  • Oh, this place looks like you got a "minority" problem.

  • When my mom left Elis Island, she boarded at train in New York Grand central and stepped of here in Central terminal Buffalo. Too start Her new life after leaving war torn Poland. God bless your efforts to restore in to office space. Shame on us for letting it tort.

  • This building looks amazing. Too bad it got so rundown over the years I Hope in the near future that this is restored.

  • If you wrote that song, I want to sign you to my label.

  • @CW2SCOGG I wish, all by The Gorillaz

  • It was 1959 I was 4 years old traveling with my family from Buffalo to Florida. Early memories: Clocks inside and outside, Buffalo statue, but seem to remember a large buffalo upon the wall (I may be wrong). Due to a long wait we got a hotel room somewhere nearby. As trains were boarding, I became "lost" in the terminal for at least 20 minutes (it seemed like a lifetime) A sailor picked me up walking up and down the trains until I spotted my Mother. Feelings of sheer terror haunt me still.

  • I have been out of work since May 2009 from layoff and would love to live up there.

My unemployment pays enough to support that and my wife could find another job somewhere.

But there are still some great Buffalo neighborhoods with affordable cost of purchase-problem is everyone wants that nice place just 20 minutes away in the areas you speak of.

But the city itself should hold some kind of lottery for those like myself that would love and cherish and take care of a HOME!

    Rotting homes not ok!

  • So many houses empty too in the city.

Why cant they just give out special easy mortgages to people that are renting so they can own some of the 22,000 plus homes left abandoned and they can have some home ownership and maybe bring back some pride?

They just raze them and there are empty lots all over the city and some of these houses are gorgeous and just need work.

  • @GaryBoy54 I agree with you to a certain extant, but the people in the surrounding areas (for the most part) are not taking care of their homes. Buffalo has a problem, no one wants to live there. People are leaving the city for Williamsville, Amherst, or the Southtowns. And it could be argued that the city isn't doing a good job, but I'm not gunna get into that. And I think it's a great idea for the government to give more money away...

  • They killed the last buffalo...they deserve to die the bastards!

  • It is really quite sad that the Central Terminal was left to fall to the wayside for so long. I'm glad restoration has begun. If there is one thing the city of Buffalo should invest in and save, it's the Buffalo Central Terminal. Lots of rich history in this building. It's sad to see my hometown is such disrepair. It's not just the Central terminal. A good majority of the city is like this. So sad :(

  • this building is so beautiful, this is very sad that the former owner had let it get to that point.

  • whats the name of this song

  • i miss the place so duz my dad its so sad to see it shut down and wrecked

  • @jennacade2 The Train Terminal used to be an awesome place back when it was in operation. But like Buffalo, things have changed and have been ruined. Buffalo will Never be what it once was. It's Sad.

  • Comment removed

  • hummm so i see this video and it is how the terminal use to be and how it is now but what i don't see in this video that every one on here is commenting about is racism hum that's weird.

  • ok,so they didnt put the art into safe storage ,ie the Buffalo statue, the clock?

  • I went to the Terminal for the Halloween party hosted by Shredd and Ragan from 103.3 The Edge in October, 2007.

I still have some pictures of it.

  • Great before-after-and during shots. Sad to see how the vandalism and stripping of anything of value looked. Glad to know people are working hard to restore her. Thanks for posting!

  • Great Production

    Thanks for sharing

  • ok i posted the last comment before this one. I am not pretty in black actually screen name penix1972 I don't know why it came across as such. I think the restoration project is great it can be such a beautiful place !

  • I see all comments of black, white, etc. I am white actually kinda redneck at that. I lived on Newton ST. Yuppers right next door to the station. I agree it is a not so good area. Not too many blacks were on that street either, right before I moved outta state, my neighbor who was white w/ a crack habbit broke into my car n stole my radio, then had the gutts enough a few weeks later try to sell it back to me. So it is not a racial thing it's people with bad habbits that make a area bad.

  • found it! man, what a shame. who knows, may b mass public transit will make a comeback in this country & we'll start using places like this again.

  • lamp = good

  • I love lamp.

  • Indeed, yes you do. hmm

  • Black people are the ones that Ruined Buffalo. They are the ones that pretty much destroyed the Train Terminal. I have NO respect for Any Blacks living in Buffalo. They are Useless as far as I'm concerned. They Don't care aboy the city they live in so why should I care about them

  • Actually that statement isn't true. when the second owner purchased the terminal he didn't do anything with it therefore the terminal went to waste, blacks didn't move in the neighborhood until the 80"s the terminal shut down in the early 70's. And honestly blacks had nothing to do with the terminal being the way that it is now. F.Y.I the guy who bought it after the first owner died was WHITE, he took the money and ran, and left it to rot. Get your facts straight!

