  • Just discovered this song, and I love it!

  • it was no 4 an ok sized hit

  • Manfred Mann / Manfred Man's Earth Band are the most underrated band i ask my friend who is into music from the 60's and he doesn't them -__-

  • A great song.

  • must have played this a thousand times.fancying a go on karaoke.

  • Was that girl trying to pants him at the beginning of the song???? brilliant song though

  • @FruitBatties It's really annoying when you are trying to sing a song properly and you have girls annoying you like that ( yes, it is REALLY!). It must be even worse when the cameras are on you. Paul Jones looked quite uncomfortable, didn't he!

  • @newcrossboy SO AGREE

  • Gerroff! Can't you see I'm busy Miming!. And why does the guy on keyboards (MM?) have to move like an orang-utan whilst playing, just to show that he's digging the beat?. The drummer looks so annoyed that PJ is getting all the girls. It's a wonder the producer didn't re-film it with a crowd barrier in front.

  • @Tornfreedom You are obviously unaware that it was all mimed in those days - hardly their fault eh?

  • saw him recently, and hes not changed much, still slim and voice is still good, lucky him

  • @aprilshower446 Saw him at Ronnie Scott's last Sunday and was amazed how strong the voice still is, harmonica playing brilliant as ever, and as you say - still slim and fit at nearly 70! Amazing man! And still cute too....!

  • My very first album - I just adored it!

  • now this is music

  • One of my best remembered Manfred Mann songs.

  • he does look lovely in that video

  • paul surely got laid that night

  • @Blubiblub23 By the Jungle Bunny?

  • what happened to the gorgeous paul jones my first pop idol

  • isnt that illegal what the blk girl is doing lol kiddin it was a JOKE lol

  • The drummer is really enjoying his job.. maybe the should have put the girls on his side, so that Manfred could sing in peace..

  • 1:25 Oh the joys of lip-synching to an audience during a live broadcast.

  • the best song that they ever did,i had the great pleasure of hearing it live in Coventry ill never forget what a wonderful show..

  • Yep, I'm back. I love this song - I love the clip - arh live TV ...... well done Mr Jones.Wonder if "they" have seen this?

  • i love this song love the group.i would have gropped him if i had been there.love him

  • the bassist of this band was great

  • the performance should have ended with guitars swinging Townsend style across those groupies skulls.

  • An absolutely fantastic track by one of the greatest 'brit-pop' voices of the 60's.

Love love love it. Also really rate- If you gotta go, go now.

  • this was deff the best song ever did by the Manfred i heard it live the best smooch dance song ever....

  • lol the ladies wer gropin him

  • I just know I'd be thoroughly disgusted if a bunch of luscious twenty-year-old co-eds couldn't keep their paws off me.

  • Did any of you notice how he took it with good humour?

He was smiling a lot as well.

    A gent

  • He should of punched that annoying groupie in the face!

  • i fucking love him

  • I`ve just found a new favorite group! How many favorites is that now? >.<

  • Contrary to belief, banrneybuffjaws, not all men like being mauled. I am with athena, some men don't like being fondled. Would you like it if someone came to your place of work, and petted, stroked and fondled you? Besides, it's an invasion of one's personal space. But it's a great song, one of their best, and a real tear jerker too.

  • Nice example of Paul Jones fine vocals. The band lost something special when he left.

  • Those girls grabbing and stroking Paul Jones whilst he was performing must have been very annoying when he was trying to concentrate on giving a professional performance - I mean trying to mime whilst being groped is not an easy thing to do LOL! I sing in a 60s band and I don't think any of us would enjoy being fondled and groped during a performance (not that we mime!).

Great song, fab band - great to see this clip on here. Thanks!

  • This should have been a monster hit for the Manfreds in the 60's!

  • im in love with paul jones

  • what a fantastic song, my wife intoduced me to it , her favourite is pretty flamingo. The video clip has great charm , wonder if the girls in the video are still around and watch the video now a days, they must be in their 50`s. The 60`s was truly a fab decade

    MoJogee west yorks uk

  • One of the great unheralded voices of the era. Good on ya, Paul. . .

