  • huh 0_o

  • how do get the wobble u make in the thor onto the track plz help

  • nice rack

  • nice tut, it's funny how freaking popular this sound is today :) I love how the whole wobble boils down to lfo tempo. well done

  • nice sounds, check my tracks on my channel see what u think

  • THX mate

  • I know probably no one will read this, but I make dubstep on reason, and I'm trying to get critique and feedback for my music.

If anyone at all could go to my channel and provide some feedback, that'd mean the world to me :]]

    Cheers

  • Dude which button (in the keyboard) with i can hear that sound??:SS

  • wich program you use ???

  • @cioclunicolae check the title "REASON 4"... he's using Reason 4

  • to use this program it is necessary to have a synthesizer ???

  • @NuMeTaL0 its not like a requirement, you can just draw the patterns using ur mouse only but i would highly recommend a keyboard yeah.

  • @R0unc3 if I have no keyboard I use the program how to make music

  • @NuMeTaL0 well i think the same applies as with any other software; it might be annoying for you to draw the note patterns, cuz as for me, i dont use samples.

if you prefer using samples anyway then its not that big of an issue, although u will need/want a little additional software called Propellerhead Recycle then.

  • Im not sure but is this software called, propepperhead reason 4.0 music production?

  • @distortedcreation yes it is ;)

  • nice !

    soundcloud : junior-36 =)

  • I'm confused i connect the LFO to the Email?

  • To create the kick is a dark art.

  • If you're thinking about making legit synth kicks with the reason loadout I suggest using the digital oscillators on the thor as they seem to work best (i.e phase mod or Fm sine waves.) This happends to do with some kind of sync issue I have yet to figure out with the traditional analog waves. maybe I should sinc an empty slot and try idk. gl reason users .. reason is hard

  • Man, that was awesome, thanks for the tutorial, works like a frickin charm!

  • hey man, tutorial was great, but im having alot of troubles trying to get mine to sound as fell as yours. not sure what to do, ive been messing around with it for a short time now, but my bass tones just arent as deep and dirty as yours.... ideas?

  • I forgot to read the tutorial because the music was too awesome

  • im not getting sound when i do this. am i missing something? am i supposed to load something into the deck or what?

  • thx man

  • Way too fast man I got it but it took alot of pausing. Take time to explain.

  • i dont get it

  • Is there a way to connect the LFO adjustment nob to the modwheel on my keyboard so I can modify the frequency as I'm playing?

  • @Diamondn1234 Yeah patch at the bottom of the thor console set source to mod wheel and destination to LFO Rate

  • there seems uppermost

  • at around 0:50 you start changing octaves, how is this done? keyboard?

  • @W0Wman1 pressing z and x

  • /watch?v=VaTK_kbWf5I

  • Thank you :)

  • So now we know why he likes the buttery biscuit base. Because of 'wobble wobble wobble'!

  • @893165009 Shut up. No one cares. Smileyface.

  • Incredibly informative video bro! the only part i couldn't copy was when you received that email during it but otherwise 10/10!

  • Yet again. Another Terrible Generic wobble synth.

  • i love your freestyle melos <3

  • are you using a keyboard? i dont have one and i would want to make my own kind of dubstep to mess around with

  • @ImmortalZombie6669 You should definately buy one. Go to your local store and buy the cheapest midi keyboard :D

  • @pahblol yea thats what i was i was thinking to! :D

  • well, it was hard to pause every 3 seconds, because you're very routined and fast. but you're very good. i'm glad you'll slow down the next time :D

  • now how do you make the YES OH MY GOSH!

  • @ShopSongs it's a vocal sample.. you can get it from that speed stacking girl... download the video convert it to mp3 and cut it with virtual dj...

  • What was the song in the beginning? loved it...

