  • I met you and Hank at the Tour de Nerdfighting in Phoenix, Az. It was fantastic! Youguys signed my box of nerds!!

  • I want to meet you guys so fracking' bad! <3

  • ... Please meet me...

  • Richard Feynman was a BOSS

  • I'm very shy in real life too, and I have unfortunately geeked out in front of people, followed by many stares.

  • lol i think i'll stick to the hunger games if that's all the same to you ;) xx

  • WHAT.

    YOU WROTE THAT BOOK

    My brains just melted

    what

  • I love how completely crazy he looked when he says,"I'm shy in real life but when I'm in my basement alone, with the video camera on... I sometimes geek out." John, don't scare the new nerdfighters!

  • @imadeautubeaccount I just went back to the middle of the video to watch John's eyebrows. Thank you.

  • I have never met either of you. COME OUT TO THE SF BAY AREA PLEASE!!!!!

  • "This dying is boring."

    BEST LAST WORDS EVER!

  • I meet both you and Hank in Houston about a month ago. I got a high five from Hank and I can't help but feeling like, for that one minute, I was made of nothing but pure awesome.

  • Unfortunately haven't met you askaesfdgjktegrlkwgsfva due primarily to lack of vlogbrothers in England, damnit! I'm afraid I must leave this comment, due to a pressing engagement involving afternoon tea, the queen, and extensive amounts of top hats. I bid you farewell, comment.

  • Apparently I'd been so excited about TFIOS that every time I mentioned it to my mom, I said it really fast and didn't articulate. I finally lent her the book, and when she read the title, she told me that she had thought the book was called "The Falkner Stars." His last words reminded me :)

  • @smurphgirl131 Haha, I have a similar problem. I've been recommending Paper Towns to lots of people and about half of them thought the book was called Paper Towels. Explains why they were a little reluctant ;)

  • I met John, and it was sort of like "....I can't talk." I was too overwhelmed by the awesomeness of the situation to muster up anything else. And then he said "Yeah, I'm really awkward right now too." I don't even remember what I said to Hank.

  • i wish i could meet you john :O too bad you dont come to Canada very often.

  • I was so nervous meet you in real life cause i didn't know what to say i just wanted to shout out OMG ITS JOHN AND HANK and give you hugs but unfortudenly there was a table between us and about 1000 people behind me and i didn't think it would be fair that i would be the only person bold enough to jump over a table to get hugs (and then maybe arrested). I chocked up around hank all i could do was smile and give a thumbs up...i need a redo for that so i can say THANK YOU AND BEST WISHES~~!!!!!!!!

  • I have met you both! It was very cool actually. I met you during the TFiOS tour! The meeting was short, as there were a few hundred people behind me in line. And I would have loved to have the chance to talk to you more. But! In the 30 or so seconds I did get to speak with you, you made an effort to actually speak to me. I really appreciated that. It's always heartbreaking when you get the chance to meet someone, and they don't even look up at you. To answer your question! It was incredible :)

  • John, I'd really like to meet you and Hank. But I'm also a person who prefers to stay in her cave and write stories, and crowds scare me...a lot. So I'll have to wait 'til I can get over this crippling case of social anxiety. The prospect of maybe meeting you guys is great motivation.

  • @MashaSobaka I have social anxiety as well. I find getting to know people in anyway on the internet makes it easier. YOU CAN DO IT

  • I WISH I could meet you two.

  • Puff levels are high.

  • I've never met either of you but I really want to.

    Come to Boston again!

  • Hello John,

I havn't met you or Hank, mostly because I live in England but if it counts, I'd really like to meet you.

    Best Wishes, Collette x

  • I forget who said them but somebody's last words were 'they couldn't shoot an elephant at this dist'

  • @EelsRockMySocks In youtube search for "Vlogbrothers famous last words". When you get to the video go to 1:34. There is your answer.

  • @rx8on19ss Will do.

  • i wish i could meet you guys. you are as awesome as Justin bieber is stupid, and then some.

  • I have my nails painted like Alaska

  • I just want to say that I checked out "Looking for Alaska" from my local library today (which is an awesome book!) and I just so happened to notice that, scrawled onto the very first blank page in pencil, was 'DFTBA'. Gotta love that, eh? c:

  • @Trisscarro Tbh I haven't been on YT for a while so I'm just finding out I have a top comment, I'm having a good day so far, and you used the right "you're"... so yeah I'm pretty happy :)

  • The last words I heard my father say before he died were, "I gotta take a pee." Really - this is true!

