2.4-stroke engines are used for racing because 2-stroke engines are harder too ride;
3.The reason is because 2-stroke engines need too bee held on 8-12,000 rpm (otherwise they don't have the needed power)
4.4-stoke engines are much easier to ride fore the reason that you don't need to change gears as often as 2-storkers!!!. My vote goes to the 2-sroke bikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i like both, they are unique in what they remind me of, a 4 stroke sounds like climbin in the piney woods with the smell of hot pine needles and all the furry and delicious critters runnin around, a two smoke sounds like rippin up the sand (or track) smellin that smokey sweeet smell, and gettin a lil muddy and tired.
2 stroke has more adrenalin sound. But the discussion which is better is funny :-) They are so different! It depends on the rider what he prefers. I am riding for fun and don't mind if its 2 or 4 stroke! Both are pleasure!
@IntScout3 2 stroke 250s produce around 50hp and around 35ft lbs of torque, 250Fs produce about 35hp give or take a couple and about 20 ft lbs of torque give or take a couple. When a 4 stroke blows up, which it does more often than a 2 stroke, it costs thousands to fix. It takes 10 minutes to changes a head gasket on a 2 stroke. Now that 2 stroke 250s are allowed to race against 4 stroke 250s in the amateur racing, everyone is selling their 4 stokes to get 2 strokes 250s.
Dear 4 stroke haters, I'm sorry we 4 stroke users don't have to constantly change out spark plugs, blown heads, and spend time mixing gas, even though the bikes are similar in power. And yes, they do sound way better than 4 strokes but you can make a moped with the right exhaust sound like a corvette. Us 2-stroke users can change the plugs as often as 4-strokes as long as we know how to handle it and not pussy-foot around. Blown heads are only if you don't take care of your bike. Mixing gas takes 1 minute (5 seconds opening both lids of oil and gas/ 30 seconds of letting it drip into the container/ 25 seconds of filling it up.) I've had both types...My first bike is a rm 250, I've not had to change the plug yet. CC for CC 2str. win.

No, I haven't tried to start it in the snow, but 10 degree weather, yes. Started after 5 or 6 kicks. I've never run out of gas because I check it and know when to get more or not. You're 3 wheeler gets better gas? No duh, it's a 4-stroke and has straight gas. It doesnt need to use as much as a 2-stroke because it has oil and gas in it therefore needing more to get the gas. I don't hate 4-strokes, *I HAVE ONE*.
@Mrdrakesacc you are correct about cc for cc. but if a fast 4-stroke rider come off a 250f and jumps on a 250 2-stroke. they do not stand a chance against me and my lil 250f. guess it more so depends on the rider. top speed wise you dont gain much if any at all.

@MultiFinn100 urm.... wrong....... 4 stroke mx bikes are waaaayyyyy more unreliable than the 2 strokes. the 250 2 strokes rev to 8500ish rpm the 4 strokes rev to 12000rpm.... the 4 strokes have valve clearances that need checking every 8 hours... 4 valves, 2 cams, a chain and tensioner to go wrong.... you keep your 4 strokes... I can change my piston on my kx 250 in an hour, can you??
Yeah that two stroke blip in mid air sounds so sick. I agree the japs went four stroke to raise maintenance costs. More money for them. I grew up on four strokes but will never get rid of my 2smoke. AMA is another one to blame for letting the 450's in the 250 class. My bike is a 300 and I sneak it in a few moto x's. Funny to see their face when ya blow by em like they are standing still.

4 stroke is much easier to ride and has better bottom to mid range power, perfect for supercross tracks. It also has much better bottom end speed and will fly past a 2 stroke along a straight. To ride a 4 stroke, you have to be experience, but to ride a 2 stroke you have to be a pro.
@PhatArtz Oh i know what im talking about. 3rd gear half throttle on my 4 stroke 250 flys past my brother on 4th gear pinned on his 125. Trust me, if you are good then you will ride a 2 stroke, if u have the money then you will buy a 4 stroke and tune it to perfection. That is that you have the money to keep it running. Mine has more torque than a 450F and revs harder too, and is about 20 kilos lighter! 2 strokes are faster, light, cheaper to run and maintain, more reliable, a lot more exciting to ride and they sound awesome when they are up on the pipe!
@PhatArtz Well that 20kg of 'extra' weight is gone with sub alloy aluminium framing, weight reduction fuel tank, Carbon Fibre exhaust system, the works $15000 ontop of the $11000 to buy it... I will admit 2 Strokes are cheaper to run and maintain, wouldn't say more reliable, found the top end on my brothers 125 keeps breaking, but 4 strokes level it with the shimms replacements, piston replacements, bloody everything replacements. @IntScout3 2 stroke 250s produce around 50hp and around 35ft lbs of torque, 250Fs produce about 35hp give or take a couple and about 20 ft lbs of torque give or take a couple. When a 4 stroke blows up, which it does more often than a 2 stroke, it costs thousands to fix. It takes 10 minutes to changes a head gasket on a 2 stroke. Now that 2 stroke 250s are allowed to race against 4 stroke 250s in the amateur racing, everyone is selling their 4 stokes to get 2 strokes 250s.

