  • When I was watching this video on this plane for the first time, I thought at almost to the end that while everyone is getting away from the aircraft, the woman is still inside reading the safety instructions.

  • I seen this before. When I was young, I thought it was funny about the luggage part.

  • going on japan airlines to tokyo from manila on oct 27

  • 1:46-- 1:50 BAGGAGE NO WANT TO STAY HERE* bin opens and bag falls on guy*

  • 0:00 - 0:01 WAS EPIC

  • Japan Air Lines has the most informative safety video in the world.

  • What song it is?

  • informational / educational, works with most aircraft, but i think the air canada one is more detailed and english-user friendly, known from experience?

however there were details in this that air canada did NOT mention. ;)

  • I mean Ekstrapp

  • Ekstratapp, you finnish?

  • Qantas & Finnair are two most safety airlines in the world!

  • well finnair is safe you are correct on that buy qantas is haveing some problems of thier own, for example they have maintenence problems so technicly qantas is not really safe

  • The problem with this video is that JAL made a generic video for all of their mainline aircraft in their fleet. They should have customized the video per a/c type. The parts of the video showing where the exits are located, how they look like and operate are confusing if they are all shown together and not per a/c type.

  • @tonywestsider There are detailed safety Manuals for each type of A/C in seatpocket.

    Watch 4:10~4:14

  • @Autumnhammy If you had any common sence, you wouldn't have said that.

There are many transfer customers using JAL especially those going to Australia from U.K and going to the USA from Korea, H.K and China.

  • Japanese people aren't the only ones who fly on Japan Airlines. Many foreigners fly on JAL, and English is the most widespread language in the world.

  • @Autumnhammy It is for the travelers.

  • i took the japan airline to tokyo, narita ,and then switch plane to guangzhou ,china

  • poor passenger on 1:48

  • "take a position to protect against impact". lol. I think that means : pray you were born superman.

Nice vid though, yet a lil long.

  • ありがとうございました

  • lovely japanase female voice...

  • The English speaker is Canadian.

  • Comment removed

  • haha at 2:46

  • i find that they're not specific enough on their safety instructions compared to other airlines' safety videos

  • I strongly agree, especially with the exits, I mean, some people aren't actually gonna look at the safety card to see were there exits are, I mean, some people don't even bother with watching the safety video.

  • The video instructing the user is good enough - The user has an obligation to do what the video says, and disobeying isn't an excuse

  • nice arigatogosimasta

  • you mean arigato gozaimashita

  • the people look like miis LMAO

  • 1:48 owned

  • nice safety video. straight to the point and quick

  • i dont get it then how can sum ppl can record videos during flight or landing?

  • remind me of the flight under japan airlines i boarded just last wed

  • Hi everybody. Look at this link, you can find there the best airlines song of the world, it is hungarian, and wrote a hungarian genius :)

u can find it on my site enjoy arrigato cosaimasta

  • JAL's safety demo is full of common sense and quick-flowing, considering that it is announced in 2 languages.

  • des en kiki endes..... orale lñinda voz la de la japonesa

  • from a guy who cant understand this i can it is on normal speed and it is cool i wonder if japan airlines will ever go to an airbus a380!.?

  • 私はこのような愚かなんだから、メキシコの手紙致道言語理解していないですが、私は彼の歌詞は好きではない

  • kanichiwa hi how did u get that on

  • La voz de la mujer japones es super sexy...

  • lol @ the zombie slide

  • i love jal

  • Awesome...

  • "In case of an interception by a giant dinosaur from another planet, we urge you to call his name while pointing at it like this:

    GOJIRA! GOJIRAAAA!"

We wish you a pleasant flight.

  • @Persiana lol!

  • I've this video on my Walkman. xD Gotta love Japan!

  • 3:53 zombie slide

  • lol !!

  • even though some of you dont like japan airlines safety video,i dont care bcoz jal is one of the most safe airline to fly,and they are one of the best airline,so for those who hate jal!,just step back and dont even try to watch this video again!

  • so this is the one that they play on the seat screens at the moment?