  • Absolutely love this song but {always a but} the thing to surpass it is Paul Jones composure on live TV as he is molested ........... big grins.

    Thank yo for sharing.

  • One Of My Favorites manfred songs...but my fav is Pretty flamingo

  • the drummer is like "that motherfucker getting all the chics...fuck dis shit"

  • What a beautiful song. How sad that most of us can relate to this with a lost love

  • poor boy ; everybody touches him ^^

  • Paul jones had a haunting voice few ever came close to him Manfred Mann were more than a match for anyone, the Beatles Beach Boys Stones and all the rest included, from 64 onward great memories thanks for the posting

  • Wonderful clip of a great song!

  • wish i could go back in time shake his hand and buy his album great song

  • Paul Jones certainly had one the best voices of his day. Very distinctive and never better displayed than in this lovely song.

  • I do have to say that I thought Manfred Mann looked a plonker,,,,, but I loved them just the same. Paul looked so young too,,, or just I am so old now,,,

  • Pure 1960s Great and Paul Jones and the lads first division

  • Crazy girls defeated him in the end ;)

  • Awsome!!!!

  • what a mess: the disturbing girl on the side, or both

  • yes it does Leofric Lady, another year gone. :-)

  • Это исключительная и очень "тёплая" песня! Она напоминает мне те годы когда я учился в школе.Это музыка моего старшего брата.Записи "доставали" любыми средствами и за любую цену.Это одна из лучших английских групп 60-х.

  • @Bruno47602 Fook me sideways Bet Im one of da only youtubers who actually can read & understand wot u just said! And I agree!

  • @TheJosieFox Thanks for your message! I am worshipper old British groups.Sorry my tongue.

  • And it made a woman in her 60's feel 16 again, thanks Paul Jones

  • @mintyk123 Paul Jones the very best

  • definition of music. I ws born way too late. lol

  • OMG!! How did he manage to mime with all those girls mauling him?!

  • good vocal

  • Great clip. Do this mind experiment: Chnge the genders and artist, say, Lulu. Have her singing while guys stroke her legs and grab at her. Now, project forwards to this day and age and try to hear the fury as the kill joy feminist bitches scream about sexual harrassment law suits. See what I mean? Man, I hate what the lefty freaks and their miserable politics have done to us.

  • @DumblyBrilliant ahahahahahaa.... so true

  • Somebody should have put that monkey back in it's cage before the song started..those chimps are so mischievous.

  • That is a pretty sad remark if you are inferring what I think you are. You'd do yourself a service by deleting it.

  • @kemptonite

I don't know what you mean...haven't you ever heard of kids being referred to as

    " Cheeky Monkeys " ? ;-)

Thanks for explaining the Pond query.

  • You referred to putting that monkey, singular, back in its cage. And then chimps, not cheeky monkeys.

Seeing as there is only one coloured girl there and she is the one doing the grabbing of the singer it certainly seems a strange use of words.

  • @kemptonite

You're right , I did say Monkey..but if you watch the video again..carefully...there are 2 girls grabbing him...one white..one black...so I should have said Monkeys.

  • @kemptonite

That shut you up didn't it...you shit stirring asshole !!

  • @seventiesclassic First time I've been on since and only then because someone had sent me a personal message so I thought I'd see any replies. No shit stirring involved. It was obvious what you meant.

Asshole? Are you a Yank or just silly cunt?

  • @kemptonite

Since you ask..neither..but the term asshole just seems to fit you perfectly...

  • great song

  • Never heard this song before really beautiful........

  • ok 60years!! Polska!!!

  • paul jones is a fine presenter on radio 2 and he was born paul pond

  • If Brian Jones had had his way Paul Pond would have been the Rolling Stones vocalist.

Saw Manfred Mann back in 1964. One of the support bands didn't turn up and they did a straight 2 and a half hours. Anyone about back then will remember you normally got 20 minutes to 30 minutes off a headline act.

Still one of the best bands live I've seen. Paul Jones sounds just as good all these years later.

Will present bands be watched on you tube 40 years on with such affection as the 60's ones are?

  • @kemptonite

    Paul Pond ??????

