  • does this work if you only have 1 rock band drum set? also does it work if its a ps2 drum set?

  • @coolkidrq

    si tambien funciona

    (if it also works)

  • Have you tried this drum with Dtxmania or digiband? if you did how well does it work?

  • Do you have any alternative free midi software other than Drumsite?...cause it is not free anymore!

  • this work with ps3 drums too?

  • carpron doesnt download anything.

  • Tring to use with FL Studio. I get a kick drum sound when hitting RB drums pads. How do I change to set up different sounds for different pads? I just started with this stuff for something to do while recovering from broken back. Trying to figure this out but pain medicine seems to make my brain slow down. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Any way of setting this up with three RB drumsets?

  • My first set works fine, then when i plug in my 2nd drum set, nothin works and i have to reopen the applications. Any help is appreciated. Thanks for the great video otherwise.

  • I really need help doing this with my ps3 drum set can anyone help?? Please

  • I really need help doing this with my ps3 drum set can anyone help?? Please

  • @OMarSANchez77 RB2MIDI - google it 'cos it won't let me post a link here.

Works for me, only thing is that the RB kit has no velocity sensitivity. I REALLY wanna use the GH/BH kit for my main drum parts and the RB kit for percussive stuff like the illustrious cowbell!!

  • this is a simple and affordable way to simulate a real drummer. Thanks for the tutorial. In this way I have done some cover songs that I like. see my channel

  • i have win7 64bit and i can't get it to work with the rock band kit but it works with my rock revolution kit.. and i want to use both

  • Comment removed

  • esta es una manera economica y simple de simular una bateria real. Gracias por el tutorial. De esta manera ya he hecho algunos cover de canciones que me gustan.

  • is there a cfg file to make me only select one remote cuz i only have one drumset :S

  • do i plug the drum into the comp or xbox?

  • @Adren4linRush are you serious?

  • @SuperBrandango dude i plugged it into the comp and it didnt work, how would it work if it was in my 360? soo ya im pretty serious haha

  • @Adren4linRush well when you plug the drums into your computer it should show that its installing the driver for it, it clearly says Rock Band drums on your pc

  • @SuperBrandango that never happened, does it have to be with two drums?

  • Can i do the same with the guitar????i intend to use it as drum set too

  • cani use 1 wii one and 1 xbox one?

  • i put carporn instead of carpron

  • The two files at carpron aren't there.

  • Hyey ive just got 2 drum sets now and its brilliant but, the cymbols seem alot louder then the tom toms, can i manually change the volume of each pad?

  • what is the song in the end of the vid

  • @tommyiscool007 Atreyu - Bleeding Mascara

  • Im having a bit of trouble, i only have 1 drum kit. but watching this video im going to get another 2morow :p only a 10er so. but yeah i only have one but i can only get the damn cymbols to work i have no snare or tom toms, should i just wait for 2morow or?

  • i now figured it out...on my solo rock band drums here's my configuration.

in the Joy to Key application replace the buttons with the following by double clicking:

    button 1 - U (floor tom)

    button 2 - ] (hi hats)

    button 3 - I (Tom 1)

    button 4 - Q (snare)

    button 5 - H (kick)

    button 6 - ; (Ride)

    button 9 - E (crash)

  • @pickandstrings cheers mate, but im probably going to go buy myself another drumkit 2morow, i mean they selling them for £10 in HMV, i would rather pay £20 for a eletric drum kit then £100+ or probably more then that

  • i only have one drum set up...and i'm only hearing hi hats and cymbals on my drum pad...any help on this? how is drum mapping done? be specific please give us detailed info on this..thanks..

  • hi...i'm only using one rockband drum..i followed your instructions...but all my pads sounds hi hats and cymbals...how am i going to remap the pads. thanks...

  • Does this work with the ps3 rockband drums too?

  • @XX8A7X8XX yes if the ps3 has a usb plug(i don't have a ps3 so i don't know)

  • @therocker33dc Welli tried it and this seems to not work when i go into drumsite

BUT when i do go into drum machine, it works from there. When i plug in my second set though, it shows up but it doesnt play, i dont know it it is a problem with the drums them selves or what

  • @XX8A7X8XX dunno

  • Awesome video. Suffered from the same issues with Drum Machine. This works great. Thanks for posting.