  • I met yall both at the Tour de Nerdfighting 2012 stop in Houston, TX. Um, I loved it because John was genuinely excited about meeting me and my friend (who happened to be wearing Swoodilypoopers shirts) which was great. It was so exciting to see John getting excited over something I made when I get so excited over things he (and Hank) makes! I said hi to Hank, but he was really busy so we didn't talk and I met The Katherine and she was super awesome. I WANT TO MEET YALL AGAIN!! :)

  • @mthsbandrocks Oh my god- HOUSTON NERDFIGHTERS FOR THE WIN! I was there, too! Wasn't it amazing!

  • I need this book

  • Dieing would be the last thing I'd do. In every circumstance. Really.

  • That book was possibly the best birthday present I have ever received.

  • never met you guy wishhhh i could though you discribed my life at the begining of this video >.< sooo happy im not alone lol

  • I have never met you before, but, I would really like to! NERDFIGHTER FOR LIFE!!!!

  • 0:27 Coy John! Sigh...

  • When I met you,(TFIOS Tour in Portland OR) it was all too fast. I don't know what I was expecting, but my fangirl feels were loulder then my Nerd Brain, You were nice, but again, as with any book signing it was all too fast. I hope you like the Voodoo I brought you. :)

  • I have now seen you in person!! I know you probably don't read these old comments, but I felt the need to answer your question. It was humbling to be so authentically thanked by both of you. Here I was all ready to thank you two for all that you do for increasing awesome and decreasing suck, and for making me think, and for entertaining me while I was going through chemo... and you thanked me. And meant it. You two are truly awesome and I wish I could get to know you both better. DFTBA

  • My favorite last words are by Pancho Villa: "Don't let it end like this, tell them I said something..."

  • John's eyebrows are extremely sexually frustrating.

  • @imadeautubeaccount best comment I've ever read on a vlogbrothers video.

  • @imadeautubeaccount thanks, now I will forever notice them.

  • @mlcandylover23 you're welcome! xD

  • You and Hank were more genuine than I could have imagined. I only wish I had time for discussion and pictures.

  • Archimedes joke?

  • it is always so very good to have something new to geek out over :).

  • Nice Columbia tee shirt!!! :D

  • Oscar Wilde's last words. I love them.

  • You should make another video about your favourite last words of notable people!

  • John, you were very friendly last night in Santa Monica, under difficult circumstances of limited time, and exhaustion. In a normal situation, I expect you are no less warm. My advice: treat the person as though you're already friends, and both of you will feel at ease. DFTBA.

  • i just met John last night. Hank was kind of awkward, but John was ever so nice. Though Id really like to meet him again because I was nervous and there were so many people that i didnt get to say much, and i forgot to shake his hand. on the brightside, thanked him sincerely for his writing. i hope he took it very sincerely.

  • One thing that im DETERMINED TO DO is meet either one (preferrably both) VLOGbrothers, no matter how creepy i have to be about it...

  • John, I dont think this really qualifies as meeting you but I bagged your groceries in Kroger like 5 months ago... You seemed cool...

  • @cissaillumanati HOLY MAN THAT WOULD BE TERRIFIC.

  • John, don't mean to trouble you at night with the fact that anything remembered, whether it was written or mentally, could be wrong, but I believe that it might be "Meer Licht!".

  • Just clicked on the link to find out how much this book costs, and Amazon wants me to buy this along with The Fault in Our Stars. WTG, Amazon!!

  • i forget who but the last words of some actor were "Don't worry, it's not loaded"

  • @remmyist This was Terry Kath, original guitarist of the rock band Chicago.

  • i met you in real life and it was amazing! but also kind of weird because it was just us...

  • the puff is on steroids...

  • Weren't Archimedes' last words "Don't disturb my circles?"

  • I did meet you, you two were so epic.

  • Actually, I did know those were the last words of Archimedes. Studying the origins of Pi leads you to several routes of awesome.

  • Stop it with all of those jump cuts and the yelling. Stop it.

  • My favorite last words were from Che Guevara.

  • Having met John in real life, I can honestly say that I find him to be far too high resolution..

  • I just finished watching the chapter two reading of TFIOS in wich the Yeti made an appearance. In this video ( of wich I have never seen) he gives the meraculus account of Sahra. Yesy fellow youtubers and nerd fighters the name hath been revealed. "So we carry on the path of knowing and not." Vince Tortora. Yes I quoted myself. DFTBA

  • One of my favorite ones when people get in debates about evolution versus creationism is Darwin on his death bed who said " It was just a theory.- even he did not think he is work replaced it in the end.