Dear 4 stroke haters, I'm sorry we 4 stroke users don't have to constantly change out spark plugs, blown heads, and spend time mixing gas, even though the bikes are similar in power. And yes, they do sound way better than 4 strokes but you can make a moped with the right exhaust sound like a corvette. Yeah, hate all you want but 2-strokes will never be in the lead against 4-strokes again. Sincerely, A 4 stroke user.

@IntScout3 I have 4 strokes, 2 strokes and even a diesel bike. I don't hate 4 strokes, they have their place. What I don't like is all the people who slag off 2 strokes and say that 4 strokes produce more power. Then they refer to racing and completely ignore the fact that 4 strokes are allowed a 100% capacity advantage over 2 strokes and still insist the 4 strokes are more powerful. When you give them the actual number 250 vs 250 or 500 vs 500 or 125 against 125 they start lying

@IntScout3 we 2 stroker love our bikes, so we take our time to mix gas, and i dont change my spark plug so often. I think if more AMA pros would ride a 2 stroke you can see that it dont matter wether they ride a 2 stroke or 4 stroke. Oh and have fun to pay the workshop if your valves are broken.

Us 2-stroke users can change the plugs as often as 4-strokes as long as we know how to handle it and not pussy-foot around. Blown heads are only if you don't take care of your bike. Mixing gas takes 1 minute (5 seconds opening both lids of oil and gas/ 30 seconds of letting it drip into the container/ 25 seconds of filling it up.) I've had both types...My first bike is a rm 250, I've not had to change the plug yet. CC for CC 2str. win.

4-strokes may take longer to blow up but when they do its a whole lot more money and work to rebuild one. So I'm just gonna stick with my 2-stroke.

ever run outof gas. i bet my 4 stroke 3 wheeler gets better runs than ur 2 strokes. I indeed have been on a two stroke and it does perform better. BUT, i feel great FREEDOM, then out of gas, i did that all day then decided i prefer 2 strokes on chain saws WHERE THEY BELONG.

No, I haven't tried to start it in the snow, but 10 degree weather, yes. Started after 5 or 6 kicks. I've never run out of gas because I check it and know when to get more or not. You're 3 wheeler gets better gas? No duh, it's a 4-stroke and has straight gas. It doesnt need to use as much as a 2-stroke because it has oil and gas in it therefore needing more to get the gas. I don't hate 4-strokes, *I HAVE ONE*.

@Mrdrakesacc you are correct about cc for cc. but if a fast 4-stroke rider come off a 250f and jumps on a 250 2-stroke. they do not stand a chance against me and my lil 250f. guess it more so depends on the rider. top speed wise you dont gain much if any at all.

And have you seen what it costs to rebuild a top end on a 2 stroke compared to a 4 stroke? I could buy another 2 stroke bike for what it costs for a rebuild on a 4 stroke.
oh, and taking 40 seconds out of your day to put some oil in gas is definitely the biggest pain in the ass I have ever had to deal with.....

@MultiFinn100 urm.... wrong....... 4 stroke mx bikes are waaaayyyyy more unreliable than the 2 strokes. the 250 2 strokes rev to 8500ish rpm the 4 strokes rev to 12000rpm.... the 4 strokes have valve clearances that need checking every 8 hours... 4 valves, 2 cams, a chain and tensioner to go wrong.... you keep your 4 strokes... I can change my piston on my kx 250 in an hour, can you??

Yeah that two stroke blip in mid air sounds so sick. I agree the japs went four stroke to raise maintenance costs. More money for them. I grew up on four strokes but will never get rid of my 2smoke. AMA is another one to blame for letting the 450's in the 250 class. My bike is a 300 and I sneak it in a few moto x's. Funny to see their face when ya blow by em like they are standing still.

4 stroke is much easier to ride and has better bottom to mid range power, perfect for supercross tracks. It also has much better bottom end speed and will fly past a 2 stroke along a straight. To ride a 4 stroke, you have to be experience, but to ride a 2 stroke you have to be a pro.

Trust me, if you are good then you will ride a 2 stroke, if u have the money then you will buy a 4 stroke and tune it to perfection. That is that you have the money to keep it running. @TheLegitShlt Your heavy 250F would be left in the dust of my Gasgas300 2 stroke! I have been riding 2 and 4 strokes for years but you wont get me off a good 2 stroke! Mine has more torque than a 450F and revs harder too, and is about 20 kilos lighter! 2 strokes are faster, light, cheaper to run and maintain, more reliable, a lot more exciting to ride and they sound awesome when they are up on the pipe!

@PhatArtz Well that 20kg of 'extra' weight is gone with sub alloy aluminium framing, weight reduction fuel tank, Carbon Fibre exhaust system, the works $15000 ontop of the $11000 to buy it... I will admit 2 Strokes are cheaper to run and maintain, wouldn't say more reliable, found the top end on my brothers 125 keeps breaking, but 4 strokes level it with the shimms replacements, piston replacements, bloody everything replacements. Ever been to a superx mate try and hear the 2 stokes on the start
