I've had my adult Shiba for a year and she's only made a noise three times when she was awake (once a howl, once a growl and once a bark), but I've often heard her talk in her sleep. I wonder why she "woofs" in her sleep, but not when she's awake.

It depends really. If you plan on getting a pedigree from a breeder then they can be quite pricy. Seach on the internet for Shiba puppies in your area and see how much they are going for. I don't have a Shiba But I'm looking into getting one ^^.