  • @carphi100 I think the reports you mention of Darwin's last words were published in the book The Lady Hope Story. This story was universally denied by Darwin's friends and family. When I just tried to find his last words in Google apparently his last words were about how he isn't afraid and most of all how he loved his wife and kids. The death bed repentance is just a myth that persisted like the Einstein being a theist.

  • Have not seen famous people die but,I saw my grandfather die before my eyes, in fact I was there when both did, one I think death came as surprise to even him as he said nothing when he passed, he just laid down on the couch to watch a Jazz game, fell asleep, and that was that. No one though he would go. My other grandpa was in the hospital and he was between this world and the next- told me he could see Abraham Lincoln, he wasn't delirious- he could see him and shortly went where Abe is..

  • Never met either of you......yet.0.o

  • I've never met you.... :( but SOMEDAY MY GOOD SIR... SOMEDAY.... See that problem i have is that i'm a closet nerd. I don't talk about the things i like around people i don't know very well because i'm pretty sure i would bore them to death. I'm a preppy boy who played sports in high school, but i hung out with nerdy kids, because they are more fun to talk to :D ... in fact i would fight someone if they made fun of my nerdy friends.... hmm.... interesting ANYWAY SEE YA

  • Not to be dark, but I hope when John Green dies his last words will be added to this book, I bet he would be happy about that

  • I got this book for Christmas!

  • John, Goethes last words where, in fact not "mehr licht"(as he would have said it), but "Open the second shutter so that more light may come in" and even in german sentense structure, that doesn't make his last two words "more light", but also "come in". Sorry.

  • AHHHHHH YOU WENT TO KENYON, TOO!?!?!? yes i can definitely see it :) go kenyonites.

  • I need that book. I really really need that book. And I almost got it too, except then my mom saw the price... and... uhm... well, lets just say I don't have the book.

  • @ggennav the autor was selling it for only 10 $ only two weeks ago and i so wanted to buy it but i waited to long and missed it. i was so gutted. now im saving up^^

  • @sallyrhiannon That's a fantastic idea(: Now I just have to figured out how I'm going to save up when I have to income to save in the first place... ah well, I can also bug my mum. (: lol

  • i think you should do some videos every now and again just reciting some famous last words. you can go alphebatically if you want.

  • Comment removed

  • I got this book for like $10 and it is SO FRACKIN AWESOME YOU GUYS.

  • Albert Einstein's last words died with him, his nurse didn't speak German.

  • Just got this book in the mail yesterday. So freaking awesome.

  • i WISH i met you in real life. Come live in Massachusetts.

  • I. WANT. BOOK.

  • John I have not met you or Hank sadly. Although that could be because I only recently started watching your videos, and I dont think you have ever been to Ireland. You should come, we'd like you over here.

  • My favorite last words of all time?

Isadora Duncan-- "Farewell, my friends, I go on to glory."

  • don't worry, I'm poorly editted in real life too.

  • John, I met you in person at the 2011 Beckoning of Lovely. You were hilarious and completely willing to draw a stick figure on my pillow case, which I geeked out about to all my friends later. But what impressed me most was your complete determination to keep the focus on the purpose of the gathering, despite the many nerdfighters who were just excited to be in your presence. You're just a really good person. :)

  • hmm........ if you ever came to Canada (and I mean Ontario) perhaps I could have met you *sob*

  • This has nothing to do with the video, but I'd just like to point out that I LOVE how Nerdfighter's YT comments are usually longer than usual and for the most part, grammatically correct. It makes me so happy :3

  • @TammiBloo ur a fag.

I bet you're not happy any more are you.

  • @Trisscarro #ican'twriteenglish

  • John Green's badass face at 1:42.

  • I JUST ORDERED THE HUNGER GAMES TRILOGY! I am excite. P.S I spit on the screen of my desktop monitor when you said Marshall Field II 's last words. Thanks, John Green. 1 for making me clean my computer screen. 2. for making me feel a certain dissonance at laughing at a dying man. I am dissapoint. Alright, I'm not dissapoint. I am however going home. DFTBA <3

  • @lyricalpraise In my opinion, the last two are the best :D They're really great books, hope you have a lot of fun reading them! And the movie comes out on March 23, 2012 :)

  • John I met you in Asheville on my Mom's birthday (thanks mom) and it was frikkin awesome.

