  • great video about the sabbats geat music

  • @kingfisher559 this is so true. I love the music to this and the way you've made everything blend together is fabulous! The bit at the end got me kind of emotional; 'Wheels turn, and the seasons turn, and Earth turns. The Universe turns, and Nature turns, and we all turn with Her.' So beautiful! Blessed Be!

  • i have a question,

if you are not Wiccan can you still celebrate Sabbats?

  • @BabyGirlGoddess Yes, of course :) The holidays just celebrate the cycle of the year, no matter what theological beliefs you hold.

  • So wonderful. This has been a great way to share my believes with family and friends who have questions.

  • I'm not a true pagan, yet. :) I guess I am eklectic. I believe all faiths have a piece of the puzzle. If Christians knew how beautiful pagan celebrations and rituals are, they would not judge them. They would practice the love Jesus taught! There is so much borrowed from paganism, Christians are almost eklectic! :) Great video

  • I'd like to know the lyrics of the songs or the singers...really great video =)

  • "Pagan Sabbots" I think you will find that pagans have festivals, Wiccans have Sabbats.

  • Semantics... the trick of the monotheists..

  • polytheist, actually. and i dont appreciate all pagans being lumped together as wiccans.

  • Oh I am definitely NOT doing that.

There are very clear differences that I obviously don't need to elaborate on.

I am simply saying that the term sabbat and the term festival can be used to refer to the same event.

Making a distinction that one is ONLY for wicans and one is ONLY for neo-pagans is the semantic trap I mentioned.

I do not mean to imply that all pagan faiths are the same.. that would be just plain silly.

The mono-theistic semantic trap is what I mean, not poly-theistic.

  • why would other religions want to call their festivals "sabbats" when they have absolutely nothing to do with the concept of a sabbat?

  • If you really want to split hairs, the word Sabbat is actual Hebrew in origin and came into reference with 'witches' during the early modern witch trials.

But really now, in the context of this conversation we take it to mean the 8 divisions of the Wheel.

We have festivals during these 'sabbats', Personally though I dont use the term sabbat, as I tend to shy away from Judaic terminologies out of personal preference.

  • Yes, the word Sabbat was specifically used for Witches during the 18th century. The 'Wheel of the Year' is a Wiccan (and neo-druid) concept. If you go telling other pagans/heathens that their festivals are Sabbats, they will be very offended.

  • beautiful!

  • can someone tell me the diffrence between a major sabbat and a minor sabbat? i'm sorry, im a young witch.

  • Sabbat's are the Full and New Moon Ritual,

Festivals are the 8 major holidays. Imbolc, Ostara, Beltane, Litha, Lughnasdh, Mabon, Samhain and Yule. There is a ton of info on the net these days

  • @anitac1952

As a wiccan, the sabbats are the 8 festivals in the wheel of the year and the esbats are the new and full moon rituals.

  • Merry Yule!

  • hehe this all taken from ancient Irish celts

  • Celts in General, not just Ireland.

  • hehe actually the 4 sabbats are Gaelic, and originated in Ireland but later spread out to all Celtic countries lol

  • Thanx for posting such an interesting video!!

The song is also awesome! I luv it but I've forgotten its title, I'd be glad if someone could tell us ...

    Imbolc is coming ...

    BLESSED BE!

  • The name of the group is Deep forest its the first disk...as to the song I can remember

  • The first song is "Sweet Lullaby" by Deep Forest (I have the CD, and recommend it highly), the credits say that the second one is entitled "Tribal Mix" by Deep Forest & Enigma. I'm thinking that "Tribal Mix" may be a different version of the same song ("Sweet Lullaby")..??.. Hope that helps. :)