  • my mac keyboard is my midi controller, hint midikeys :). but ive taught myself almost all the things i know so far, but this has def helped me out. i was going along the lines of the bassline with the nnxt sampler rather than thor. THANKS LOKI, OH AND KEEP UP THE DRUM N BASS MY FRIEND, ITS GREAT! :) yes i said drum n bass even though this is called a "dubstep style" bassline tutorial, loki produces good dnb! i have a more dnb love anyway.

  • @loki1200 This is truly a good tutorial!

I have Reason not for long, but I know the basic things about it. Unfortunately, I don't have a mixer, so I can't use MIDI. My question is: Can I use the Matrix Sequencer for the Thor Polysonic Synthesizer?

Because when I look at the back, I can't find a input/output for the Matrix.

    Thank you!!

  • This can all be done from a midi controller right?

  • @V19torrent LOL that would be a serious midi controller.

  • opening tune is sooooo sick :D

  • I find that for low end bass the Subtractor will give a much more solid sound, but if you then layer it with the more resonant and flexible Thor sounds, such as in this vid or similar, you can adjust until you have a well rounded joint synth. If you then save that set up alone as a template you can whip it out whenever you need it (so to speak)_ just a thought

  • I think Scream 4 was what made Reason usable for the most part. But I didnt have Thor in 3.0, seems like getting bass with Thor is infinitley easier than doing that with subtractor :v

  • Nice...

What song is playing in the background?

  • 4:40 EXACT beginning of "Slats Slats Slats" by Skrillex

  • FOR FUCK SAKE.

    I don't know how I did it.

But my filters work the opposite way.

In other words, I have a double wobble xD.

  • @TiasNL Sounds exciting! lol

Anyone know how to preview a sound you're making without having to click the mini-keyboard thing?

I'm using a normal keyboard and not a MIDI one, i swear i knew how to before...

  • great vid nice work and bass a100

  • Ugh headache >.<

  • "email!" lol

  • ther sound that people hear on here is heavily compressed by youtube so the video could play smoother and unforunately he doesnt have full hd =( still very informative. and for those whose sound doesnt sound identical, fiddle with it some more. make it your own.

  • Bufffff, But man, I do the same that u, but it dsnt sound like yours =_= What the fuck im doing wrong?

  • @SomosToCabronesCrew Are you making sure to initialize your thor patch before you begin anything?

  • awesome this helped a ton

  • Great tutorial, seriously. I'm new to all of this and I've got it down. Seems like a great jumping off point. Thanks loki.

  • great tutorial just used this wobble in a track ive just finished its in the video responses its called storm cloud check it out. thanks again loki great vids

  • Now that's what I'm f'n talkn bout! Nice man!

  • 49 viewers are FL noobs who steal massive patches and fake dub

My favorite tut so far on dub. My other favorites are the ones that show you how to do it in operator and simpler and analog! Only tut that got me a sound i could actually use before spending hours afterwards!

(p.s. FL is capable of amazing stuff, just that its the first thing kids try)

  • I dunno about every1 else but I found this much more useful than most tutorials on here because if you pay close attention you can understand how to produce several different types of dubstep bass types using variations on your tape distortion and your thor frequency/chorus settings... this has helped me loads! for those of you who are complaining it is to hard to follow, not to be a dick but pause it more often or something--producing sound isn't easy, otherwise everyone would do it. details!

  • do you need a keyboard to do this? :O

  • all that for just the wobble O,o ?

  • @qorqeli what did you think :)

  • please teach us how to do a real trance bass like armin van buuren and others that would be really appreciated :))

  • how do you play the starting note, like, the braaa brooo right when you start creating it, i press space and no noise comes out.

  • And now everyone is going to create wobly stuff! LOL

  • thanks for getting me started

  • god damn that tune at the start is so bangin, nice man

  • im a lazy breakcore producer from the UK. may i have the reason combo file?....plz

  • Followe it start to finish, thanks mate this is a really great sound!

  • What song is playing in the background?

  • Nice video. I discovered a trick or two so it was well worth watching. I don't see why people complain about having to read it... when you read something it's burned into your memory better than when you listen to someone talk.

