  • Love it!! Thanks for sharing this. I was born in england..6/7/67. Summer of Love...a bit young too remember, but i can feel it sort of. This is a better living vision/facet of humanity, then killing, & endless wars. "whaa happened?" ...cycles/waves, i guess. d'oh! Peace=harmony=balance=love

  • ok los 60

  • What happened?

  • 60's were the news 20's !!

  • Oh I would have totally loved the 60's! Fun Fun Fashion!

  • wtf old men strip!!

  • fab

  • GOD!WHY YOU DON'T PUT ME IN 60'S?

  • i wish i lived in this time..great looks for both men and women :)

  • i wish more guys and gals dressed like this still. check out these fellas with belts on and proper-fitting clothes and jackets, how nice is that? damn.

  • Just dont take any of it too seriously, or you'll miss the whole point

  • great

  • What a great time for fashion and music. I look to past decades for inspiration in my clothing choices (pre-French Revolution, Edwardian, old military uniforms)... Heck, and I wish I could drive one of those vintage Volkswagen vans. Looks like young people back then actually danced, too, instead of just grinding and bouncing (like my friend said, "dancing" at prom is pretty much now degraded to jumping up and down)....

  • @astaliini

    Me too.

  • Looking at this makes it seem like '60s London didn't have an ugly or fat person in it! At least not the trendy areas.

  • @Ulansananelan uhh...what? lol

  • WIsh I had a boyfriend who dressed like that..

  • funny how london seemed so british.... nowadays you'd be lucky to find a brit in london.... it's all asians and blacks.

  • @TheYaom so where's the british goes? they travel to asia! hha

  • @yoandizini you are an idiot

  • @poxyrob errr??? you too,....

  • purple lace up boots, purple lace up boots!

  • Everytime I see these vintage vids, I can't help but wonder if any of the people who were in these vids ever happen to see themselves on it TODAY, or if anyone can identify an old neighbor or relative...huumm...

  • 1min 34 it's Sean Penn in Carlito's Way

  • we still wear colour/dress and listen to music from this era,as far as time and progress is concerned you can have all of it YUK!!!!!!

  • This doc is 'funny' and so is the merry-go-round circus background music.

  • So, from which generation, was this style of clothing originated from?!? The teenageres, the twenty year olds? The older folks?

  • i absolutely love this video!! 60's were amazing..I guess i'm a 90's child..unfortunatly!

    feyandreal.blogpsot.com

  • Swinging 60s London! I Like!

  • mary quent.. I LOVE YOU

  • Oh my God, Andy Samberg.

  • @RainaLeGrand What about him?

  • 8:38 "Don't take any of it too seriously, or you'll 'miss the whole point' " Pun intended (she's wearing one of those pointy bra's)!!!

  • Yah it's Iggy the Eskimo

    Shes so pretty!

  • Can anyone identify this music? It is great and cheesy.

  • What a great video. Many thanks for sharing.

  • Ooo, lots of fun! Thanks for posting!

  • ok children its time to get Mod you can do it!

  • that outfit at 4:12 is AMAZING!

  • 60's fashion is great and the hair. you have to love the hair too!

  • All the cool young people in this video are now the old fogies that smell like Gold Bond and wear sweatpants to the supermarket.

    IT'LL HAPPEN TO YOU!

  • @DitherSwitch No, they're the ones with the interesting stories to tell, from a dynamic time that everyone else born afterwards seem to be jonesing for. I don't think you'll have the same mystique come old age time.

  • @DitherSwitch unless you do the hip thing and die young first

  • i'am 20, and i wear lots of 60s/70s/80s inspired/vintage clothing combined with some sort of modern clothing. I love thriftshops, and vintage.

  • This is just pure quality!

  • love the yellow tight! love everyting..

  • lol love it

  • Great video; It could be much better without the boring narrator though.

  • That is a very negative commentary by the narrator, he said London wasn't swinging, of course it was swinging! I can't believe how poshly tv announcers spoke in those days, he is obviously a boring old fart who doesn't understand the younger generation.

  • The Controversy and exploitations of Models, even daterape scenarios that happen within Fashion Modeling...

