I dont think so, .mate i saw a man in 37 deg c wearing shorts sandals and a t shirts a his wife was dressed head to to in black and she was sweating like a pig, judging by the sweat marks so i dont think so.
Thats completely rediculous, fancy-clothes and short skirts have got absolutely nothing to do with the veil and how inconvenient the veil makes life for women. Because of the veil there is now a vitamin D deficiency in britain with women that wear the veil because it prevents them from sunlight and now there are muslim children being born with rickets and other health problems because there mothers are not getting enough vitamin D.
Whenever the veil is debated, muslim extremists bring out all these women that say "its my choice to wear this" pehaps so - but what pressures have been brought to bear on them. I listened to an interview with women who claimed to choose to wear the veil and they said they chose to wear it because they felt safe with the veil, in other words these women feel intimidated in their own community and it is never right for a woman to feel that way in her own community.
@bdhjx That is very wrong for you to put words in those Muslima's mouths...I live in the U.S. and I just reverted to Islam two weeks ago. I wear hijaab and I DO feel liberated by it!! First of all, I know I am pleasing Allah by being modest. Secondly, I am not worried about looking like the rest of the world, and lastly, I have been treated with much more kindness (doors held, smiles, offers to help carry things) than I ever received when I wasn't a Muslima. Al Humdullilah!
@omarmommy First of all 'modesty' is not fixed, what is considered to be modest is determined by social norms, but Islam drops that context and turns it into a religious hegemony of social control. The reason why people help you is because people acosiate the hijab as being helpless, and the image of a helpless woman fills the ego's of men. Of course Muslim women want appreciation and recognition from people, muslim women are human beings and are just like any other woman.
@bdhjx Your comment is the exact reason why I dropped out of Social Psychology...are you a Muslima? A Muslim? You can't learn about people and their lifestyles from some book or college professor. I had misconceptions about Islam until I began to study it and then reverted. Helpless? Spare me: I have chosen to live a lifestyle outside the norm in the United States, I make it painfully obvious that I am Muslim, and that takes a lot of courage to do. No helplessness here.
@omarmommy You might not identify yourself as being helpless, but others will. Even I am extra considerate to muslim women. I think the hijab makes them look cute.
@omarmommy Yes you dropped out of social psycology because you can't stand coneptual thought, so you decide to be indoctrinated by an anti-conceptual ideology - Islam, and Islam is an ideology that is incompatible with mans existence on earth as a free and rational being.
@bdhjx You are a free and rational being, yet you are a slave to what the world thinks of you (and others). Islam appealed to me because (1), Allah willed it, and (2) I got tired of trying to live up to the worlds standard this so called life. For once in my life, I am truly FREE. I can talk to you all day, but unless Allah wills you to truly understand Islam, I am just spinning my wheels. This is my last comment. Have a good one.
@omarmommy I don't rely on the world to give me self worth, nor do I rely on religious superstition like you to do the same. I hold that every man is an end into himself, not the means to the ends of others. He must exist for his own sake, not sacrificing himself to others nor sacrificing others to himself. The pursuit of of his own rational self-inerest and of his own happiness is his highest moral purpose of his life.

I'm from Europe, about 98 % of people from my country r Christians, from whole my family only I converted to Islam. In my country we have only 3 mosques and only one Muslim shop with meat-halal, it's in the capitol. I read on WebSite one time abt Muslim woman , she live in here, she must take off alwyays her hijab when her boss come to her office....It's real opression! Not hijab. It;s real discriminate! Not hijab.
2- you got the message all wrong, veiled women never asked you to cover, the proof is many muslim women do not cover, (their heads, they still cover most private parts).
3- the video is made to those who keep sayin' veiled women r retarded, uneducated, oppressed and, and, and... those who think they r speaking for them.
we choose too for god not for anyone else, but i should say that am a Muslim Arabic girl but i dont wear any scarf on my head it's something between me and Allah and nonegot to do with it ....
This is a very true video. Not just a muslim thinking though b/c TRUE christian women feel the same and dress modest(just not in veil). But nothing is wrong with hijab and veils.I like them.
