@HoldElevatorBro Just a stock Futaba 10CG 2.4ghz FASST radio and stock receiver. You only get around 1 mile range with the stock radio setup, so now I'm using the Dragon Link LRS from Dragon Labs.
@eastcoast78 For this video I was using Futaba 2.4Ghz FASST. Now, I'm using Dragon Link (long range system) which connects to the back of my Futaba radio, and handles all of the Tx needs. Also, in the plane I've installed the Dragon Link Rx. Check them out on Dragon Labs . com
Also, Check out some of my recent videos where I've added a Pan/Tilt camera setup!
@RCerChuck Wow...it took me a while to look through my music collection to find the songs, but I got them:)
The first Song is "Here Comes the Sun" by Skysurfer. The second song is, "Needed Moonlight" by Kid Coconutz. They are from a compilation album, "Ibiza Chillout Top 50" that I downloaded from Amazon mp3 site.
I will add the description above, just under my video.
Wow, Tranquil music and like it much, was it on here awhile back, June 2011? Still working on my set up and will have it soon up and running. Thanks again. RCerChuck
@itakeyouthere Hello, like I mentioned in the reply before it will be much easier for you to hop on over to readymaderc . com and you can find everything over there. If you have any questions then click on the contact us tab, and Tim will respond back ASAP. Unless he's off for the 4th of July weekend with his family. Also try rcgroups . com ... be sure to register and check out the FPV section; everything I learned was/is from there:) Hope this Helps!
@itakeyouthere I'll always do my best to help anybody out, so the best thing I can come up with is for you to go to my favorite website, "ReadyMadeRC . com" and check out the GoProHD, and then the cables you'll need to get everything going. I'm not trying to take the easy way out here, it's just going to be easier for you and much quicker too. Tim is who will receive any questions by email if you click on the contact us tab, and be sure to tell him realtvnow sent you:)
is there a way to power both the tx and camera without that additional battery? cause i cain't seem to get my radian as high as i want it without draining the main battery
@yke90 Sorry for the delayed answer. Yes, you can power the entire system on one battery. You only need to match the voltage of your equipment. I use a separate battery just so I don't have to figure out how to isolate noise/interference.
@exmarkmetroguy I sent you a message on your channel, because youtube wouldn't let me put links in this part of replys to comments on my videos. So, go and look for a message to your channel from me.
@coolvid679 At the time it was Stock Futaba 10CAG 2.4 FASST System. Range is a little over a mile in ideal conditions. I've routinely suffered lock-out because of range issues...definitely doesn't like when you fly close to the ground while out over half a mile. I've got a LRS system ordered from Dragon Link, and I'm looking forward to its arrival. Hope this helps!
@yke90 At the time of this video I was using the stock antennas on the R/C radio gear, and for video a flat patch on my ground station with the stock antenna on the video transmitter.
I just got radian pro and I am thinking about setting up my FPV. Its pretty packed, mind if u can show a picture or something that would guide me? And what battery did u use? Myne came with the stock battery 1300 mAh.
@yke90 The stock antenna will work, but there are other antennas which will offer better range/picture quality, so try looking at the store where you purchased it from and see if they offer any other antennas for 900mhz which will improve the gain. Hope this helps! Don
So if I'm right, you downlink the video feed of the gopro in normal def (still widescreen? because that is a big advantage over the much used sony ccd's) and you can still record on 720p at the same time? I'm looking to make an fpv system as well, it looks soooo amazing! :p
could you make a video on how to hook up the fpv system, i just got mines and i can't get it to work right. by the way i have the Basic FPV Starter Package
@turdsurfer Thanks for the compliment! Well, if you're looking to eventually put in an auto-pilot system, it will be easier for that to level the plane if the plane has ailerons, so perhaps if you select one with them it will be easier.
I bought the Radian a few weeks ago. I mounted my GoPro similar to how you did it, but slightly offset to the side on a piece of plywood so that the lens is above the fuselage center line. You can see how in one of my video's. Unfortunately a gust of wind caused me to park it on a cliff face, so I'll probably be getting a Radian Pro and adding FPV equipment to it (Scherrer UHF and 1.3 or 2.4ghz A/V) this time. I had some good thermal flights (330m up) with the GoPro attached.
@turdsurfer Wow, on a cliff face!!! Losing a plane, and gear is par for the course in FPV (unfortunately)...doesn't seem to be any way around that. I like to call it an offering to the FPV Gods:) Good Luck with the Radian Pro, it's a very nice plane.
Outstanding, I am so stoked tomorrow I will be flying my Radian Pro for the first time. I can't wait to start making Video's with my plane. I have 2 Go Pro's and a Venom Snake Eye camera. Your video was fantastic, nice smooth control inputs very cool.
I have the exact same camera, and i just made a video with it on the exact same plane, but my video came out a little yellow, could you take a look and tell me what you might think be causing it?
@RCDarren Yeah, I just watched your video (nice by the way) and I'm not certain why it gets a little yellow in some of the shots. It seems like the white balance is off a little, maybe you can call Go Pro or Google the problem and see if anyone else is experiencing the same issue. Good Luck and can't wait to see more videos:)
How does the GoPro HD transmitted output translate to your video goggles in terms of resolution and so on? Does it look better because the signal is HD or does it not actually output a HD signal to begin with?
FPV flying has always stopped me because the live feed is usually very low-res and there's the obvious issue of the currently best gear being illegal to use where I live. :p
@PHeMoX The Go Pro HD records in HD and outputs in Standard Def. for FPV. I don't think the standard def output, necessarily, looks any better because of the Go Pro being a HD camera. Hope this helps, thanks!
I know the video goggles you'd use would need to support any higher resolutions you would feed into it also to benefit from any higher resolutions it might output, but I was wondering if it would matter using such a camera.
I guess it won't improve the real-time video quality then, because it doesn't output HD through the (I'd assume) analogue outputs and you'd need video goggles that support HD. Does that sound about right to you? :-)
@PHeMoX The Head Play goggles support HD video, but the video signal received from the plane is standard def. The problem right now is HD broadcasting from your airplane is basically impossible - for now - because the price and weight of HD video transmitting equipment is way too high.
@realtvnow True for sure, but flying FPV obviously will be expensive the higher quality you'd want it to be anyway. I agree though, seems out of the question for now.
It looks super difficult to get everything up and running and i am kinda of new to the whole rc airplane thing but you just inspired me to do what you did as an end goal! wearing those goggle and flying first person feels much much more comfortable for me so thats something to look forward too!
@KrakPoT13 It will blow your mind, it's amazing:) Best piece of advice I can give: Once you get your FPV setup completed and go for your maiden flight, have someone watch through your goggles as you fly normally (not through the goggles). After the flight ask them how much video interference they noticed, or any dropped video signal, and for how long. Don't fly via the goggles until you are certain the video signal is reliable. I lost my first plane because I didn't do this. Have Fun!
@KrakPoT13 One last thing, join rcgroups . com forums. There's a whole section devoted to FPV, and if you read enough of the threads you'll gain a lot of knowledge.