  • Nice Tut, best ive found!! Thumb up

  • im so glad i bought a MIDI makes life a MILLION BILLION times easier :))))

  • Great vid! It was very easy to follow. Straight to the point, not a vid full of useless steps!!!

    Great job!!!

  • hey.. the intro song is yours??? is amazing!!!

  • Check out my first dubstep track, made wit reason 4!

  • he was clipping reason overall output was too loud

  • were the hell do u get this computerized qupidment? is it a download or what???

  • By the end of this I was beginning to wonder if he even new what he was doing? Nice synth man but tutorial needs improving a little, I've used reason for a good year or two now and I still felt it to be a little hard to follow

  • @realdanman I did have a plan for this patch before I started, believe it or not.

Sorry you found it hard to follow. Gonna start talking through everything into a mic from now on I think.

  • @loki1200 ha ha it's alright man, I've gotten used to people on youtube always replying back with something along the lines of 'fuck you dick head don't watch it then' so its refreshing to see someone reply sanely lol

mic would be good yeah! keep it up tho, the synth sounds ace no doubt

  • @loki1200 The reason why it seems difficult to follow is because you arent following a script or anything you seem to be intuitively trying out things. Keep up the good work this is a lot better than sugar coated perfectly presented tuts that do nothing to teach you anything new

  • @loki1200 i think it was easy to follow you. i mean for what is the stop button etc and i think often if somebody explain something it gets on my nerves

  • @loki1200 Hey dude. Nice tut. I was wondering how do you record your audio, and using which software? Do you just play the sound on a speaker, and then use your mike to capture the audio? Or does some software support recording the audio output of your desktop as input for the audio itself? Thanks!

  • @vetiarvind If you are using reason (this tutorial is about software called reason), on the menu click FILE, then EXPORT AUDIO TRACK, and you will figure it out

  • @realdanman This is really just how the creative process goes in Reason. Spending hours just dicking around with turning a button on or off and then going back and fixing it because it won't sit right then loading an old patch anyways later. Discipline is essential with this program.

  • @realdanman pause button, man.

  • I need to learn how to make some filthy sounding dubstep bass for a project I'm working on (doom + stoner + shoegazing + dubstep). I've spent a lot of time looking at tutorials like these and this is one of my favorites so far.

  • While so many tutorials are vague and hard to follow, this one did the job well!

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH I've been looking for a dubstep synth like this one for the longest time

  • i am just getting back in to reason when i have made my own patch and save it how do i save the eq's screams with the thor synthesiser ??

  • @dissoloute so you wanna save everything attached to your synth? if u used a combinator for them then just save that.

  • Can you save the patch and share it with us? ^^ I'd appreciate that a lot.

  • Thank you for a tutorial that made sense. I got great results!

  • what drum kit are you using?!?!

  • Cool vid thanks!

  • Do you need a keyboard to do that

  • @Suck3it It helps

  • 3:20 is goregous

  • you sir, just made my life 76803 times better :)

  • great video!! well done!! found it very helpfull

  • nice tutorial mate been useing reason since its incarnation but used to have bass synths so ive been struggling to acheive that kind of bass. im ganna copy that patch then create lots of variations to it and save off each one then combine them and mono them off from each other. ganna do it on the keyboard mapping ;)

  • You're a Reason talent mate. Your Drum & Bass is phat. Think I'm gonna use this style of synth in a D&B tune. Big ups!

  • Thx Yo! I needed that! i love making music.. and i want to become a good representation of a dubstep producer one day...

  • i can't even express how thankful i am you made this video. i've been attempting to create dubstep sounds for the longest time and you've finally shown me the light. not to mention a better understanding of all the components and such.

    eternally grateful!

  • dub-step is fuckin evil...nice drum-line within the first 15 secs...:)

  • holy shit dood u r a DUBSTEP GOD!

  • I've been working on a ton of stuff on reason. Mainly dubstep.

    I looooooove Dubstep :]

  • What's that playing from 00:00 to 00:15?

I'd like to hear the rest of it...

