until 30' ago i had never heard this wonderful voice, now i really do think Celine sucks. for this voice can only compare with the greats, Amy Grant and Elaine Paige
@miriamgoldy I was in Spain at the time and she just move there from England at my request after meeting her two days from the end of her vacation. We we married four months later. That was three children and 44 years ago. I tell her every day how beautiful she is and have never tired of her beautiful British Midlands accent, her flashing green eyes and the same smile she gave me so long ago. So keep smiling you never know who you will meet next.
I'm sure you are in your own way. Remember the greatest beauty comes from within. When you meet people or pass them on the street give them your biggest smile. They will remember it the rest of the day and some will think of you as a most beautiful creature. My wife when I met her thought her nose was too big, her rear too big, her legs too short and more. I saw a beautiful woman with golden hair, flashing green eyes, a beautiful English accent , very intelligent and sexy.
Now my question is why is she singing her "r" sound like she's Danish? In all of her other Norwegian songs, she does the Norwegian/Swedish "r", but here she's doing it like a Dane/German.
@ankra12 And they all make their R sound like the Danes and Germans? Interesting! Is she actually from that region, or does she just sing this song like it?
Bergen's strong foreign influence, such as Hanseatic League merchants in the period from about 1350 to 1750, has had a profound impact on the Bergen dialect. The Hanseatic merchants spoke variations of Low German. Also, Bergen being the major Norwegian city during the Dano-Norwegian union from 1536 to 1814, Bergensk absorbed more of the Danish than other Norwegian dialects.
Being the origins of the written language and thus having higher status, Danish continued to have an impact on bergensk into the 20th century, and a Dano-Norwegian koiné sociolect, resembling Riksmål, is still spoken, although it in recent decades has become much more similar to Bokmål. Some originally Low German words found their way to the Bergen dialect through Danish.
The "r"s are Uvular trills, as in French. It probably spread to Bergen (and Kristiansand) some time in the 18th century, overtaking the Rolled r in the time span of about 2-3 generations. Until recent decades' developments in neighboring rural dialects, this was an easy way of distinguishing them from the Bergen dialect.
I believe that this was Sissel's first hit. She was 17 when she first recorded it. I have most of her albums, all with a very different looking Sissel on each. Thanks for the translation. I always loved the song, but never had a clue what it was about. And the different looks? I love this one the most (and she has kept it on some of her later material posted on YouTube.) It is the towel-dried hair look. I am serious. It makes me crazy. Lovely voice, lovely hair, lovely face, lovely woman.
Sissel is the finest soprano of the world today. Her voice is like a songbird singing. Soft as velvet, very clear and so pure. Her voice can reach high above the skies and deep inside our souls. A very gifted and extremely talented singer of our time.
Thank you for sharing it with us!

@Spurz30 I`m afraid you mix up speach and writings. You can`t do that.