  • the files don't seem to be available anymore on carpron.com

is there any other way to get them?

  • @paulbroland yo I found the same problem but they are there - theres a couple of picture files on there when you search for "rockband" be sure to put a space in and search for "rock band" this is the link you need.

  • will this work for dtxmania

  • okay I have mixcraft and ez drummer can I use that instead? If so I would just have to download Joy to key.. right?

  • what´s the song ?

  • i flowed it perfectly but im only using 1 kit. and its not working. would only usuing 1 stop it from working?

  • is there any way to use a Wii version?

  • is it possible to change the ride bell to a ride cymbal

  • @mezbez12 Yes. You can change anything to your liking.

  • @sk8er251cc

i only have one drum set up...and i'm only hearing hi hats and cymbals on my drum pad...any help on this? how is drum mapping done? be specific please give us detailed info on this..thanks..

  • how do you make it a double bass?

  • thats great!! Any way to use this with reason or ableton??

  • Amazingly simple! Thank you so very much for your time and effort to share this video with us.

  • how can I use this with a single kit

  • @rcboatdriver1234: remap! red drum: button 3, yellow: 4, blue: 1, green: 2, bass drum: 5. there are several drum sounds that you can find while playing with your keyboard, but the most convenient are: q, snare; a: closed hihat, u: tom, e: crash, w: bass drum. use these to map (hope they are universal, cause if they're not, you will have to find them yourself) joytokey. good luck

  • So, am I going to need 2 kits or could I get it to run with one?

  • do you need xbox, will it work with ps2

  • Is there any way to asign the green cymbal and green drum (on one kit) different sounds? Also for some reason I can't get the yellow drum or cymbal to work...

  • @wansomefob never mind about the yellow drum/cymbal

  • Comment removed

  • dose it work with ps2 drums

  • @MrDukeecw yes

  • my question is, which version of Rock Band would I need drums for? is it compatible with both 1 and 2, or just one or the other? sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but i only have RB2, so i wasn't sure if the drums are compatible with both games.

also, thanks a lot for this vid. me and my friend are trying to start a band but we don't have a real drum set, so MIDI is going to be how we go.

  • okay so i downloaded the program (btw -werks great!)

    bt ive got a prob:

which pad is what button? like for example: red= button one

    yellow= button two...etc.

im trying to remap the whole set because everything is just cymbals and rides

  • @ghmr0ckr hey, i figured it out....it was pretty pain staking tho:

    red= button 3

    yellow= button 4

    blue= button 1

    green= button 2

    pedal= button 5

red is snare(Q)...yellow is closed hat(A)...blue is crash(E)...

    green is F.tom(Y)...pedal is bass(W)...

i didnt figure out stuff for double drums, but ill be working on it

  • hey man thanx so much! great vid-very simple and fast.

questions-is ther a way to only use one drumset?

-im using a PS2/3 drumset (rockband) and a wii drumset (rockband2)...is ther a possibility it would work?

-^that question was because my laptops USB drives dont work.the drums connect and the light on the drums go on, but i cant use them..same with a webcam)

  • Anyway to make that a double bass?

  • @DrowningYourMother Yes, you just have to remap the keys.

  • @sk8er251cc Sounds awesome.. thanks.

  • @DrowningYourMother yea, just get a "Y" headphone adapter and another kick pedal.

  • what keys do you have the bottom drumset set to?

  • :D thnx

  • can the drum be wireless

  • cant you use your ps3 rock band kit aswell?, i have ion.

  • can this work with one rockband drum set and a rockband 2 drumset?

  • ca you change the sound on the pads

  • How do you actually connect to the pc? Xbox wireless gaming reciever?

  • @ableite he is using the rock band 1 drums that have a usb cord

  • Hey, I downloaded toprack and made it toprack.cfg, joy2key sees it, but nothing is set. Windows detects my 2 kits just fine. I can get it working from here, but I'm just wondering how you set it up, and how you set up secondaries (like open / closed highhat)

  • does this work on ps3?

  • can u run double bass

  • two questions. first are the drums interchangeable (for instance could i use the second pedal as another kick drum). and would it be possible to record the drums using a recording program?

