@NuMeTaL0 well i think the same applies as with any other software; it might be annoying for you to draw the note patterns, cuz as for me, i dont use samples.

if you prefer using samples anyway then its not that big of an issue, although u will need/want a little additional software called Propellerhead Recycle then.

To create the kick is a dark art.

If you're thinking about making legit synth kicks with the reason loadout I suggest using the digital oscillators on the thor as they seem to work best (i.e phase mod or Fm sine waves.) This happends to do with some kind of sync issue I have yet to figure out with the traditional analog waves. maybe I should sinc an empty slot and try idk. gl reason users .. reason is hard

my mac keyboard is my midi controller, hint midikeys :). but ive taught myself almost all the things i know so far, but this has def helped me out. i was going along the lines of the bassline with the nnxt sampler rather than thor. THANKS LOKI, OH AND KEEP UP THE DRUM N BASS MY FRIEND, ITS GREAT! :) yes i said drum n bass even though this is called a "dubstep style" bassline tutorial, loki produces good dnb! i have a more dnb love anyway.

I find that for low end bass the Subtractor will give a much more solid sound, but if you then layer it with the more resonant and flexible Thor sounds, such as in this vid or similar, you can adjust until you have a well rounded joint synth. If you then save that set up alone as a template you can whip it out whenever you need it (so to speak)_ just a thought

I think Scream 4 was what made Reason usable for the most part. But I didnt have Thor in 3.0, seems like getting bass with Thor is infinitley easier than doing that with subtractor :v

My favorite tut so far on dub. My other favorites are the ones that show you how to do it in operator and simpler and analog! Only tut that got me a sound i could actually use before spending hours afterwards!

I dunno about every1 else but I found this much more useful than most tutorials on here because if you pay close attention you can understand how to produce several different types of dubstep bass types using variations on your tape distortion and your thor frequency/chorus settings... this has helped me loads! for those of you who are complaining it is to hard to follow, not to be a dick but pause it more often or something--producing sound isn't easy, otherwise everyone would do it. details!

DEFINITELY get yourself a midi keyboard as opposed to bome's mouse keyboard. You can find smal ones pretty cheap, and it's MUCH easier to use. you can mess around with knobs in the program and on the keyboard while you play notes.

@BananaTericadaPie im not a reason expert but you can edit a midi sequence (lane). Then you activate the loop play mode and press play. it'll play the bass pattern and let you mess with the knobs.

Definately worth routing the mod wheel to LFO rate 1. The mod wheel comes under 'Performance' in the routing menu. I found about 60 was a good amount.