I shot this all around the world in Milan, Paris, Bangkok, London, Athens, while modeling... it's free to watch:)

  • Oh! My God! London! The 60s! Oh! I love 50s, 60s and 70s! This is another my deep passion! ♥ ♥ ♥ To me, being a passionate age, the tears come out when I see these pictures! Here that reminds me: "London fog"! Why was not born in the early '40s? :_)

  • I am SO jealous of my mum and dad's generation.... They got The Beatles, the Stones, the miniskirt, Woodstock, flower power, mods, mini coopers, Carnaby Street, Psychedelia, Go-Go dancing, the Apple Boutique, the peace movement, mods and rockers, white gogo boots and gorgeous hair teased bouffants. What do I get? Computers and cell phones, lame fashions and Amy winehouse. GRRR!!!

  • @CuteMcBeauty! Okay you are right... really right!! also today we do not see the amazing jazz like frank sinatra, loui, ella, etta and so on... But we have a different kind of music like: Thieves like us, Caribou, peaches, Cristal Castles, Chk Chk Chk, and so on... also today we have the freedom that we didnt have before! So at the same time, I'm okay with our era... cause of this freedom...

  • @1MyGreece Look, I know every era has its own good things. But I would trade all the goddies of today to re-live the 60's. Also in regards to freedom, it STARTED in the 60's as well, so... i'd still prefer to live back then :) BTW, no offense or anything but I have never heard of ANY of the bands you mentioned. :(

  • It's not an offense, dont worry. But you dont know these bandas probably cause you like the boysband beatles ;) anyway.... I agree with you like I said before but I'm happy in live in my era. Good day to you and all the best!

  • @CuteMcBeauty

I do agree with you SO much, I'm 16 and I fuckin hae my generation D:

  • @MsMoonTheLoon you gotta do what you can to make your statement, screw everyone else. I have to agree with you that you got a raw deal as far as current culture is concerned... still there's a lot of cool stuff happening out there, just gotta look for it!

  • @CuteMcBeauty

How in the hell could you forge PINK FLOYD?!

  • @CuteMcBeauty well i think its time to do something about it,instead of just envying what we cant do anything about! Our generation can be great, but we are the ones that have to make what it becomes first.

  • @CuteMcBeauty don't feel so bad!! a.) music is art, just because the mona lisa is old doesn't mean you can't appreciate it's beauty!! :) and in this day and age you are allowed to wear whatever you want!! i am 18 and i do not own a cell phone.

  • @CuteMcBeauty totally agree! those were good times :c

  • @CuteMcBeauty Hi I really like your opinion about the 60's and for my research project i am researching how fashion has changed and I need to seek permission from you to use this as a source of information. Would it be okay with you if I use this as a source? I would really appreciate it thank you :)

  • @JUsherTrigga Well yeah, it's fine by me, except that this video is not mine heheh.... Butsure, if you need something or if you need to quiote my opinion, go ahead, I don't mind. :)

  • @CuteMcBeauty Thankyou :)

  • @CuteMcBeauty Amy winehouse is great.... she's a least talented... you got reality TV, trashy gangstah pop culture, justin bieber!

  • @TheYaom OOOOOH MY GOSH!!! Now I feel suicidal... Justin Bieber!!! That's it, life today sucks!!! ***taking gun to my head and firing... BOOM!***

No, seriously. The lead vocalist of Herman's Hermits was also like 15 but at least their music was kinda cool and playful. Bieber should be put away in a kennel somewhere until it's legal to throw him in jail!!!

  • @CuteMcBeauty Oh hey hey hey now, don't go knockin' my Amy! LOL. And I totes rock a bouffant! ;D

  • Dig the groovey silver dress at @ 8:10 to 8:14, beautiful I would wear that today. Lovely!! Granny Takes a Trip was a very famous store, I had heard about that store in the late 60's early 70's and I live in the States.

  • Great to see Chelsea again as it was then. I grew up just off the Kings road and was 16 years old in 1967 the first "summer of love" so naturally hung out at the hip cafes & pubs and bought my flares from groovy boutiques, it was a gas alright. Call me old fashioned but I still love the mini skirts

  • Comment removed

  • i really can't.

everything in this video is the epitome of the perfect place.

    its all so beautiful

  • Man I wish i could go back to the 60s they had very beautiful fashion and i wish i looked like the girls from the 60s:/

  • Beautiful dress at 4:05! So simple and pretty..

  • '60s not 60's

  • ... a time when it was worth living.

We should unite, buy an island, and relive the 50's- 60's! :)

  • @FREAK9364 I'm all for that!

