@lessedu the corolla is nowhere near as heavy as the Camry. that short stroke in a light weight car, and possibly a manual transmission is torquey. those cars are tuned to be a fast, stock, car. the HP isnt much different in the turbo eclipse than that of the XRS. takes a second to spool up that turbo, so for a couple seconds, they are both on engine. besides, that is why Mitsubishi put a turbo on it. without it its too slow to get out of its own way lol. literally.

ok ok... i've owned a few eclipe gst's and yeah this was a gst . I currently have 95 eclipse gst. It has intake and exhaust. I have raced a Corolla XRS and Matrix XRS and sure enought they kept up. They werent stock either but dude, my car is turbo and theirs was all motor. My respects to them. And yes i did beat em but barely
@johngo1224 If that was only a GS or RS (140 hp at the crank), the XRS would've killed it pretty badly considering it makes 170 at the crank. Even though the XRS is underrated I don't think it would beat a GST in good condition, if that was a GST it was a bit down on power and if it was a GS/RS it wasn't stock. Also the Corolla weighs a bit less. It could've been an automatic GST
@TheMrsosito my wife had a V6, 2000 model. I had a 94 22re 5 speed truck. wife in the eclipse, me in the truck. take off to 70 I had her. after that, she had me. XRS beats me on take off, so yeah, he should get excited. i ran high test fuel, same as recommended for the V6 eclipse, no muffler and K&N filter, so even if that made a difference, which isnt enough mods to outrun a V6 Eclipse, I did, then the XRS would have no trouble at all. the XRS is faster in the long haul than the V6 Tiburon too.
@IslangHerb : The wing which you're referring to that wrapped around the rear window didn't appear until 1997, including a new nose job for the Eclipse. This is clearly a 1996 or older, in which the RS, GS, and GT wing came as an option. GT-S and GSX came with the wings stock. Watch the video again, you can tell from the front end this is a '95 or '96. '97's on up didn't have that design for their foglights. So if I slap a WRX wing on a STi, does that make it a WRX?
That is a gst or gsx. If you look at the bottom of the car, theres the black on it. Only gst's and gsx's have that in those year models. The eclipse does seem stock cause you dont even hear anything from it. The corolla didnt pull on him that much too compare to other videos (corolla vs wrx/s2000). Have to see it for myself first to believe how fast it really is. Not to say its not, just something i have to experience first hand. Not bad at all tho if its really that fast. ;D

German cars would nice be to own but they are to fragile and the parts are expensive. It would take close to two times as much to get the equal power out of a VQ30.

2gs don't have a typical bov like you think, it reroutes the back pressure back through the system so you don't hear the normal bov sound, I used to own a 2g and now own an XRS (sold my 05 Mustang for it), if that was a 420a, it wouldn't have been anywhere near that close of a race.
it is called a BOV by the dealer and all parts stores, but it is more like a bypass valve sound wise like the evos have and its a plastic piece of shit that breaks and cant hold boost for shit even stock boost on a T-2small.. and evrey BOV reroutes the pressure back into the system so it doesnt go into the compressor with opposite force only time it doesnt is when its vented
see not all cars need one as the stock setup doesnt call for it. stocGNs and turbo mustangs and t birds have no BOV stock and many modified ones still dont have one. we had a modded regal t type with a t4 turbo on 20 pounds and no bov and never had an issue and the turbo t bird had no bov and stock turbo with 150k miles and no issues. all foreign turbo cars come with BOVs or bypass valves stock like the mitsus, skylines, ferraris etc. american cars mostly had no BOVs stock
@mustangjunkie10 If they don't have one they need it so that the turbo doesn't surge and put unnecessary stress on the thing. Muscle cars are more likely to be BOV less, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be better with one. You can hear the surging sound with cars that don't have a BPV or BOV.

@metallicafn The 3.5 is far from trash. The engine in the GTR is a Nissan VQ37 Which is just a bigger and modified VQ35. You dont really know what youre talking about. German cars would nice be to own but they are to fragile and the parts are expensive. It would take close to two times as much to get the equal power out of a VQ30.

2gs don't have a typical bov like you think, it reroutes the back pressure back through the system so you don't hear the normal bov sound, I used to own a 2g and now own an XRS (sold my 05 Mustang for it), if that was a 420a, it wouldn't have been anywhere near that close of a race.

it is called a BOV by the dealer and all parts stores, but it is more like a bypass valve sound wise like the evos have and its a plastic piece of shit that breaks and cant hold boost for shit even stock boost on a T-2small.. and evrey BOV reroutes the pressure back into the system so it doesnt go into the compressor with opposite force only time it doesnt is when its vented

see not all cars need one as the stock setup doesnt call for it. stocGNs and turbo mustangs and t birds have no BOV stock and many modified ones still dont have one. we had a modded regal t type with a t4 turbo on 20 pounds and no bov and never had an issue and the turbo t bird had no bov and stock turbo with 150k miles and no issues. all foreign turbo cars come with BOVs or bypass valves stock like the mitsus, skylines, ferraris etc. american cars mostly had no BOVs stock
