I just breathe same as competitive freestyle... neutral head position with 1 goggle still in the water. It works for me. When I take in water, the opening to my throat closes up before the water has a chance to enter my pipes and I just wait until the next breath to take in air. I do the head lift water polo stroke thing to sight. Good lil workout hahaha
i hold my breath during my 2 strokes and begin to exhale when im starting to rotate my head, im seeing that in this vid but i dont know is that girl exhaling on her nose or is that only bubbles made from movement
Well for me it's not a problem to follow this steps, but since I swim in salty water (sea obviously) I still take sometimes a little bit of water in my mouth...
That is very annoying since I can get use to it! Do u have any tips for this maybe ?
I wish I could breathe like she does. When I freestyle swim, I am literally exhausted by the time I am at the other side of the pool even though my arms and legs are doing the same thing as hers are doing. I don't know how to improve.
@blazius77 get some swim lessons to learn more efficient technique, such as TI, then start slow /easy and build up on that. Better to begin with good technique then to break bad habits later.
@ridemeup This should help then. Make sure you're not lifting, or looking forward when you breathe. The second the head comes up, rather than rotates... the legs are going to drop. Keep practicing and best of luck.
I just got into swimming in my relatively old age for a novice and I think long-time swimmers will agree with me when I say swimming is very technical.
i gt 1 ques to ask, when im swmming freestyle & to take a breath, water always goes into my ear & its so irritating & uncomfortable,is it the way of my free style is wrong?
Thanks for the open water series. Probably aimed more at beginners. I have spent some time open water swimming but still have trouble with 2/3 ft waves where these tips aren't as useful - any tips to help?

@Utube0999 no its just your ear. try wearing a swim cap over the ears or just get some ear plugs. Its a sensory issue thats all.

How is regular breathing different than the ones proposed in this video. (Except for lifting the head for sighting and the unbalanced breath)

@padraigryan try the trudgen, use a scissor kick instead of a flutter kick, it helps you cut the waves, just time when you breathe