  • I flew JAL on September 13 to Tokyo, and I saw this video. It was awesome.

  • I just flew JAL yesterday after coming back from Japan for over a month. After hearing how this country (USA) is economically falling apart I wish I got onto the next flight back to Tokyo... :: sighs :: It sucks to be back... :(

  • she said against wierd

  • i like the music at the beginning :D

  • the guy looks pissed when he tries to smoke. JAL needs to reword some of its phrases... "Please watch this video for you safety instructions." Sounds weird and "Oxygen Masks will appear when needed" makes me think the the masks are going to definilty fall on my flight.

  • At long last, they finally have it in english and japanese.

  • Yeah - I saw the previous video and it was ... strange.

  • lool!If this video is from 1994 how is the kid playing psp??LMAO

  • great! I can't wait to go on it next week!

by the way, this video isn't from 1994

    It's pretty new

  • i know. it came out with JAL's new livery, in 2003.

  • it's the new video. released last 2000 i guess.

  • this is coool

    I'm so excited!!!!!!!!

    2 more weeks i gotta wait :D

  • wheneva i watch this video, i feel da excitement that i feel on da plane when i depart. :)

  • I flew with Ryanair and kept my phone on airplane mode and listened some music :)

  • It's like flying to Japan all over again!

  • I have one question. I know this may sound stupid because the answer may be clearly in this video and staring me in the face, but: are you allowed to use laptops or notebooks after the plane has reached cruising altitude as long as you shout off the wireless and don't use the internet or wifi?

If anyone could help as soon as possible it would be of assistance since I am planning to fly on JAL soon! Thank you!

  • it doesn't say you can't use them, so yeah probably you can

  • I think so. I used my mobile phone throughout the entire flight, but I had it set to "Plane Mode". This way it turns off the Mobile Phone's Ariel or something like that.

  • You are free to use any electronics once you've been notified by the crew, just as long as it doesn't emit electronic signals; e.g.: turn-off the wi-fi, for phones, set to plane mode or turn it completely off.

  • does that include psp's?

  • psp's would often be referred as gameboy. haha!

  • I love this safety video! But the one thing that always creeped me out is that the MD-80 at 01:57 looks more like a VC-10 with two engines LOL

  • Imperfect's post is not correct; a Boeing crew made the repair.

  • Huh?? NO notebook or game boy allowed while flying?! Is that for all flight??

  • Only on take off and landing.

  • they have a psp when they are like: turn off electronic devices

  • Equipment fitted to aircraft has been tested thoroughly before being used on commercial flights-Your electronic device may not have been.

Certain passenger electronic devices are ok for use during cruise. Mobile phones are not ok. There is even anecdotal evidence that Game Boy-type devices have been known to interfere with the autopilot.

During landing, your device may interfere with critical navigation systems.

I've even seen portable radios interfere with cabin pressurisation.

    Rgds

  • That happened in 1985. It's 2008. Also, JAL123 was due to a faulty repair made by Boeing. There might have been an issue about JAL not properly dealing with complaints about whistling in that particular aircraft, but again this was back in 1985.

  • The repair was not made by Boeing. JAL engineers incorrectly carried out a repair when following Boeing repair diagrams.

  • No, a Boeing crew made the repair. The Air Crash Investigation episode states this.

  • Apologies...

I thought JAL made the repair, as their head engineer commited suicide and JAL gave the victims' families compensation. I see now that JAL only failed to inspect the repair properly (not surprising, as you assume Boeing would do a good job). Anyway, the accident has made all Boeing's aircraft much safer now (with modifications to the hydraulic systems).

    Rgds

  • The Boeing engineer only used one row of rivets on the rear pressure bulkhead, where he/she should have used two rows - and this made the whole thing nine times weaker than it should be. Hence it failed (due to metal fatigue).

Besides, JAL only claimed partial responsibility for the crash and the Boeing engineer who did the repair commited suicide after the event as well.

  • どこで手に入れたんでしょう?

  • LOL at 1:48!

  • i remember watching the in flight safety video for JAL this past summer and i thought it was a bit humourous (but still informative).