  • can you use ps3 rock band drums

  • wow!! looks like to easy, but, with this connection mode, could i play to rock band?, well i'm very interested to play it, bcause i completed all songs, and i'm looking fow my own songs..., well, my favorite songs, (i can't play any instrument) xDDD

    thanx!!!

  • Can u use wii drums also?

  • we cant hear what your saying when you talking and drumming at the same time...duh.. but thanks neway I got the jist

  • Yea - I did the voice recording and put it down on top of the video - I was too lazy to try and fix it. haha

  • Firstly, thanks for the vid! Works great except for one thing: I still get lag. It's better than the lag I had with Drum Machine, but still quite noticeable. Any ideas on how to remedy this?

  • Try running your computer in the smallest resolution possible. Also shut down all other programs (except for the 2 you need - Joy to Key and Drumsite). You may have already thought of those things - beyond that, I'm not sure.

  • @sk8er251cc I'm guessing it's my soundcard. I'm running the apps on my Acer notebook (2.2Ghz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, Windows 7). Thanks for the reply though.

  • @Jevousza could be your sound card .... there is a lag between sound happening on your computer and sound coming out of the speakers .... with cheap sound cards it is bigger .. when you buy better ones it is less lagg .. ever notice the music dont start exectly when you ckick play?, ... or your processor might not be good enough to process all the into fast enough ... close background programs

  • is more easy this: download drum machine--> open drum machine--> select free play and listo!! asi de easy

  • does this work with two madcatz portable drum sets ???

  • Not sure

  • Joy to Key? I just plug em in, and it auto recognises as a 360 controller.

  • need more cowbell! (nice tutorial!)

  • is there any way i can assign my mad catz cymbals to play different sounds other than the drum sound of the color its assigned to

  • saw another guy do it on here, you have to wire them into the "start" and "back" buttons, hope it helps :)

  • @88hybrid thanks but how do i do that?

  • there was instructions on the video, seemed quite simple but i do have a fair understanding of electronics. sorry i can't recall the video name but I know it was a 5 parter. hope that helps!

  • @88hybrid oh was it by some one with a youtube acc named TheButcher6969?

  • if the drums are wirless how do you go about this??

  • You buy a wireless receiver for XboX 360 controllers ;)

  • do you need two receivers or just one? planning on doing this and just wondering in advance, cheers!

  • if i would like to only use one drum kit would i have to not put in top rack.cfg?

  • Comment removed

  • when i plug my drumset in the computer it wont play any sounds what do i do next?

  • You can, you'll have to go into some options (sorry I can't remember the specifics)

  • hey im trying to do this but how can i get the double bass to work? only one pedal will work.

  • One pedal is bass kick drum Button 5 (H) on the joy stick 2, and one is Top rack button 3 ( ] ) cymbals

  • You would have to set up the top rack button 5 to (H)

  • Just tried it, yes it works, double kick drums

  • If you are having problems with the drums being assigned backwards just open your Joy To Key program, go to Joystick 2 and change your buttons to this configuration. You will need to double click on the button then change the letter in the yellow highlighted box.

    Button 1 = Y, Button 2 = U, Button 3 = Q, Button 4 = I and Button 5 = H

  • hey i have it but when i use it red bottom is tom 3

and its all if it was lefty mode

  • This is pretty well thought out, but you still end up spending a lot of effort just to make a shitty drum set. You could have probably gotten an ion drum set for not much more and then you can have as many pads and cymbals as you want!

  • The rockband game was a gift. So I didn't spend any money (that's why I wanted to figure this out). I eventually bought a real drumset (check the video above w/ the guitar in the picture).

  • @Bryan2763 $300 is "not much more"? i got a madcatz portable rock band kit for $20. i think thats a $280 saving and well worth the ten minutes it takes to follow this through. i might get a second one and set it up like he has it.

  • is there any way to use cymbals with this?

  • This is an awesome video. Thanks for the help. Quick question though: I have the same configuration, and the second hi-hat pedal triggers the "Go to bar" function in Drumsite, rather than an open and close action. Any tips on rectifying this?

  • when drum site is up, hit different keys on your keyboard and you will find that certain keys on the key board will trigger certain sounds. Figure out which drum sound is the one you are looking for. Then input that key (for example - space bar) into joy to key

  • if i tried this on an ion drumset woud it work?

it has 3 cymbals, 4 pads and 2 pedals.

i kinda want to mess around whit this :P

  • I'm sure you could get it to work, you'd probably have to do a little bit of tweaking.