  • soho!!

  • I worked in Carnaby Street and Kings Road at this time, and it is wonderful to see this footage as there are lots of faces that I knew and one or two that I still do.

It was a wonderful period in my life, and I so enjoyed going to work everyday, as you never knew who you would be serving, as everyday someone famous from the movie and music scene would come in to buy the latest fashions. And if a time machine was available, I would go back like a shot, I also would love to be that young again.

  • ....where women and men still had class & style, god for me it seems like paradise on earth... i don't wanna watch tv anymore, you turn it on and either you hear bad news or see naked ppl.

I hate this decade, I'm in... cuz i was born 60 years to late.

  • Comment removed

  • A fun decade. White, trendy, friendly, great clobber and super music. Where have all the good times gone?

  • I grew up in the 60's, take me back please!! I have a 60's car in garage, all I need is a flux capacitor??? like back to future, and I'm off back to 1960 watch the 60's develop, room for 4 others in car. God wishful thinking eh!

  • i do count me in i hate thids world

  • Ooh I remember "Granny takes a Trip" and "I Was Lord Kitchener's Valet". Same time as Freddie Mercury was running a trendy stall in Kensington (indoor) Market! those were the days!

  • Im from the 60s and 70s so make room for me on your timemachine take me back to 1965 please and make sure you leave me there!!

  • Great reference to the resurgence of fashion through thrift shopping! to think in the sixties you could find things from the twenties. Now I'm lucky to find intact fashionable things from the eighties. Is it me or is the quality of clothing just shot to hell? What happened to quality fabrics and sewing? Oh yeah nafta!

  • i'm one of "those that still thrill to the sight of purple lace up boots"

  • i love the girls of this decade

  • I really wish I could have live in the 60/70s... Back then people wern't as judgeing, everyone was more free. But it seems now we have a strict code to follow in our lives and we have to be molded into good little boys and girls and listen to society.

  • "They say London swings. It doesn't. Not even the King's Road Chelsea. But here and there among the conformist fat cat crowds, is a lean cat or two, looking like it might swing, given some encouragement." Brilliant.

  • Nice looking ladies back then.

  • it's funny when the girl is trying on the flapper girl clothes from the 1920's and the commentator says "this ladies time machine is heading for the flapper world of the 20's, a trip many a time traveller would love to take". Im so convinced i was born in the wrong decade but i guess we'd all love to go back....

  • amazing.

    best wishes from argentina

  • The commentator is funny. Good old fashioned British wit and satire. Great vid.

I wish people dressed with a little more class when they walked down the street. Like here.

  • @Beatleschick1 But to the general population at the time, these people were definitely not dressed with class! Time is relevant to its own time.

  • super inspiratio from mode for 2010 years. Super shining mode. I like 60 years. Go to mode stars. will go it.....

    Yvonne from Czech republic.

  • The fashions looks so crazy and free for all and they really were but if you think about it, most were doing what others were doing because it was the fashion like people do today. If you go back and look, while the quality was indeed superior to the junky off the rack crap available today, those clothes were still being sold in mass quantities off the rack to a fashion saavy youth. Not entirely counterculture but indeed much more playful and different, not trashy and arrogant.

  • That girl at 1:15 is/was Syd Barrett's girlfriend

  • girls are so pretty in the 60's

  • Im a die hard 60s fan,God bless this era

  • Everything about the 60 and 70 was fantastic. Their fashion and styling was a million times better than what we have today. Back then one could get away with wearing a bowler hat on the street where as now people are immediately branded homosexuals for even the slightest departure from mainstream fashion, which is based on silly diets and crap designer clothing. Todays fashion and styling sucks.

  • @AEF091 Not to mention people are lazy with their styles and couldn't care less about detail. And there are more fat people nowadays when in the 60's there were hardly any fat people. This is because everyone went out during the day and came back in the evenings and watched tv and films. They didn't have all the technology we have now. It was better back then and they relied on themselves.

  • I enjoy this very much!

  • 4:46 love him! <3

  • The 60's fashion revolution changed how everything worked. thank god

  • My kind of babe.. 5:27

  • LOooove the hair and makeup on the 60's babes...!!!

I wish it was still so... : (

  • I wish film was still like this.

  • god i despise baby boomers. since the 60s they have moved on to raising neglected kids, botox, and destroying the country. losers.

