I seen Budgie at Leeds when they were supporting Ozzy, they were brilliant, what a warm up to the main show...... Crowd were jumping that much i lost one of my shoes lol
Burke Shelley's singing on Parents always reminds me of Shirley Bassey -- no disrespect, she's a great singer. And they both came from Tiger Bay in Cardiff.

Thats the beautiful thing about music, that it touches you in a way like nothing else. You forever will think of your dad everytime this song is played!! Thats awesome!! Budgie Rocks!!!

@rozozzy I think San Antonio gets Budgie because they are more southern/bluesy than most British hard rock bands of the period, not a million miles from early ZZ Top, for example.
I agree my friend!! The crazy thing about Budgie is its a shame that I never met too many people that heard of them yet liked them! I grew up in the N.E Pennsylvania and always wondered years ago who listened to them. Well now I know and its a shame that they didnt come out ten years later with the impact of radio and t.v. etc!!!
First heard them at the Roxy in Northampton and then at Central Catholic High School Gymnasium in Bethlehem, both times excellent. Been a long time, but....still remember it like yesterday. Party on Garth.
You know in Holland they are quite welknown in certain crowds and they are realy popular in Poland for instance and the Baltic States and in Scandinavia too, so maybe they are more welknown in Europe than America, they are at least from Europe, it is a Welsh band.
Me too, but my favourite Budgiesongs are Napleon Bona Part 1&2 and Young is a world, and and and...lol, as I am writing this down I want to mention a lot more, so I will stick to these ones.

I met Burke in a rock disco in Taffs well, in 1980
He was wearing an AC/DC T shirt, and I took him to task over it, saying the early stuff was magical and why did he want to be in a
band that sounded like every other rock band, when they already had a unique sound.
He should've told me to fuck off, but he didn't, he was pretty cool, he even politely refused when I asked for bass lessons, saying he was sorry but was very busy, lol. " Never turn your back on a friend" classic album
Budgie was epic and deserved a wider audience.