  • Yes My statement IS True. Take a Ride through Buffalo and then take a ride through Lancaster, Alden, West Seneca, Elma...etc. Notice How nice those towns look compared to Buffalo. There is One Big Reason for that. 98% Whiet people living there. White people Don't destroy things. White people Don't do Graffiti. I'm a delivery driver and I hate going into Buffalo. Sometimes I give my boss money to give me a different route because of it. Buffalo is a scary place.

  • yes, i can agree, i go to school in the city, so i get it, the problem is, there is a difference between fact, and racism, and it's hard to say things like that in America, but i must agree with you.

  • Exactly. I am Not Racist. Well actually yes I am when it comes to Terrorists and Losers. I grew up in the suburbs of Buffalo and I know what I am talking about when I say that Black people have NO respect for Other peoples property. I wouldn't live in Buffalo even if you paid me to. I've seen Many cities over the past few years and I would have to say that Buffalo is probably the Worst I've seen.

  • I work with ignorant white people but im not a racist. I grew up in the suburbs of Amherst, All of my friends are white. I've been mistreated but that doesn't mean im going to hate them. Bush jacked up an entire country for 8 years...and what color is he? Thats why the country is in the mess it's in. But i can't tell you how to feel, you just need to open your eyes more and stop focusing on blacks so much. Because no matter how much you hate blacks, we're not thinking about hating you.

  • I know,kind of an obnoxious discussion.

  • I do NOT "Hate" Black people at all. In fact, I have Many Black friends. I actually get along better with Black people but I think the black people that I do know are the ones that were blessed with Brains and Respect.

  • ahem... people r supposed to b all one group not making one group blacks one group white and another mexican ect. so dont 'label' ppl in wat group or religion they r

  • NO White people live anywhere near the old Train Station. Only Blacks. If White people lived there, the Station would probably still be in use and be in Alot better condition.

  • whats the difference between white and blacks, NOTHING. even if white ppl still lived there itll still b a dump its not because of blacks its bkuz it just later and later in the years that it got less populated, only color is different between ppl not blacks r all bad and whites r good, were ALL DIFFERENT, but watevr its ur opinion u can b racist you'll just b hated by some ppl

  • So, if Blacks are Not all that bad, why are the Only people that live in High Crime areas Black? Take a ride down Broadway, Walden, Genesee, Filmore, William, Bailey in Buffalo....etc and tell me how many White people you see there. Also check out the Crime rate in that area. Then take a ride out to Lancater, Alden, West Seneca, Elma....etc and tell me how many Black people you see and check out the Crime Rate there also. I rest my Case

  • yeah i live in that area, its my favorite place ive lived, theres just as many white ppl that commit crimes, thats just how theyre raised, the color of skin does not change a person personalitly. :)

  • I have NOTHING against Black people. As a matter of Fact, I have Had Black Girlfriends and I am White. I actually Prefer Black Girls. You just Don't see High Crime areas of Only White people. If a part of town is real bad, there must be Mexicans or Black people living there. Mexicans and Blacks are Quiet when they live in a town that is dominated by White people. Those are the "Good" Blacks. They want a Normal Nice life just like we do.

  • just bkuz u had a black gf doesnt mean u dnt respect them, and now ur bringing mexicans in this? how bad r u? and so if its a bad part of town who cares if different ppl r living there it DOESNT MATTER wat color they r. but i dont have time for ya buh bye :)

  • hey tell me were the whites are at here in buffalo...cus i need to get me a hot white chick...cus all i see here in da west side and in the east side is nasty black chicks...im not racist i just dont find black chicks attractive

  • ..dude.....wtf........

  • @OUTRAGIOUSSWAGGA ik lol wtf

  • @OUTRAGIOUSSWAGGA Go to north or south buffalo.Or go to the south towns,or north towns.Try mckinley mall in hamburg!

  • @Newport1974 I am truly disgraced by your attitude towards African Americans. You are truly disrespectful. I read what you said off to my 12 year old cousin, and even he knows what you said was wrong. It's not a race that affects the area, it's the personality of the people and the habits they have. If you live in a low income neighborhood, there's likely to be more crime. It's just how it is. Unfortunately, we have a high number of African Americans living in those neighborhoods.

  • @Newport1974 On top of that, the damage done in the Terminal was due to bad ownership. Thomas Telesco, who bought the Terminal after the ownership of Tony Fedele was a looter who sold everything in the Terminal. The majority of the damage after that was due to weather. Of course there were vandals, but I'd have to say it was a draw between all races that did most of the vandalism. And of course you're scared of the city of Buffalo. You're from suburbia.