  • Oh shit, How very Borgore-esque.

  • does anyone know how to make ABSYNTH 5 work with reason4?

  • Great tut. Thank very much for posting!

  • thanks but soo hard to see! I cannot get more wah sound!?!?!?! I have done the whole thing/

  • best tutorial, even for beginners

    thank you so much

  • that low octave dirty synth sounds just like the song slats slats slats by skrillex

  • question, where do you get your drums?

  • Comment removed

  • Mental Tutorial.

  • Awesome!

  • @loki1200 please could i have an .rns file

  • just a suggestion for future tutorials - try going a bit slower, and zooming in on areas if you can, as my screen is set to 1440x900, and is hard to make out details with the vid at 480

  • thats killing me

  • When you mess around with the LFO1 Rate, changing the rate of the wobble, how do you copy that rate change to the track?

  • @Piranhudao by using the automation option when u right click on ne knob

  • Thanks so much, i wouldnt have a clue if it wasnt for this video!

    cheers! :)

  • <3

  • Is it possible to play notes with just a computer keyboard?

  • @andpartywithevan With reason 5 it is:) But not with reason 4:(

  • @andpartywithevan yeah click on the window tab and then click "Show on-screen keyboard"

  • Hey could you possiblely upload the rns file to somewhere and post a link please? Thanks :)

  • Quick question, how is it that your able to play the sound your making while still messing with the knobs and switches? i have to bring up the keyboard every time i want to check my sound noise, and its a pain in the ass haha. please help

  • @BananaTericadaPie I use a midi keyboard to play on while changing settings in reason. I probably should have said so in the video :/

  • @loki1200 Credit to you for showing us noobs how to make decent baselines :). No bullshit just pure talent tutorial. Thank you

  • @loki1200 holy shit man you're afucking pro! and don't try to say anything else! where can i get your songs??

  • @BananaTericadaPie

you could loop a small arrangement in the sequencer and leave it playing as you adjust the settings!

  • @BananaTericadaPie

DEFINITELY get yourself a midi keyboard as opposed to bome's mouse keyboard. You can find smal ones pretty cheap, and it's MUCH easier to use. you can mess around with knobs in the program and on the keyboard while you play notes.

  • @BananaTericadaPie

press F4, and now you can use your keyboard as midikey board

  • Comment removed

  • @BananaTericadaPie im not a reason expert but you can edit a midi sequence (lane). Then you activate the loop play mode and press play. it'll play the bass pattern and let you mess with the knobs.

  • @BananaTericadaPie You can draw in a single note and have it on loop while you change the settings :)

  • @BananaTericadaPie just press F4 and you can use your keyboard :)

  • @kobebryant19961 YES!!! thanks for that :DDDDDDD

  • Can I download the track at the beginning? Sounds great!

  • There is some crazy noise trough the bass and I cant maage to get it out of it. I tried alot. Any help?

  • Thanks mate - Any chance of a tutorial on LFO automation?:)

  • @TherealHBomb PM me and i can tell ya, loki wont reply lol ^^

  • great man,thanks,make some more

  • är du svensk? how did you get the program? is it for windows and is it easy, plz answer

    tack så mycket XD

  • Thanks for this it helped me a lot.

  • thanks a lot for the video

  • when tht email sound went off i spazzed like crazy lol

  • damn it... i thought i had an email

  • @jasonmudge789 as long az it sounds good, who cares

  • HAHA!!! E-MAIL!! lol

  • Definately worth routing the mod wheel to LFO rate 1. The mod wheel comes under 'Performance' in the routing menu. I found about 60 was a good amount.

    Great tute btw.

  • Can I get some feedback on some of my tunes???

    /watch?v=J96GAEJI-8M

  • hi, I'm new to reason, and I open the combinater and thor, but I don't hear any sound like 0:17. How can I get that sound? Just nothing happends with me lol

  • hey man, awesome tutorial, but do you know how i could slow down the 'wub wubs' they're going real fast haha
