  • great audio on this thanks

  • Surely he is on the top of the gotha.

  • Fucking crazy good Jaco!

  • nico assumpçao the best

  • Ricksuchow, thanks, a lot of thanks.

  • Its very funny when a guy starts to sing the bass voice lol

  • @Bocatoofficial That guy happens to be Jaco himself aaha

  • @alexjrmarino lol

i know ,i was just kidding.

  • I don't believe such beautiful sounds have ever emanated from this instrument before or since.

  • Man to bad he had so many issues

  • No dislikes. That's how it should be lol

  • I saw him live in '81 and '84, amazing shows. This has to be the best live Jaco recording I've ever seen. Continuum is without a doubt the best bass song ever conceived. Just a beautiful song, and so nice that it comes from one bass.

  • From all the Bass solos of Jaco that i ever heard on YuTube, i say that THIS one have something more than special....Thanks Jaco!!!

  • woah! this gives me chills...

  • @Countavery..Thank U!! @panhead1219?? u shuld B smacked 4 ur ignorance!! 1st u say he played sorta well, then u say he's a very good player?? Dude, just say u don't like him, & sthu!! Cause bottom line is, what u think about him personally don't change the fact that Jaco is 1 of the most influential cats 2 play that instrument, period!! & since a bouncer decided 2 beat him 2 death, we'll never know if he could've kicked the drugs, will we!! Have ur opinion, but don't disrespect, u Jerk!!!!!!

  • @jasont0815 he made a mistake. do NOT blame that bouncer, because he did NOT mean to kill him. I loved jaco, I LOVE jaco, but it was his fault as well.

  • To the haters i.e panhead1219, just because your not intelligent enough to understand Jaco's playing doesn't give you the right to speak bad about him.! Jaco was and will always continue to be a legend in the bass playing world! Just ask the bass players you look up too!

  • I love Jaco. He was such a wanker. When you're that good you can get away with being one.

  • I love Jaco but this goes on a bit...

  • @Carehuea well if you got the time to spend...why not with this?

  • 4:30; that guy in the striped sweater, the luckiest man on Earth. :)

  • 4:30; that guy in the striped sweater, the luckiest man on Earth. :)

NO WAY. I just can't believe this video has just that number of views...

  • @joaoaldo13 uahaua, te amo gatão

  • @joaoaldo13 lindo

  • the chord diddy @ 4:15........new one. you are it JACO

  • John Francis Anthony Pastorius III: The mad bassist.

  • caraka

    ele é melhor do mundo!

  • this has definitely gotta be one of my all time favorite versions of continuum!

and "lummond @massimoselvi"...i seriously thought it was a ridiculously long cord for this one too haha!

  • someone mind telling me what song he was playing at the very end. the instrumental

  • @jryuwah

    It's Alan Hovhaness' Mysterious Mountain

  • I don't believe in God, but Jaco was an angel sent from above to inspire musicians. Thanks for the clip. Made my day!

  • wireless systems in those days sucked unless it was top of the line. I dont hear any dropouts, interference, or CB radios. must have been top of the line

  • that was amazing. thank you so much for posting. i've never seen this clip before a 9 minute plus version of continuum! just wow.

  • God is God!

  • @saverdelux and jaco is just a putz that killed himself.

Sure, he played bass sorta swell, but so what?

  • @panhead1219

wondering what kind of music you listen to...maybe you don't figure out what that guy brang...

  • @panhead1219 He had multiple mental diseases and was beaten to death, a normal bouncer beats people to DEATH when they do something wrong? He had something coming but not death.

  • @nezinot123 so what? he fucked up and died.

Like I said, he was a very good player, but NOBODY gave a shit about him personaly, so he died while digging his own grave with drugs.

Same thing with Entwistle. great player.. fucked himself.. nobody near him cared

Lots of GREAT bass players now, that do NOT follow their examples!

And as far as what I listen to? Zappa. the Steves!.... Morse, Vai, Marriot, Miller, little, winwood ... and grand funk railroad.

  • @panhead1219

nope, his entire family was so sad about him dying that they actually went out and recovered his most precious instrument (bass of doom) and pretty much keep it as a remembrance of him.

    you're a fucking idiot.

  • @panhead1219

..sort of well? you can't name one bass player better than him. the only people even remotely close to him are John Myung and Victor Wooten..

  • @panhead1219

Hey man what do you mean?

  • @panhead1219 "sorta swell"?..."So what?"?......The guy already changed history....You, on the other hand, will only slip into oblivion. No matter what kind of serious shit you listen to....congrats on your new career as a mediocre music critic for porn movie tracks......I don't even know why I wrote this...I'm wasting my alphabets on you...Yuck !!

  • @alabmab? I'd rather be a live porn music critic, then a dead drugged out mental patient that didn't have friends to intervene and help him.

  • @panhead1219 Just figured out the "sorta well" bit doesn't make any sense....Nobody would ever say that about a guy who practically redefined electric bass playing....lol...keep on trolling bro, you're doing good.....I'm sleepy.

  • @alabmab? Well, you are from Indonesia, so you don't really matter.

     And you've sleepy since birth.

  • @panhead1219 Almost had me there bro....Cheers !!

  • @panhead1219 You're quite incredibly ignorant. Have you heard Havona?!?!?! It is not 'sorta swell', it is a MASTERPIECE!!!!!

  • It's a solo gig at the Berliner Jazztage '79.

...but there is a relation with Joni because Jaco borrowed the wireless system for the bass from her :-)

  • @massimoselvi He used a wireless system for this? I thought it was a really, really, really, really, really, really, really, REALLY long cord.

    :P

  • @lummond yes, it's a really long cord progression...

  • Oh man... the reaction of some of the crowd is priceless....

  • Thank you, this is amazing. Par of this clip used to be on youtube ages ago.

Who was he playing with? Joni?
