank you for clearing that up for me i kinda figered that it must be a bit stronger but did not know it could take 6.6g. as apposed to the 4.4g a normal one does.

I would never do areo in something not cert for it I like my LICENCE.

I was just getting at the point that there should be no structral damage if you are below the Va speed for the weight. But I could be wrong??

    Thanks for the reply

  • Ive seen people do this before, almost happened when I was in the plane haha

    Awesome video!

  • looks like fun to me...

  • did you turn off the engine or was that a stall?

  • It IS illegal, but not because of the country, or the gravity fed fuel delivery, it's illegal because Cessna has declared that the 172 airframe is NOT built for the stress of aerobatic manuvers. The FAA also says it's illegal to do aerobatic manuvers apart from a waiver or clearance to do so. So in this video we see that a pilot is breaking rules & regulations while endangering the lives of all on board, & possibly lives on the ground, and that's NOT something to laugh at.

  • @jesusisbetter I meant "maneuvers." I do realize this roll was possibly un-intentional as the failed result of a spin. However, a 172's airframe is not built for high stress manuevers and it WILL come apart in the air. I'm a comm/inst/A&P and have heard & read many times of Cessna pilots doing aerobatics in 150/152's/172's with the result of in-flight breakup and multiple lives lost. Just be careful & stay in the boundary of the FAR's, and the POH for the plane you're flying...always!

  • @jesusisbetter An aileron roll wont kill it. It was unintentional, and if you are in the plane you would probably laugh too, unless you dislike the feelings induced by G and -G. It was an accident, so don't get your panties in a bunch please? No one would try an aileron roll in a C172 on purpose...At least no one that I can think of...

  • @DerPilotMann

I was dumb enough to try it...in a rental. NOT a good idea!

  • @smoakC5 At least you made it out alive =)

  • @DerPilotMann

I know a few that spin their cessnas just cause they can... crazy yes... stomach wrenching yes... kinda silly yes... illegal ... no

(I did however give the pilot the look that he will never subject me to such a thing while flying again!!!!)

  • @jesusisbetter bull butter! I fly a 1965 Cessna 172 and you can spin it all day long, the only restriction is you can't do it with anyone in the rear seats or anything in the baggage compartment. As far as aerobatics goes, you don't have to have a waiver to go out and do them either, you just have to be over an unpopulated area and at least 1500 AGL, at least 3 miles visibility, and not near controlled airspace (FAR 91.303)

  • @fastone93 The POH for 172s approve only 5 "aerobatic" maneuvers in a 172. I was wrong about the waiver. But accident statistics, and my experience as an A&P, show 172s and other cessnas/light planes are no place for unapproved aerobatic maneuvers, especially without aerobatic instruction first.

  • @jesusisbetter Stick to being an A&P, and leave the flying to pilots. Fair enough?

  • @jesusisbetter If you read the title, it says the spin turns into an aileron roll, unintentional.

  • Hahahaha, Love it, especially as you guys laugh as it rolls inverted :) cheers for posting

  • haha That was AWesome Trying To Do a Spin and you Do a Barrel Roll HAHAHA!

  • Nice... doing my CFI this summer, hope that doesn't happen to me.

  • I did that once and ya it was because i entered a little fast and pulled back a little too quick but was a blast. fun to watch thanks!!

  • i think it might have been because one wing stalled earlier than the other. - Wing over stall

  • Ha! You're not the only one who's accidentally rolled a 172 into a spin. It's embarrassing.

  • :D looks like so much fun xD haha. Cant wait to start my flying lessons soon :)

  • Ha yeah looks like you inadvertently snap rolled it by having a bit too much airspeed. Recovery was fine but, and good on ya for wanting to practice spins. Just be extra careful though, snap rolls place huge stresses on the wings! I've now spun more than a few aircraft and some of them have some surprising characteristics! Spins in a Robin have a habit of stopping the prop for instance :)

  • Was this a cross controlled stall? I know that they often roll the plane...

  • Nice snap roll! Looks like you needed to let some more airspeed bleed off before pulling back.

  • I thought that 172's were not rated for spins. every one I know did spin training in a 152 aerobatic.

  • He will figure that out when his wings fall off hahahahaha!

  • i did spin training in a 172p. they can do spins, but not classified to do ailerons roles and cuban 8s or w/e

  • They can do spins if the centre of gravity is within the Utility category

  • Thats right. I remember that from ground now.

  • We call that incipient spin... Not an aileron roll..

  • Hi people, I have a question: in MS flight simulator X is possible to fly this cessna upside down without any problems to flight straight. Is it possible in real life? And if yes, could someone do video of this? :)))) thanks

  • For about 2 seconds until the engine quits, yes.

  • lol ya, then your screwed

  • No, because the fuel is gravity feed from the wings.

  • loos the flight sim and do some real flying.....its only good for practicing IFR

  • yup

  • i dont think you realise that this is a real plane worth real money and no one is willing to do that

  • I don't think you realize that practicing spins is part of the curriculum in most flight schools.

  • i was responding to someone else saying something stupid like saying that he should do some barrel rolls or w/e but the comment has since been removed. and yes, i know that some schools have it in their curriculums (although not mine), and alot of schools just skip that since it isnt required by the faa to do the training

  • LOL!

now THAT's embarassing on my part. for some reason youtube doesnt do a good job of organizing replies.

    Anyway, cheers.

  • sweet

  • lol, nice one.

  • Oh gotta love the reaction. Awesome dude!!

  • nice :)

  • 'woah, woooaaah...haha'

Priceless man. I enjoyed that a lot.

It's not legal in Australia to spin C172s, is it different overseas?

  • Uh, Are you sure? I did some spin training recently in a 172..

  • @aviatorfta it is not legal but hey, pilots need to have some fun!!!! ;)

  • @aviatorfta yep in america it legal to spin cessnas. It is recomended to sping the aircraft with the lowest possable weight in order to avoid going into a flat spin.

  • @aviatorfta

You have to have a CFI on board to spin.

  • whoever is the guy doing these manuevers is stupid and is going to get himself killed. at least take some aerobatic training dude. you can accelerate over nve very quickly in a 172. believe me i know.

  • spinning is part of the training. It is stupid to not practice it and if recovered from correctly you will not have to worry about Vne.

  • woah that looked like fun. positive Gs the whole time i hope, dont want to starve the engine of gas

  • Nice job.

  • that's great! gotta keep that column back to perpetuate the spin, huh? nice spiral recovery though.

  • Alright... your reaction was priceless... Nice recovery...

  • haha dude,awesome....

  • Top Notch!!! I must try that!

  • lol....nice way to tumble your attitude indicator