  • John, i met you IRl 3 times in teh Netherlands. All were amazing. Even without preparing (surprise party!) or editing, you are an interesting, kind and just generally awesome person. Besides, even if you had turned out to be boring IRL, they day would still have been saved by the united awesome-ness of all teh other nerdfighters. DFTBA

  • I wish I had known about these guys in 2010. This would have been the best birthday present ever. This video is amazing.

  • everytime i come across a vlogbrothers video that mentions the hunger games i freak out. HUNGER GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • THIS BOOK IS $10. BUY IT NAOOWWW!

  • i want my last words to be: 'tell John Green my last words' :)

  • @steampunkfangirl I want that or, "The million dollars is hidden under the..." LOL

  • John and Hank did a concert/book signing about three years ago in the town over. Hank asked what my name was when he signed my CD and I said "Julianna" and he said it was a nice name.

That's usually the story I tell to impress my nerdfighter friends; works every time

  • On Amazon the bundle option (commonly bought together) is this book, An Abundance of Katherines and TFiOS. Nerdfighter power!

  • I JUST ORDERED THIS BOOOK! i have wanted thos for a long time and just got around to ordering it...

  • haven't met y'all yet but TOUR DE NERDFIGHTING IS ABOUT TO CHANGE THAT! Can't wait till you're here in New Orleans~

  • I am less than pleased with John's gallbladder, as it stole him from me at LeakyCon 2011 and I only got to see him briefly (and creepily) in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

  • Last Words of Notable People. Must clear out inventory— So, nerdfighters, I am offering the book for $ 9.50 (while they last) -- that's 90% off --orig list! (so its below my cost) Must purchase thru Amazon —Only $9.50 (via new/used copies link on Amazon) If you want an inscribed/signed copy, let me know in a note via Amazon. Please help spread the word. Thanks. - William B. Brahms

  • @gmbrdp I got my copy!! I love it more than words can say

  • @gmbrdp Thanks to everyone who ordered a copy. I had about 1000 excess copies to sell off and figured would end 12/31 or when 1000 copies were sold (I really did not think 1000 copies could be sold -- but nerdfighters blew that away--and they went quick -- in a matter of days). Thanks -- you are all awesome.

  • @LastWordsGuy and @gmbrdp are both from Reference Desk Pres/me personally -- if you were wondering. Thanks Bill

  • Sadly I've never met either of them......you should come down to Palm Beach, Florida. Remember, our winter is your spring!!!

  • YES! I met Hank last summer in front of the missoula library at his/harry and the potters' concert and it was amazingly wonderful because i 1. got to hear epic music and 2. because i got pictures with hank and a whole hilarious conversation with him and some fantastic nerdfighters from calgary that came. (so yes, i would most certainly do it again.)

  • Answer to John's question: I WISH!

  • I had just bought a book that had a bunch of last words a little bit before seeing this! Perfect timing!

I've never met you but I just found out from my nerdfighter friend that apparently you had come to Brilliance Audio in our town multiple times.

  • JOHN GREEN COME TALK AT MY SCHOOL. YOU WILL CHANGE LIVES.

  • It's so sad that John is always worried about disappointing the people he meets IRL. He doesn't realize that just being there is more than enough. I met him last month in Asheville and it couldn't have possibly been more perfect. He was just sitting in a little classroom answering people's questions and then we went up and got him to sign our books. He didn't have to be interesting or well edited for it to have been the best day of my life.

  • I wish I could meet John and Hank. Come to Canada, please!

  • @Piiiglett Yeh! I want him to come to Canada.... Cause i live here :P

  • Antzy pants update dance happends with books. To adults. And to people who are not Richie Miller that makes no sense, and probably people who are.

  • Oh...I came here to comment Steve Jobs's last words...But someone already did

  • Uber-nerd Steve Job's Last words were just released by his sister. "Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow." A few people inquired. --Oh and if you want the book Last Words of Notable People -- At nerdfighter's request -- it is on Amazon at a big discount -- just go to 'new and used' section and you can get it from publisher (me) deeply discounted. Thanks. to everyone who bought the book. And I still have not met John nor Hank but it is on my bucket list.

  • JEALOUS

  • No... Come see me in my little town in Minnesota!! Well its not that little... It is the third largest in the state... But nevertheless come see me!!

  • how can that book keep you on the edge of your seat? you know that they all die in the end.

  • I feel the need to post this:

"Go on, get out! Last words are for fools who haven't said enough."

    Karl Marx.

    Just saying.