  • You are not alone, LOL - Lots of us do :) Unusual, but cool nonetheless

  • I hv a love in watching safety videos of airlines... Weird, but cool... LOL

  • reported

  • i like their look they're cute

  • they like to use their animation skills in quite a lot of saftey videos don't they you hardly see safety videos with real people any more. I only know of delta doing this.

  • This safety video could save your life.

  • Oh yeah, especially on the japan airlines.

  • japan airlines is very safe

  • "All electronic devices must be switched off during take-off and landing", and many people record the take-off and landing with cameras, cell phones...

  • I know you have a point but they cant record with cell phones because it interferes with the aircrafts systems so they wouldn't be able to take off.

  • The best safety vid ever!

The Japenese always has good animation!

  • wow...its been 4 years since i flown on JAL...(Chicago to Tokyo)...and i still remember watching this video haha..

  • I wish my baggage could automatically jump up and store itself... :(

  • i love japan airlines!! i feel so safe.

  • This one is good. Second to Virgin Atlantic, in my humble opinion. *bows*

  • best safety video!

  • Really Detailed like it. Wish that every Airline would be like that espescially Philippine Airlines. Thanks for sharing

  • so much better then American safety vids.

  • By the way, those CG passengers looked pretty panicked when leaving that aircraft.

  • Oooh...detailed.

The Japanese are preeetty precautious (as compared to AAL, the only airline I've been on and can still remember. Those videos are like 1:30!)

  • yeah, especially since the JAL flight crashed in the 80's

  • Agreed. Accidents and incidents generally do lead to improvements in safety. JAL seems to spare no expense keeping even their old aircraft in pristine condition.

  • AAL as in American Airlines? yea, some of their aircraft don't even have videos!

  • I went on this plane to stop at Japan because I was going to the Philippines with my family.

  • Oh the memories are comming back!

    Mmmm.... japanese rice crackers...

  • Mauto, that post is irrelevant and inappropriate. This is not about World War II, this is about a safety video from many years later.

  • wow! it brings back the memories! i remember this video.. i wanna go back sooo bad

  • ooo i remember this video!

i fly in these twice a year. And to tell you the truth, the japanese airline has very sweet, young, nice flight attendents, no offense, but the American Airlines had old, mean, crabby attendents. They scared me...

  • Could be worse. One time I was flying with KLM, a Dutch airline, there was an air "hostess", and I swear "she" was a man. *shudders*

  • ah yeah thats creeepy!

  • This has NOTHING to do with the topic, which is a Japan Airlines Safety Video

  • In the event of a water landing, you are on your own you fat, foreign dog-droppings. You will sink like a stone to the bottom of the sea! We wish you a pleasant flight!

  • sounds like the safety video for American Airlines.

  • If only someone would upload it...

  • If only someone uploaded that video...

  • Uhhhh... where is that from? "In the event of a water landing, you are on your own you fat, foreign dog-droppings" - Uh, the English is there too.

  • the idea was from the movie chicken run: "the exits are located here, here, & here. in the quite likely event of an emergency, put your head between your knees & kiss your bum good-bye!"

  • Ooooh, I see :) - I saw that movie but I forget the actual scene.

  • 1:48 is funny

  • i thought 00:57 was hilarious! that guy was like "oh shit you caught me!" when it showed him smoking! LMFAO!!!

  • When I was a little boy I didn't like safety videos, because I was very scared flying and I though that an emergency is coming because they are going to tell what to do in an emergency xD

  • this movie makes me nervous cuz in about....3 years im going to japan and i have always heard about air plane crashes espcally during 9/11 cuz i dont wanna die when im 19!!!!! DX

  • i'm moving to Japan in a few years, & JAL is the airline that will take me there cuz they are the best & Singapore Airlines sucks ass! Did you know that Singapore Airlines has had more plane crashes than any other airline in the Far East, while JAL is one of the safest airlines in the world?

  • Did you know, Matt, that I can check statistics for this and I found both SQ and JL's statistics?

SQs's only FATAL incident (this does NOT include SilkAir, which also had one fatal incident) was SQ006 (Singapore-Taipei-Los Angeles) in 2000.