  • @Newport1974 So get real. It's not as bad as you make it out to be, paying your boss to make a delivery because you're too scared to do so. What a shame. Also, get your facts straight before you go blaming people, because it just looks really bad on you.

  • @vivaldifanafb Hey there Mr. Knowitall, first off I live really close to the Terminal. About FIVE minutes away on the other side of Bailey in the LoveJoy area. I grew up in Lancaster, Depew, Alden. I have relatives that live in the now Bad parts of Buffalo. They have been there for over 60 years. Back in those days the area was great. Not many Blacks in Buffalo 60+ years ago. I don't care what you say or how you defend Blacks, they are the ones that Ruined Buffalo........

  • @Newport1974 Blacks are Drug Using Destructive Thugs. They care about NOTHING! The Terminal was Abandoned because of the Blacks that moved into the area. When I was younger I used to go to the Bing Hall across the street from the Terminal with my Mother and her sisters. So Don't come on here and try to tell me what is what. I already know what the issue is. I send E-mails to Town Hall all the time to crack down on the SCUM and raise rent so they have to go back to Africa.

  • @Newport1974 Well isn't that fantastic for you. You got over your fear and moved into the city! Fantastic! The area was great, then people started moving out and it turned into a low income neighborhood. Properties stopped being owned and were rented out. You can't place the blame of the condition Buffalo is in on a racial demographic. You just can't. I don't care what you say. Also, I do not know everything, far from it, but I know about the issue at hand and do not go blaming people for it.

  • @vivaldifanafb So if it has Nothing to do with all the "Monkeys" that live in the area, WHY is Lancaster, Alden, Amherst, West Seneca, Elma, East Aurora...etc, Not in bad condition like Buffalo??? Hmmm? Could it be because there are NO "Monkeys" living there? Africa looks like Crap so do you really think they are gonna come here and treat it any different???

  • @Newport1974 YOU'RE A FUCKING RACIST. You tell yourself you aren't because you have "Black friends", had a "Black girlfriend", and prefer "Black girls" does not prove otherwise. What kind of dick are you? Lancaster, Alden, Amherst, West Seneca, Elma, East Aurora, etc. aren't urban areas so their condition is not a valid comparison at all. And also, a good majority of the African American's ancestors were forcibly brought to the United States via the slave trade.

  • @Newport1974 Also, in your previous comments, you stated that you would never live in the city of Buffalo and now you currently live in Lovejoy, one of the neighborhoods that's turning for the worst. And, Your Grammar Is Really Bad, Please Stop Capitalizing Random Words. Thanks. I am shocked that you would use that kind terminology to refer to any group of people, you said something worse than the "N" word, which is revolting. You're 35 years old, you need a life.

  • @vivaldifanafb Actually I'll be 37 in two months. I also Do Not consider myself to be living in the City of Buffalo. Lovejoy is Not a bad area. It's actually quieter here than in Depew. The Reason for random Capitalizing is to put Emphasis into that word. If you Don't like it, too bad. I am Me and Nobody will ever change that.

  • @Newport1974 Lovejoy=Buffalo

  • @Newport1974 so if you dont hate black people, u like the majority of dumb and disrespectful blacks?

  • buffalo is rich in history if nothing else thanks for making this

  • what do you expect it to look like?! its in the middle of a nigger section! they destroy everything over there!

  • sad but true, though I DO NOT agree with your choice of wording

  • sorry, but unfortunetly I grew up in that neighborhood and know first hand that "their" wording towards us is far worse than mine.

  • Yeah, i got to school in the city, i know, believe me

  • Reminds me a bit of Chernobyl..a place frozen in time yet the earth is reclaiming the entire area. There are videos on here you should check out. They say the sarcophagus (stone coffin) is falling apart and if an earthquake ever hits that area, the world is in trouble.

  • At 1:20 it looks like ghosts walking out past the gates.

  • Great video ... thx. It was very sad to see the Buffalo knocked down.

  • great video.

  • agreed, you should help out! it is an amazing place to be!

  • very nice video it is good the buffalo is trying to restore the old station. I know that in lockport there is a central station but it is burnt down. According to the Lockport paper the city of lockport was going to build it up for historic purpores but nothing was done about it. It is no bad that no one cares about how history.

  • absolutely

  • whats the title of this song by gorillaz?

  • El manana

  • i hate this we need to do something about this

  • damn the automobile.

  • good video. the music fits

  • no just taken by visiters

  • So are those timestamps from security cameras placed throughout the building?

  • where have i seen these picts before? hmmmm....