  • @CatMongke Entertaining, but "doubtful" Legend says it was spoken to his housekeeper -- but no source validates this. Actual Last Words: Unknown. Marx was recuperating, his quiet but sudden death sitting in an armchair caught his family by surprise. Marx was told he was getting better. His housekeeper (Demuth) and daughter were home when he died. It is highly unlikely either would encourage Marx to dictate his Last Words when they had no idea he was about to die. (Last Words of Notable People)

  • How expensive is that book?! Man, I want it though... When I Googled it I found a similarly titled book by Jonathan Green! Is that a particularly uninventive pseudonym, John?!

  • No one knows what the last words of Albert Einstein are. The nurse who was in the room with him at the time didn't speak German.

  • I have that book. DEAR GOD IT IS AMAZING.

  • OMG you need to send me that book!!! =•D I will love you forever vlogbrothers and get a tattoo of the skull and nerdbones with dftba under (when I turn 16) if you do!!!!!

  • I was in the library group at my school and we went to our yearly excursion to the state library to see authors talk, in Melbourne, Australia. And you were there and I thought you were pretty cool at the time. People acted out the first chapter of 'Paper Towns' and you said it was exciting I think. I can't believe I was in the same room as you and I didn't even get anything signed! I recently read 'Looking for Alaska' and I cried for thirty minutes afterwards. You made my crappy day better.

  • I met you, John, when you came to Bellingham Washington to speak at a Young Adult Lit Conference at Western Washington University. I was 22 (or almost 22), and engaged to be married that October (6 days before the post date of this video, actually :), and you told me I was too young to get married :D Even though you were razzing me, it was the coolest 20 minutes of my life. (Until I got married. That was pretty cool too.)

  • You know that video that Hank put up when he was messing around in DIA because he was really bored? Well, that day was when I had to go to the airport to pick up my friend Sarah from her flight, and all I could think was "What's wrong with this guy?" ... I sadly did not know he was Hank Green.

  • 2:10 Damn John what happened to make your poof THAT big?

  • A giant dictionary has a geek freaking out and fangirling? ... I'm not surprised.

  • from 0:19 to 0:26, if you replace the title 'last words of famous people' with 'The Fault in Our Stars', then that will undoubtedly be my reaction when I recieve TFiOS.

  • I met you both at LeakyCon and was unfortunately rushed past you at the very end of the first day (and then you were gone shortly after)! You were both fairly kind to me although probably very annoyed and definitely busy. I gave you dictionaries. Also cross-stitches. I was more worried about you finding ME weird than finding you weird. Hopefully I will get a chance to make a better impression in future.

  • I

    IIII3

    thumbs up

  • I feel as though by now I should have run into John, because I've spent the last year in Indiana near Indianapolis, then when I was in NY John was in NY, and even in London I pick up a book and there's his name and a review in the upper corner. It's as if the universe is saying go forth and stalk youtubers.....

  • I, too, have never met you guys but have had a dream. I went into a restaurant and saw you both there, and in my excitement, I ran up to you, John, and called you Hank. I'm as incredibly sorry now as I was in my dream. Both of you were properly estranged by my "fangirlyness" but also very nice.

  • @GaaraPunkMuffin I think I speak for many of the nearly 200,000 viewers when I say, so did we.

  • Rap?

  • As soon as I read the title I knew it was gonna mention Looking For Alaska :) Which I recently finished and adore :) But nope I have never met you guys <3

  • Would you guys ever come to canada?

  • I spoke to John over the phone (I was in Japan at the time and made of Awesome sister went in to have my copy of Paper Towns signed) and John spoke so fast I was a little in awe and couldn't speak. Then I went to Disneyland! I thought it was awesome! It was pretty much my best day ever.

  • "This electric fire should make my bath water warmer..."

    *sniff* such moving last words.

  • Doc Holliday's last words were "This is funny"; having always thought he would die in either a gunfight or at least with his boots on, he said this while dying of tuberculosis in a hotel room and looking down to see someone had taken his boots off.

  • I have tripped and fallen head first into geek heaven! I am currently enjoying a marathon event, watching your videos until my eyes bleed or my alarm goes off signaling time for work... =( I do love the videos. <3 From a geek in Tx

  • i want that book!

  • COLUMBIA! <3

  • I have no idea what my last words would be, but I know my first word was Grey.

  • @KatComixProductions That is an amazing first word. If I were to change my last name, I would it to Holmes, Adler, Rose, or Grey. :)

  • @CAN1TUDE but not "GreyRose AlderHolmes" because that rhymes. And thus, would be silly.
