  • Budgie was epic and deserved a wider audience.

  • Love you budgie I'll keep you all my life!

  • funny song

  • funy song

  • Have been a fan for years - I agree the vynal version from the 70's is brilliant. Turn it up and get lost in it for ages. This version is pretty good though. Thank you for sharing

  • awesome guitar, great sound!

  • jednak mozna zagrac cos konkretnego.do zobaczenia w zeszlym roku nie wyszlo...

  • Tbhh this is pure underatted genius, Budgie are really orignial and ahead off there time they should be right up there with all the other amazing 3 peice bannds

  • I seen Budgie at Leeds when they were supporting Ozzy, they were brilliant, what a warm up to the main show...... Crowd were jumping that much i lost one of my shoes lol

    Great show :)

  • This is F....n great, I can listen this song all day long

  • bajeczna muza........

  • w listopadzie będą w polsce juuuuuuhuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Burke Shelley's singing on Parents always reminds me of Shirley Bassey -- no disrespect, she's a great singer. And they both came from Tiger Bay in Cardiff.

    Go figure!!

  • Bylem na koncercie Budgie w Spodku w Katowicach ok.1982 roku.Bylo to wielkie przezycie.Wracajac z kolegami maluchem uwierzylismy ze maluch to "ciche" auto.

  • @volroll Ja wtedy straciłem słuch na 2 dni:}

  • @volroll A ja chciałbym mieć takie przeżycie ...

  • @volroll ciekawe jak by wam poszlo gdybyscie wracali we wartburgu ;-)

  • Can someone tell me how the name pronounced

  • I know who sounds like Budgie. Y&T seemed to borrow their sound.

  • @MrChameleon2010 no they absoloutly did not

  • How do you pronounce this bands name? Bud-Gee, BudJi,? I can't believe I've heard almost all metal bands growing up as a kid in the 70s but don't remember this band. I dig this song a lot. It's a new find for me.

  • Is Budgie still together? Are all the members still alive?

  • One of the best rock tracks ever written, don't care if it's recent.

  • its a recent live..u can hear it from the guitar effects plus the amp sounds more like a jcm model not a plexi marshall

  • Saw'em in 1970something @ the Roxy. Damn, talk about a full circle. WSAN put on the shows at the Roxy in those days. Great to hear Budgie and the Roxy still ROCK

  • Not sure about where the audio is from, but the pics are from a 2007 show at the Roxy Theater in Northampton Pa. Sponsered by FRITZROCKS! at WLVR check out their website A. J. and Budgie does indeed ROCK!!!

  • I grew up with them too..I remember in the 70's Burke mentioning Shirley Bassey and I can finally hear it in his extraordinary voice.

  • used to watch Buggie play in Barry (my home town) Memorial hall in Wales way back in the 70s then in 1973 they realeased never turn your back on a friend just at the same time that my dad died, when i listened to parents for the first time it was as if they were speaking for me. i have alway loved that track and even now when i listen to it, i still get tears in my eyes.

  • Thats the beautiful thing about music, that it touches you in a way like nothing else. You forever will think of your dad everytime this song is played!! Thats awesome!! Budgie Rocks!!!

  • @16ROSCO nice sentements!!!!!

nice post, well done for putting that down in words, must've taken some guts!

  • I WANT MORE, it's such a nice feeling if you're hearing always the studio versions and than afterwards you hear a bootleg man!

    Just like Sabbath bootlegs !

    I love it!

  • This is live....

But from WHEN?!? Sounds like 70's to me...?!

  • Nice version !

  • just amazing.

  • ..GENIALNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love this song!

  • genius!

  • THIS IS THE GEM OFF THE NEVER TURN CD.

  • FUCK YEAH!!!!

  • i can not remember when this came out but we love it in san antonio texas. old age is catching up..

  • hi a nam vet i worked with turned me on to budgie he said if iliked rush i'd like them. he was right.1973it was released.the 1 st cd is titled budgie and squawk was #2 in 72 then the never turn cd.i love the tyre fitter song and why am i spelling tyre like tyre instead of tire. lol cause they did.too much ale.

  • @rozozzy I think San Antonio gets Budgie because they are more southern/bluesy than most British hard rock bands of the period, not a million miles from early ZZ Top, for example.

  • a-ma-zin .

  • This is the best! With all due respect to Breadfan, I have always loved parents more. Thanks for sharing!

  • I agree my friend!! The crazy thing about Budgie is its a shame that I never met too many people that heard of them yet liked them! I grew up in the N.E Pennsylvania and always wondered years ago who listened to them. Well now I know and its a shame that they didnt come out ten years later with the impact of radio and t.v. etc!!!

  • First heard them at the Roxy in Northampton and then at Central Catholic High School Gymnasium in Bethlehem, both times excellent. Been a long time, but....still remember it like yesterday. Party on Garth.