  • Paul Pond was the real name of the singer Paul Jones, and the name he was using when Brian Jones first approached him about becoming the singer in a band he was putting together. He turned the idea down as he couldn't see a carrer in music singing blues songs. Later Jones wa ould have been quite happy to see him replace Mick Jagger in the Stones when they were after a recording contract. How things might have been completely different...

  • Wow! I want to be a singer now! Then the babes'll be ALL over me! That was great!

  • what a great voice

  • Yeah!! Great voice!!

    Mich

  • Watched and listened to the Manfreds tonight in Newport. Paul Jones has a great voice.

  • let's see any of today's rock and roll singers top mr. jones' amazing voice

  • All your comments about him makes me feel that you are my brothers, We all love 60' music! Juan

  • Paul Jones voice is simply amazing. manfred mann is such a great group

  • does anyone have a copy of the version by Marie Knight ?

  • Maybe Mr Paul Jones is a christian .GOD knows.

  • If those girls touching Paul bothered him that much, he'd probably just move out of the way. He'd probably flattered by their attention toward him.

  • I saw Paul Jones last week. I grabbed him by the arm as he passed me on the stairs. He looked slightly nervous, but I expect he's used to it by now!

  • i remember reading that the girls who were grabbing him were put up to it by,i think, their manager, to put paul off. he did very well under the circumstances. great record, one of the best bumfeelers of the sixties.

  • hehe hope you understand that he dosent sing here;)! but a great vid:)!

  • I understand he has now turned to religion

  • yeah. he is into religion in a big way now. i think it could be his wife that has "persuaded" him. she is a very spiritual woman. we saw him at the maryport blues festival ( it is on radio 2 now 31/08/09. your will be able to listen to it on bbc iplayer, up until 7th september )

he is still a great singer though

  • I love how he is always just smiling, even while those stupid girls keep grabbing at him. always makes me laugh!!

  • the manfreds are feckin brilliant, i love dylan and dylan loved the manfreds!

  • My favourite Manfred Mann song! Almost forgotten that there was such a song....but know what?..the words all came back...I was actually singing along with Paul Jones. Thanks!

  • I think Manfred is lovely. Tom as well.

They were surely the forerunners of geek chic, weren't they?

  • Thanks for posting this.

I havent heard it for years.

I met Paul Jones with the Manfreds at a gig in Copenhagen in February 2009.

    very nice guy.

  • I hope Manfreds and I hope Mr Manfred comes too to Umea in north Sweden .I hope they sing come tomorrow and With GOD on our side too.Shalom.

  • The girls should go to hare krishna , smile , .Mr Paul Jones its very patient.

  • This was my favorite song with Manfred Mann. This year was The Blues band in Umea in north of Sweden .I was there and a lady talked about Paul Jones song I m a bad bad boy .The lady looked at me and sad Im getting old .I think its was funny so I sad to the lady when you are hundred you are old.I m the shy girl who sat in the chair .GOD bless.

  • Ahhh. He was so patient. This makes me smile every time I watch it

  • Great song!

  • oh my god are the fans tickling him while he is trying to sing? thats so cute!

  • It's a good job tey weren't trying to touch him somewhere else! ;)

I personally would be trying to touch Manfred, or Tom! Both of them have very nice hands as well! :)

  • Bob on, great song, sung well from Mr Paul Jones. Many thanks

  • See the black girl having a laugh? This is proof that Britain was truly tolerant and civil back then.Yes, there was some racism but think about it, the black girl wouldn't have even been allowed in the studio had that been the USA.Britain clearly lead (and leads) the way in decency, common sense, tolerence and rock'n'roll. Rule Britannia!

  • great comment! thanx ..Lyndloo..

  • What pains in the arses those stupid girls were.

  • not doing any harm!

  • I didn't say it was harmful - I said it was stupid while he's trying to perform.

  • Come Tomorrow

  • Great song

  • lmfao why dont they just grab his balls and rip his pants off oooo young love hey LOL. And paul did a good job keepin his face straight ahahhaha

  • This is so funny and cute :-) Thanks for this video!

  • whres the security lol

  • ..no security needed these days

  • Ladies please! NO MEANS NO!

  • I like how he's being a good sport about it, despite the fact that he's being grabbed by a bunch of horny teenage girls. LOL!