Japan Airlines had the following since 1970 (this isn't to imply that JL is UNSAFE - It's just to prove my point that I can check statistics):

    * 1972: JAL471

    * 1977: JAL715

    * 1982: JAL350

    * 1985: JAL123 (thank Boeing for the improper repair!)

  • Matt A210 was NOT correct in his assessment of SQ as having "more plane crashes than any other airline in the Far East" - SQ had one fatal incident (2000: SIN-TPE-LAX), while its subsidiary SilkAir had one fatal incident. The airline that fits the description of Matt somewhat is China Airlines.

CI's last fatal incident was the CI611 in-flight breakup on the TPE-HKG route. It's had other fatal accidents before that.

I still do not trust CI.

  • ok, well, lets just say that JAL & SQ both have a really good safety record, ALL RIGHT????

  • Hey, that's fine! We can all bash China Airlines! :)

  • thats such a cute safety video!

  • I love fly with Jal^^

  • is that the dreamliner (787) or the 777?

  • Its a Boeing 777-300/ER

  • JAL got cited for safety violations by JAPAN Aviation authorities. You want service, go with Singapore Airlines.

  • Singapore Airlines is almost 2x more expensive, and with angry bitch-and-moan crews. You call that service?

  • Matt, SQ is supposed to have higher service - it seems like you must have picked a flight that happened to have lousy crew.

  • Really? Then how come my comment got 4 good ratings?

  • Let's see, are you implying that, because your comment got "4 good ratings," what you said applies to every single SQ crew?

I have not flown with SQ before. If you had one SQ flight, though, that may have been a bad individual flight.

Consider why people gave you "good ratings" - Maybe a guy accidentally clicked the button (it cannot be withdrawn) or he thought it would be interesting to rate the post, or he agrees and gives you a good rating.

  • Traveling on JAL is AWESOME!!! However, it would be nice if the airline would add American movies to their entertaimnet systems

  • Really? I've managed to get JAL flights cheap through my travel agent.

  • Fantastic, where did u get this clip from???awesome 2 c some more

  • Even their airline safety videos are cute. Not fair.

  • THEY GET TO PLAY GAMES AND WATCH DVDS ON INTERNATINAL FLIGHTS!!! COOL!!! I rode on it before

  • Japan Airline is pretty good too... very sweet gals! Very, very polite! I flew JAL from Dallas to Singapore.. on economy, not bad!

  • thanks

  • the only problem is that JAL tickets cost a fortune: over $3,000!

  • No...

From London Heathrow to Tokyo Narita, then to Chitose (in the North Island of Japan) and back costs me £700 which is roughly $1000.

Because of the current economic crisis, they're even cheaper.

Where the hell did you get '$3000'?

  • is japan airlines good service because i need to know because i am leaving in 14 days.

  • My boyfriend says they have games to play and TV to watch (Japanese of course) if you're bored and stuff.

  • is japan airlines any good??

  • hi could anyone send me this file or tell me where to get it i would much appreciate it

    tfielding@ hot mail. com thankyou

  • is japan airlines good??

  • twelve august i am going tho natal brazil with arke fly

  • I like so much

  • how did u get this????

This is in much more detail than most flights I have been on~!! eg it even says "dont take any luggage with you" and "hold the mask strongly for oxygen..

  • Is this a safety vid for the B787? Because the aircraft looks like the B787.

  • this video wasn't meant for any particular aircraft, so it could be used for any JAL flight.

  • lol, banstaman's comment

  • WTF.? when i went tokyo last christmas in the planes washroom theres a ash like wtf.?

  • fuck i remember back in 1996 u could smoke on JAL. wtf happened?

smoking on a plane is like L33T

  • Thank you for posting this. It's a great way to learn

"real" Japanese vs textbook. Also fun to compare the J vs. English translations. Wish the animations were better looking though --- surely JAL could afford to hire better artists?

  • lol, the second guy smoking was like," SHIT YOU CAUGHT ME!!"

  • This has got to be the best airline safety video that I've ever seen.
