Smh, the Colts passed up Manning for this guy with a noodle for an arm? Wow... If they think this guy is going to be making Peytonesque passes, they are fooling themselves!
@theone1087 You guys who think Luck has a noodle arm or a slow release have no idea of what you are talking about. First, at 6'4" 234 lbs he is already bigger than 80% of NFL starters, and that's before he's gone through an NFL weight training program. You think a guy that big has a noodle arm? He just doesn't use it because he doesn't need to.
But I wouldn't really be as worried about his arm strength as his slow release. He can do OK in a West Coast offense with a marginal arm, but that release is not going to translate well to NFL pass rushes.
Watch a few more of my Luck videos. The reason you think it is a slow release is that he releases the ball far earlier than any college QB except maybe Kellen Moore. If you release the ball earlier, you don't have to put that much zip on it, get it?
@16Un Because both of them have to for the same reasons. Moore has probably the weakest arm of any starting QB in DI last season. He likely will not even be drafted. Luck isnt' that bad, but there's no doubt he must compensate for his slow release and barely average at best arm strength.
@dougsaroma You should watch more video of all QBs and use some physics. First, in order to make a ball travel X distance, the ball MUST be leaving the hand at the SAME velocity for ALL QBs. That is a law of physics. So when Luck throws this pass 45 yds, he is heaving the ball at the same velocity as your beloved RG3 or Kellen Moore.
@dougsaroma (cont. of above) What you are mislead by is that Luck doesn't hurry his throw because he is actually ready to throw well before most QBs would be set-- he makes it look like his toss is slow because he's not rushing to get it off. As for arm strength, all you guys who think he has a weak arm are laughable. He never had to throw it hard because of his anticipation. The stats will come out at the combine or his pro day-- watch, he can throw it 65-70 yards.
@dougsaroma More comments from the RG3 lover....You are mistaking out of hand velocity for how quickly he gets rid of the ball. If you react slowly, even 0.1 sec less, you have to put more heat on the ball. On the other hand, if you react faster than anyone else, you don't need to put that much zip on it.
Why is it that everyone who wants to believe Luck has a strong arm posts this video? Every time Luck throws more than 20 yards his receiver has to slow down and ends up catching the ball running backwards, just like in this video.
@16Un RGIII, the best QB in college football last season, on the winning TD pass vs. OU. The ball traveled 54 yards in the air, back to the right, off his back foot, just before being plastered by a pass rusher, on a rope just over the defenders in a pinpoint perfect spot.
Luck's pass only went about 42 yards in the air with every thing he had, floated like a balloon and the wide open receiver had to nearly stop to catch it while the defenders nearly caught up with him.
@dougsaroma Again, laughable. Luck used everything he had to throw it 42 yds. Are you kidding me. He barely stepped into it. Floated like a balloon? That is a flat arc dude-- see what everyone else says. Clearly you are in the RG3 is the best therefore I must tear down everyone else camp. No doubt RG3 is a great athlete and what you reference is a great throw. But check out my video of Luck throwing 50 yds vs. ASU while falling down. It was all arm, no setting of the feet.
Not really a bullet but it traveled pretty fast. He didn't arc it like a rainbow. When qbs arc throws you can tell how much arm strength a qb has luck threw it at a flat arc not a rainbow meaning this kid had great arm strength
The replay @ 0:43 is the best look at it.....that's a pro throw, if not a Pro Bowl throw. Plain and simple. It's strange -- if you compliment Luck these days, everyone says, 'stop sucking him off!' hahaha
@Mr69mc69 Not at all. That was probably the same arc that would be needed for an Aaron Rodgers throw or Tom Brady throw. No ball will travel 50 yards in a straight line.
Colts better pick this guy, he has lots of talent, but they need to get him when Peyton Manning can still teach him a thing or to, plus the Colts won't have to re-do their franchise. Andrew Luck is a really good passer, ust like Peyton. (I personally don't think Andrew is or ever will be as good as Peyton, but hey, just my opinion.)
@MilkyWayRoxmaSox hey u dont know if the colts are going to get him look at the vikings even thought they have ponder they could still get him and i do think that the vikings will get the first overal pick and get andrew luck
@16Un What are you talking about? Maybe most college QBs would put more air under it, but the only amazing part of this throw is that his play action had the safeties so far out of position. Look, Andrew Luck is a great player, but you don't have to revel in everything he does. I just hope Luck doesn't develop a Tebow type following here with groupies claiming his shit smells like roses.
@TheQDizz -- That is the point, most college QBs would have to arc a 50 yd throw because that's about as far as they can throw. Luck throws this ball in a relatively flat arc due to his arm strength. This video was uploaded a year ago back when Luck wasn't really that well known around the country-- nothing about idolatry but letting people know about what the guy can do when they hadn't seen him play.
@TheQDizz Luck will never have a following like Tebow. He is not as captivating when he speaks, he is not a Heisman winner, he is not a two time national champion, and he is not a religious idiot.
Stanford - Luck flea-flicker vs. UCLA look up that video. its from his fresh year.. he has a stronger arm now. but there i don't think he threw it as fast as he could but it traveled 55 yards in a hurry.
this does not show his arm strength he throws like a shortstop. If he nows hes got a lot of time he is gonna make it easier for the WR to catch the ball. he does this especially on 3rd down to get the first.. just smart
you are an idiot - Ryan Leaf had an attitude problem - cocky and didn't feel he needed to practice as much as everyone else. He blew his chance because he was more of a distraction than anything else. Luck has a Peyton Manning mind set and will be a superstar in the NFL.
Honestly, I dont think Peyton will start all year, Chad Henne sucks dick, Chiefs have already got Matt Cassel, Minnesota have Ponder, Tarvaris Jackson is a cocksucker, and Denver will trade Orton and Tebow wont work out. It'll be either the Colts, Dolphins, Seattle or Denver who get him. Probs Colts or Dolphins, depending on whether or not Mannings plays.
@Exessen Hey Hey, you can read. It means he can't play Quarterback ? Surely you would know this if you actually watched a Seattle game. Lulz, Dumbfuck.
