dude you need to get a shortshaft....even with a jack plate your sitting way to low...get a shorty and keep the jack plate get one of those add on nose cones for the gear foot with a low water pickup and a chopper prop and run the surface...youll see some real speed outa that thing

Have the same boat. Newer 35 evinrude on it. They sure do sit low in the rear! CERTAINLY ALOT OF FUN!! Warning though!! It will sink like a rock if she gets flooded and your pumps are not in working order. Pulled mine up off the bottom of the lake. UMMM Ya that day was Not fun. Your boat is now a collectors item. Not alot made and they seem to be disappearing.