  • can I buy this drum kit and play guitar hero world tour?

  • So, is there any way I can re-map what pad makes which sound?...

  • Easiest way to do that is change the key assignments in joy to key - just experiment

  • @sk8er251cc

... i see. But do you know if theres a way to make it a double bass?

  • Yes - Figure out which key on the keyboard makes the bass drum sound in drumsite. Then go to joy to key and you will have to make 2 buttons trigger that key on the keyboard. I can't remember the specific key on the keyboard or the specific button on the controller - so you'll just have to play w/ it - it shouldn't be hard though.

  • @sk8er251cc

    Cool thanks! =D

  • OK it looks nice but can You actually play The RockBand game on PC? or is there some kind of substitute for PC that I can use drum set with?

  • You can't play rock band on PC - this is to give you a fully functional electronic drumset using the rockband drums and a PC

  • @k4ma There's FoFiX

  • yes, dtxmania is a game you could use this with. I'ts just like real drums because it has so many pads. Also, you don't need to download any of this software to play dtxmania. just two kits. the computer should recognize them when you plug in.

  • will this work with the PS3 RB2 drums?

  • That's what I'm wondering?!

  • when I plug in my drums the light on the drum set comes on, but then disappears with the arrival of the windows hardware install wizard. so joy to key won't go unless that is corrected. any ideas?

  • You need to install the microsoft driver so that WIndows will recognize your drum kit

  • I use 64 bit is there an app for 64 bit?

  • Not sure, but I'm sure this 32-bit program will work on your 64-bit machine

  • this works well thanks

  • does this work withp ps3 rums?

  • yes

  • xpadder works like joy to key, i play call of duty with it

  • Thanks for this video sk8er. I posted a response video showing my setup. I'm running EZ Drummer, no lag.

  • has anyone out there used this jam with a band

  • DOES THIS WORK WITH Wii DRUMS??

  • @TheRelentlessProduct Are they usb cords?

  • Just wanted to post up and say thanks for posting this. I was able to get up and running using your video.

I have two xbox 360 RB1 USB drum kits. I was able to use JoytoKey, Reaper, and EZDrummer to get my drums to work via EZDrummer.

There's no lag, works great, and I can easily create new JoytoKey config files to remap the keys for each different EZDrummer drum kit (twisted kit, drumkit from hell, standard, etc).

  • I use the left bass pedal to toggle the high hat (open or closed). Doesn't sound perfect, but I can now learn the drums with what I already have, instead of buying an entire kit.

I had already built a double bass circuit for my RB1 drums. I plan on using that on one drum set, and using a stock RB1 pedal on the other set of drums for the high hat control.

I should make a video to contribute and show my setup. Thanks again, great video and easy to set up!

  • firstly will it work with guitar hero drum?

and secondly does it have to be for xbox 360 only or it can be for wii? thanks

  • well than0s29...I'm pretty sure it won't work for the wii for the fact the the xbox 360 cords are USB cords...in which for the wii they arn't...unless you can download some program on your computer that accepts wii controllers, I don't think you can...

  • I'm wanting to use 1 rockband set to expand my electronic drum set. How will I do this?

  • Hey dude, I got both the downloads to work and followed your instructions pefectly..The top rack works fine using Joy to Key and everything but I cant get the bottom half to work......Like the snare and everything I dont know what the problem is but I hope you can help me dude....I think it might be because Im usin the PS drumset but I dunno....hope to hear from you soon...btw this tutorial is awesome thanks bro!

  • hey dude i tried goin to carpron and typed in Rockband but it only gave to the pics of the drumset and not the downloadable files

  • would it be velocity sensitive....

this would be great for band practice...

    nice vid dude...

  • No - different sounds don't come out for different velocity hits.

  • how do i get the software to recognize my drums?

  • fuckin great man...

I have a band and we're suffering with the lack of places to practice... And an acoustic drum sounds too loud to put it in my apt..

do you think I can play with my friends using this rock band drums? Of course I'm not expecting great sound, just enough for us to play together, write songs and then go to studio
