  • I love these guys. Definitely my favorite.

  • Carbon Leaf live at the Soiled Dove Underground on 4/15/09 was awesome! Great band at a great venue!. ps: gth mattcaps :)

  • anyone who likes this song is a special type of idiot... "took the bones of me" is the most retarded lyric ever written

  • And I suppose what's in your playlist is the most profound thing ever written?

  • Comment removed

  • I don't see why you feel the need to be such a pessimist. If you like it, great; leave an enouraging comment. If you don't like it, (like yourself) then why not listen to something you do like? Why even bother?

  • i think you're a pessimist for thinking that i have negative intentions. i'm an optimist because i want people to expand their minds and realize how bad these lyrics are.

  • "anyone who likes this song is a special type of idiot... "took the bones of me" is the most retarded lyric ever written"

Because that's not negative at all...

People have different tastes in music. Some like this, Norwegian death metal, country, indie, folk, etc... There's no need to call people who enjoy things that are different than the things you enjoy idiots. It's futile.

  • you're missing the point. it's not about music, it's about LYRICAL CONTENT. i actually don't mind the musical style of this song... but the lyrics wreak of stupidity. i appreciate and accept diversity, but i denounce weakness and false art. if it is futile to assert oneself and ones opinions, then life is pointless.

  • *reek, typo

  • Some can argue that it is. But that's an entire argument in itself. The point is, that a lot of lyrics don't make sense. Some are there purely for the way they sound- not the point they get across. Case in point, Andrew Bird. I'm aware when a lyric isn't amazing and don't need you to inform me. Music doesn't ALWAYS have to make sense. Sometimes it can just sound nice. Know what I mean? I think we can agree on that at the very least. On a lighter note, you're very fun to argue with.

  • just because "some lyrics don't make sense" doesn't mean that these lyrics are not horrible. i agree that if i didn't speak english, this song would be very pleasant to hear.

  • You just failed completely. There is no such thing as false art, in saying that, you just destroyed your entire argument. Any form of self-expression is art, by saying their art is false, you're saying that their expression is false, which isn't possible. You obviously have a very narrow-minded sense of art.

  • by your argument, taking a dump is art.

  • As a reply to your comment about a dump being art, if you would take a moment to look at the Guggenheim Museum gallery in New York City, they have on display a can which reportedly contains a piece of crap, it is registered as modern art by an authority with much more credibility than you. So yes, taking a dump can be a form of art. Thank you and goodbye.

  • first of all, that display is a CAN. the contents are irrelevant. you are really looking at the outer layer of the art... the can itself.

and we are getting away from the point, anyways:

    this song has idiotic lyrics.

  • You just gave my argument new ground. "The contents are irrelevant". In saying this, specific lyrics of the song are irrelevant, because when looking at the sound of the song in general and its overall meaning, regardless of what words are utilized to get that meaning across, this song is great. The song has a very good sound, upbeat but still smooth, and the meaning of the song which is finding a someone who makes his life extraordinary, is a meaningful and relevant topic to anyone.

  • you just gave my argument new ground. the fact that this song is upbeat, smooth, and has a good overall musical composition is actually a testament to how HORRIFIC the lyrics are. i actually love this type of music, but the chorus lyrics in this song are beyond stupid. they are not abstractly good, they are not creatively good... they are plainly dumb.

  • First off, how you see that as a testament to the lyrics being horrific makes no sense. And the chorus lyrics aren't stupid for what they are trying to say. He is making the point that the entrance of the woman into his life "shook his bones". Why you see about that as stupid makes absolutely no sense to me.

  • If you weren't historically ignorant you'd know that forming sentences with the direct object before the pronoun is a common structure in shakespearean english. Not the sentence structure of a retard.

  • Outdated it may be, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it is a language of art. It's built to work with the artist's needs, and that is what it does. It wouldn't have made any sense rhythmically to say "you shook my bones", but it worked perfectly to say "you shook the bones of me". Now if you can come up with another articulate way to say that, that you don't consider to be stupid, I'd love to hear it.

  • of course english can be interpreted, but that doesn't mean that every permutation of words is intelligent. good examples of creative english would be stevie wonder's twisted sentence: "hello children jesus loves you of america", or just the general kookiness of phish's lyrics. but carbon leaf's little bone fetish is absurd... it just sounds dumb. i really don't have much more to say... you think the lyrics are good, and i think they are a puke-inducing example of idiotic songwriting.

  • Haha ok, it's been fun.

  • Gonna have to agree with mattcaps. Good song, awesome chorus, but the cliche lyrics make this song kind of lame to me.

  • I agree with you - the entire song is great...gives me chills when I hear it...
