I've had seeds floating around before. I like to use the spray bottles for the small stuff. I also try to prewet soils that have been sitting around awhile before using.
I bought alot of seeds from veseys,... Ive started to notice that they are expensive by comparison to some other seed companys though. Ive started to buy from McFayden Seeds most recently, the types of seed are more limited, but thaty are alot cheaper!
@GardenNewbie I have found that it all depends on what type, and the quantities of seeds. Most Heirloom seeds are cheaper, and the latest hybrids are most expensive. I am have been comparing Vesey's and a few other seed companies up here in Canada and I feel they are pretty competitive with the others.
@TheOntarioGardener Yes overall thats true, im also in canada... Ive also been checking out halifax seed company. But like you said heirlooms and organics and things are ussually the only ones that make much difference.
@mhpgardener A little bit of both ;) I haven't started tomatoes inside before and I figure doing a bit now and seeing how it turns out will make it easier in the spring. If they do seem to grow really well, I may just try and keep them around. But, I don't really have the space for it, but we shall see!
Oh you are making me want to get my hands dirty and start some seedlings! I ended up buying onion seed so come january I will be able to start some seeds!!
Looks like you are mixing the seeds up in the tray. How will you know what germinated and what didn't. just wondering.

@NewEnglandgardening Good points. I bottom water when I need to water everything, and spot water when I need to. So far so good with the seedlings.

So this is just a trial run, right? To see the germ rates and get used to the setup? Or are you gonna try to grow these indoors?
