"well thanks alot! I take care of you and you go and invite your mother!" what is wrong with that guy! Way to pull a guilt trip on a 12 year old! Do u feel better now? Doubt it.
Catherine lied because she felt she had no alternative--her parents literally couldn't speak to each other for even a few minutes without fighting, and she knew that from experience. How could anyone blame her for not wanting her parents to ruin her gymnastics meet like they ruined her birthday party?
The store was real and actually owned by me. I started it in 1979 in partnership with Don Keele - hence the name Don's Disc's II - but went solo in 1981 and changed the name to Blue Note Record Shop. Sadly, the store closed in 1989 but I still run the Toronto Musical Collectables Record & CD Sale - a record show that's put on twice a year in April & October. Don Keele and I are still good friends, he also sells at the show. Google musical collectables.
Uggh..this episode was depressing! Cookie LIED and ruined it all, of course they made the dad who is awesome look like a DICK for a while. THEN I was expecting that as Cookie started her routine we'd see the dad in the audience, but NO. Her mom is just a waste of humanity saying "the band is counting on me" and ditching her own KID who was counting on her? What a cunt! At least when the dad got mad it was because he was hurt over Cookies lie. I will never listen to "Black Velvet" again! LOL!
Christopher Ward one of the first Much music DJ's and who also hosted City Limits is also one of the band memebers in this episode, who would later go onto produce Alannah Miles also
I love the record store Catherine's Dad works at. I wonder if it was a real store and if it is still around. It said Don's Discs. I am gonna Google it.

@FlorrieDugger I read a bio for Chris Ward. He actually had a music career stretching back into the late 70s. Alannah Myles was his girlfriend.

Upon further reading it's spelled Don Keele with an "e" not Keel and he is well known around Toronto and still sells music.

I found this: "FM 108 Remembered - DON KEEL - Another d.j. who appeared briefly. Owner of Don's Discs in Toronto."

is the girl at 3:36 the girl that was on degrassi jr high, playing an anorexic with an alcoholic mother(the one stretching in the maroon sweats)?
twigggie 2 years ago
hmm, I'd better say it's Tessa (Degrassi jr high and Degrassi High) who dated Joey Jeremiah during the degrassi movie.

They should have kept the same names for the sake of continuity.