  • I think it's hilarious the way the girls are "teasing" him, I think he thought they were going to grab his wedding tackle. Great clip.

  • supurb tune

  • Haven't heard this in ages WOW !!

    Gr8 Voice Luv The Mannn

    Brill S2

  • Paul Jones became a born again Christian in the future and now hosts the 700 club in England.

  • fantastic..I remember actually watching this on TV, he was trying to keep a straight face despite the wandering hands of the girl standing close by him in the audience..great video..thanks for posting it

  • those three girls are so funny. Trying to molest him on stage. Haha!!

  • Wonderful.

  • Fantastic clip - thank you. I was waiting for security to grab those girls and move them away but of course this was the 60s and people were so much nicer then! Poor Paul was being molested. He mimed well despite the groping. Paul Jones was gorgeous and had such a strong voice too. I was a young girl when this was released but seeing it again now has made a woman in her 50s very happy. Doesn't time fly though!

One of the best from Manfred Mann.

  • Yea but he does seem to be like "Get off of me already you crazy lady". HAHA!!

  • Would rate this as my favourite Manfred Mann song.

I liked them for carrying out their unique style very well and achieving a string of big hits.

  • Grear song! Love Manfred Mann!

  • that black girl is

    all over him

    hahaha

  • "Hahaha" is right. If you think she or the other women in the video appear genuine I must assume you think Mike's singing "live." He's lip synching. They've been paid. Santa Claus is not a real person. Next!!!

  • ..at last...somebody with common sense,

  • Woman, do you mean the young teenager's? of course they weren't paid that's complete noncense

You sent off for tickets to get in, and they let a few in who gathered outside, i assume your American?

  • Paul Jones, was the best of Manfred Mann. A great singer.Come on! The Paul Jones years had the real Manfred songs!

  • diamond geezer,

  • My 2nd all time Manfred Mann favorite song. Thank you for sharing. And yes the dis/advantage of doing a "live" show. Paul Jones did an excellent job of keeping in sync. Love Manfred on keyboard and Mike on drums ....I give up, they were all good. A pleasure to see live at Sydney Stadium.

  • Great band, thanks for sharing. The girls trying to grab his fruit bowl must have been a big distraction, he did very well to maintain his poise.

  • Paul enjoyed the girls....I think he was afraid they were going to grab him intimately! Manfred looked a bit like the guy from the Muppets! Mike Vickers on guitar was amused at it all!

  • about 64 now missyb 16, but looks 15 years younger. Still got his hair, does a show on Radio 2 I think it is, and still performs live. Top bloke.

  • he is so hot!!

  • this isn't the same vocalist in manfred mann's earth band (blinded by the light)...is it?

  • Y'know... I believe it is.

Cuz, if you've seen the two videos "Do Wah Diddy" and "Blinded by the light", and you compare the keyboardist's "looks", they look similar(well at least I think so); therefore, I believe it is. xD

But I have no... evidence other than that to prove so. ^^ Lulz.

  • no. this singer left and some other guy joined, mike dabo i think

  • ok, thanks guys.

  • fantastic

  • THANKS SLUMBERSZZ for the share ' brilliant thanks TCK ' issy

  • Silly girls bugging him while he's trying to perform!

  • My mind is made calm whenever it listens.

  • Thanks for posting!!

    I never saw this.

  • Hey, Jones enjoyed the girls! Look at the smile on his face. When they don`t want you, it`s time to worry. Anyway, he was just miming!

  • the guitar riff is quite good, I think is one of the best song of them. I love it a lot. the girl messing around him is hilarious and cute. Lol

  • great song by a great singer

  • cool ...never seen it before.

  • do you have any more manfred mann videos with paul jones?

  • I love it ! Thank you says Tantemanfred

  • interesting comments... i see two women messing with him.

  • ha ha Thanks for sharing, one of many I never got to see, circa 1966. On the other hand I did see quite a few that I haven't seen since. Actually, there are so many videos from that period I don't see how they could go wrong making them available commercially. It was a great time of general good will (at least in music), and there must have been thousands of them made (well, maybe a thousand anyway)...
