I was kind of pissed and saddend by the actions of the IRL to race there because they are the drivers and they know best. All of us racers have a sixth sense you can call it where we know something bad is going to happen and weeks before i was thinking about who is next? And even at low speeds the tires maintain a large amount of heat and too much heat 1 kills your tires and 2 reduce grip the whole concept of scrubbing tires really is only to clean them off and to also keep heat in but at 90 - 110 mph you really have no worry of heat loss in the tires.