  • this is straight out of the movie "Blow Up"

A great movie to see, if you like this youtube, made in london, in 1966

  • That looks like so much fun, shopping in those hip and trendy shops! I wonder if the prices were good. It''s neat to see that a lot of these fashions have come back. It seems like I saw a lot of these type of styles in the 80s. Now, 20 years after that, you see the styles coming back.

  • Guess I'll be jumping into time machine with lady0veg and summarbummar.

  • What's with the very strange narration...weird as.

  • Seeing Hulanicki`s original shop, Biba, in Kensington Church Street, certainly got the memory buds going.

  • when lady0veg is done with that time machine, i am soo hitching a ride

  • BTW, this narrator is groovy as s***.

  • It's hilarious that half the comments here are about decades -- "I love the 60s" What about the 80s?" "The 50s were better". Why be so constrained by some arbitrary numbers? Pop culture and music and all elements of human history are just part of progressions and cycles. We haven't 'lost' 60s fashion; it's just morphed over time into '00s fashion. And some day in the future it will cycle back around in force.

Also, isn't the video here about London and style and 'hip-cats', not decades, anyway?

  • I was there!! I visited Carneby street and the Kings road back in the 60s it was a fanatastic time!!so many lovely girls,so little time so many women lol!!

  • I bet lots of people went out to buy the fashons of the time and like that guy buying a sgt pepper jacket and looked simply ridiculous

  • king's road...what's there now ??

  • Fashionistas are just as stupid today.

Wait, the 60s was a cultural revolution compared to the idiots today!

  • I'm building a time machine. Who wants to join me?

  • @lady0veg I will!!!

  • @lady0veg first we need a time dildo, and then a lawnmower! maybe a deckchair for comfort and 2.21 jigawatts of energy :)

  • @lady0veg me :)

  • @lady0veg count me in!!!!

  • @lady0veg fuck, I wish I could have lived in the sixties.

  • count me in

  • @lady0veg

    Groovy...count me in

  • @lady0veg I`m on board!

  • @lady0veg I'll join!!!

  • @lady0veg igf you build it pleaseee tell me when youree done!

  • @lady0veg

    i do!

  • @lady0veg me me me me me me me

  • There was a Granny Takes A Trip in New York in the 70's. It was a great shop but the people who ran it were assholes.

  • The commentary was a bit sarcastic and cynical - at 2:37 "This Kings Road that London is lumbered with" or at 2:58 "some of the young with little to say yes to". If I saw that advert in a cinema, I'd chuck my Kia-Ora at the screen in disgust!

  • best fashion ever

  • i know good thing i live there

  • dedicated follower of fashion

  • nothing like the early 1700's!

  • you have no idea how much i love this video.

  • The mods are the best by far!

  • Anyone know the name of the song at 2:38?

  • I woul like to live in the 60's.

  • hippies were the best...;)

  • I love the boots at 5:02!!! The 60s were awesome......that's when things changed, thank goodness!!!

  • Wow at the girl changing the record for the shop's music. Just shows how technology has changed.

I hope there'll be a bigger sixties revival some time soon. We can't just keep dredging up the eighties time and time again.

  • @seventhsheaven Here Here!...id like to see some styles from the 20's

  • @seventhsheaven Actually, if you go to stores today you can find a HUGE assortment of paisley styles, and minidresses and stuff... the trick is to eliminate the leggins and add nylons for a more 60's look. The 60's female fashion was so coquettish I think one way or another you can always find a touch of it in every era.

  • I wish they would show more movies from this period it seems really swinging!

  • 1:43...Iggy the eskimo...beautiful syd's beautiful girlfriend..

  • I would say 60's and 80's has the most blossoming originality

  • sixties will be back see Harry Loco's 2012 the song !

  • 2:36 looks like ted bundy?

  • I'd say early '67, by the I Was Lord Kitchener's Valet footage.

    Really fantastic film.

  • I was born in 69, and my mom always dressed like this, still does, as well as I

  • I LOVE the sixties

  • I fucking hate this decade!! I want to live in the 60s and 70s!

  • @mcflurrys46 Okay, but why?

  • @call me i want to live in another world 07772 103 437

  • @simlun485 i couldn't id miss too much music that i love.

  • @simlun485 60s are lovelly, 70s just sucks.

  • Anyone who still writes "wtf" has lost the right to criticize others.

  • I place this video at about 1967?
