Great footage, but if I could suggest one piece of advice it would be set your camera on "manual focus". It is impossible to focus on that elk with all of the trees, grass, etc. when you have it on "auto focus".  Other than that, cool hunt! Congrat!

In fact, I took a 5 point bull elk last season with a 50 # longbow. First shot was a pass through, right through the lungs, he gave me a second shot and that was another pass through right through the lungs. He fell over dead within about one minute... they are plenty efficient to hunt elk. and much more rewrding

im new to elk hunting, going on first hunt in a few days. Why all the calls right after the shot? i noticed the film guy at the end had a long bow, have you ever dropped big game with that?

Typically when an animal gets shot with an arrow, their not sure what just happened to them, but they know somethings wrong. By continueing to make calls were hoping it will calm him down a little like nothing happened.

I have shot many whitetail with my longbow and have missed a number of elk. As of 2005 I have switched back to a compound bow because I just don't have the time to practice like I used to.
