I was only 3 when this happened, and my brother, who was 5, had turned on the TV, yet the first thing we saw was this. We had no idea what was happening.
I can't imagine what it would've been like being old enough to understand what had been happening at that very moment.
My heart goes out to all those effected by this tragedy, and may all those who died and gave their lives for others rest in peace <3
When this day happened, I was in third grade...and I said my most regretted comments ever, not knowing what was going on, we were watching this on live tv and I said "Lets go toast marshmellows" and my teacher looked at me in awe..I got home and learned of the deaths but still couldnt wrap my head around it...now ten years later I cry and think "My god, how could this tragedy happen?".... RIP to the almost 3000 that died that day.

I was in preschool at the time...I vaguely remember my teacher leaving with just the aide watching us and coming back and acting very strange (to a preschooler, I know now she was trying to act normal when she was scared out of her mind)
my best friends dad bought 2 subway tokens that morning. he was in the wtc north towers lobby doing his work while eating krispy kreme with coffee. he left the tower using one of the subway tokens 10 minutes before the first plane hit.
he never got to use the second one. the subways closed down when the towers were hit, so a bit over a week after the tradgedy, he wrote a 2 page letter telling her about it, and the subway token's symbolic value. he never got to spend it, so he gave her the toke
Everyone remebers where they were when it happened, I was at work (in Newcastle Upon Tyne England), thought the world was ending! I was still in middle school when this happend, all I remember there was some sort of announcement over the P.A that I didn't understand, but my aunt explained it to me, and we were really happy my aunt was alright, she was in the military in the pentagon, but she wasn't in it when it happend....R.I.P to everyone who wasn't so lucky....

My mom's friend had to pick me up from school since my mom was too distraught over the safety of my dad and brother. They worked at the NYSE just two blocks away from the World Trade Center. Luckily, they were safe, physically, but even to this day, they are still emotionally damaged. I think a piece of all of us died that September morning, but we will never forget the lives that were lost.

Never has there been a day that scared the hell out of me as much as this one. I was getting ready to leave for college when it happened. I saw the beginning of it, but had to cut it short. Once in class, school staff relayed the information around campus, which was how I eventually learned that the second building had been hit and then the Pentagon. For the feelings that overtook us all afterward, all I could think was that this must have been what Pearl Harbor felt like back then.

I was real little when this happened but I remember VIVIDLY, I was 8, just moved to a new town and school, and my mom woke me up friggin' early to show me what was happening. It was right before the second plane hit, I remember sitting on the couch and thinking "Hmm, that can't be an accident.... How do you accidentaly hit a huge tower?" And then the second plane went in right as my grandma walked in and she was like "WHAT. WHAT?"

I remember clearly what I was doing the day this happened. I had gotten up very early to get ready for school, and was watching the news, which was unusual for me. I actually wasn't sure which news channel I had been watching, though I usually watched NBC back then. But I've realized that I can remember the man talking about small airplanes right before the second jet hit, so it must have been ABC, this one. It really helped me sort out my memories to watch this again.
I can't really remember unless they were doing a lot behind the scenes, but when we got back to Tampa it took over three hours to get out because they had to carefully check our bags.
We didn't know until we got back to the cabin and turned on the news. I thought it was a freak accident at first, but when they started talking about the second plane I knew we were being attacked. But something funny happened when we were at the ruins, a guy got word that there was an emergency at home but we didn't think anything of it.
I will never forget where I was that day. Walking into morning classes of my senior year and I was late , No one had seen anything because everyone gets there at 7:50 I walked in at 9:00 and I got in an argument with my teacher cuz he didnt believe me so he finally turned on the tv and it was about 15 seconds before the second plane hit, He apologized for doubting me and we just watched in horror until about noon then everyone got sent home. A lot of people died that day who shouldnt have , rip

Never has there been a day that scared the hell out of me as much as this one. I was getting ready to leave for college when it happened. I saw the beginning of it, but had to cut it short. Once in class, school staff relayed the information around campus, which was how I eventually learned that the second building had been hit and then the Pentagon. For the feelings that overtook us all afterward, all I could think was that this must have been what Pearl Harbor felt like back then.

I was real little when this happened but I remember VIVIDLY, I was 8, just moved to a new town and school, and my mom woke me up friggin' early to show me what was happening. It was right before the second plane hit, I remember sitting on the couch and thinking "Hmm, that can't be an accident.... How do you accidentaly hit a huge tower?" And then the second plane went in right as my grandma walked in and she was like "WHAT. WHAT?"

I was in high school when this happen and I remember when I was watching this with my class and our history teacher was like Some terrorist group is going to take responsible for this and be happy with that they did. At that time I didn't even know what a terrorist was. Also I live in new york state about 2 hrs north of nyc so my hs pretty much shut down . We were all glued to the tvs for the day. I really can't believe it's almost 10 years ago. It still feels like it happen yesterday.

Footage like this is, to me, is pretty hair-raising, because you know it's coming. The second plane is on it's way. And all of the networks caught it on live television. I can't watch it, it makes me sick to my stomach. Hopefully all those who perished in the attacks will somehow rest in peace.

I remember clearly what I was doing the day this happened. I had gotten up very early to get ready for school, and was watching the news, which was unusual for me. I actually wasn't sure which news channel I had been watching, though I usually watched NBC back then. But I've realized that I can remember the man talking about small airplanes right before the second jet hit, so it must have been ABC, this one. It really helped me sort out my memories to watch this again.

We didn't know until we got back to the cabin and turned on the news. I thought it was a freak accident at first, but when they started talking about the second plane I knew we were being attacked. But something funny happened when we were at the ruins, a guy got word that there was an emergency at home but we didn't think anything of it.

I will never forget where I was that day. Walking into morning classes of my senior year and I was late , No one had seen anything because everyone gets there at 7:50 I walked in at 9:00 and I got in an argument with my teacher cuz he didnt believe me so he finally turned on the tv and it was about 15 seconds before the second plane hit, He apologized for doubting me and we just watched in horror until about noon then everyone got sent home. A lot of people died that day who shouldnt have , rip

I remember I was in school on that morning. They had a moment of silence over the intercom. For the next few weeks I thought My house was going to be attacked. God bless everybody who died in these attacks, and God bless their families as well.

Actually, McVeigh was executed on June 11, 2001, three months before 9/11. I live in the DC Metro Area and it was very scary. Saddest day I ever lived through. I'm guessing from your screen name that you're from the DC Metro Area or Western Maryland as well. I'm sure it was a horrific day for you as well. Nine years later, my heart still goes out to those who lost and were lost that day.