  • You know in Holland they are quite welknown in certain crowds and they are realy popular in Poland for instance and the Baltic States and in Scandinavia too, so maybe they are more welknown in Europe than America, they are at least from Europe, it is a Welsh band.

  • Me too, but my favourite Budgiesongs are Napleon Bona Part 1&2 and Young is a world, and and and...lol, as I am writing this down I want to mention a lot more, so I will stick to these ones.

  • I WANT this MP3!!

  • Try Limewire, a PTP programma, and just hope someone does have this song to share with you.

There are more PTP programs, I got Breadfan as an MP3 file there. So yo might get lucky.

Sorry to answer after this time, saw you posted this comment 2 months ago, dit see it only now... Have a nice Christmas and a Happy NewYear, greetz from a dutch lady

  • First one was response to wpDM34. Second to Hollie473.

    Sorry for the mess.

  • Totally agree, dude.

  • Tried to see this band many times during late 70's they never turned up, Finely saw them at Wigan Pier in about 1981. They were worth the wait. Love This version of the song, Keep Goin Guys.

  • Thanks for posting this GEM! Your a True Music Lover! and Its not lost on us! We know Budgie, always knew how fucking great they were. Only underated in the view of the "recently born newcomers" Don't worry kids, we don't want what you have!

  • don't be a dick, be a dude.

  • przepiekne,i;m ready to put a bullet in mi head after this song.so long

  • Close to Wishbone... Budgie were popular

    in Sweden !!

  • In Poland too:). And still they are.

  • the best (and only ) good thing out of wales

    real magic

  • i dont know what happended to this band i heard this band when i was a kid love this band is still kicking ass

  • this is a band fuck yeeeeaaa men

  • This band never got the recognition they deserved. One of the best power trio's ever.

  • Awesome!!!!! is that Tony Burge playing 'lead'in some of the pics?

  • yeh tony playin he my uncle he co0ol as fk

  • zajebiste !

  • Fantastic post. It's great to see so many clips of the guys.

I was going to write PARENTS is my favourite Budgie song but then I remembered Crash Course, Baby Please Don't Go, Breadfan, Rocking Man,In For The Kill, Zoom Club, Black Velvet Stallion, Napoleon... the list just goes on and on. So many great songs from the world's best 3 piece rock outfit ever.

  • @ajaycee98 Steady on there....The Jimi Hendrix Experience? Cream?

    Gleaming band though.

  • super kawałek

  • quality music people.. DANKA DUKRISPA.

while on the subject of BUDGIE and quality music any chance of anyone uploading "young is a world"????

  • PARENTS !!! One of the MASTERPIECES of Rock !!! BUDGIE is the most underrated band of ALL time !

We are Very Lucky ,listening to this version in youtube . Thanks a lot !!!

  • where is this version from? i like it.

  • Cudo poprostu cudowne!!!!!!!!!

  • does noone hear the drummer dragging? My god, people will latch on to anything. Oh my god it's excrutiating. The worlds only rythmless drummer. amazing.

  • You have to go back and listen to the original versions from the 70's. This live version isn't a patch on the original vinyl. One for hardcore fans only.

  • @ajaycee98 It's not bad though, they're cheating because there's two guitars in this one.

  • @TheVidkid67 It's called overdubs, most bands do it in the studio

  • @stashyjon I fucking know that, what do you think I've been doing for the last 20 years!!!

  • @TheVidkid67 not developing a sense of humour obviously

  • @stashyjon Sorry mate, I'm really stressed at the moment, no offence.

  • @TheVidkid67 worries mate we all get that way

  • @bagumbax Not a stellar performance at the beginning but he catches up as it progresses.

Anyway, it's the song that matters.

And it certainly isn't Philips or Pete Boot.

  • Zdecydowanie jeden z najbardziej niedocenionych zespołów w historii rocka. A przeciez "Never Turn Your Back On a Friend" to płyta, która powinno sie stawiać obok takich klasyków jak "Machine Head" Purpli czy "IV" Zeppelinów.

Pozdrawiam.

  • to hard rock

  • kocham ich muzę

  • tojest dusz muzykipzdrawiam fanów budgie ja sięprzy niej kocham

  • macie racje nie innej muzy tylko budgie

  • This is absolutely brilliant. I've loved Budgie since I saw them in Cardiff about 30 years ago. It's superb to hear such a good alternative version of a song I have enjoyed for so long.

  • Tea for one, Child in time, Julay morning, Shes gone and Parents to najpiękniejsze utwory wszechczasów,

  • i agree, july morning and child in time are great,bu i think you forgot stairway to heaven

  • IMPRESIONANT !!!!!!!!!

  • bylem na koncercie w chorzowie.... chce jeszcze raz

  • Parents, my all time Budgie favorite although I enjoy all thier music. Rock on Budgie.

  • Byłem z żoną na koncercie w STODOLE.JA PIERDOLĘ JAKI WYPIERDOL.BRAWO!!!

  • i'm fucking craing too,lol

  • just magic..

does anyone have the one that ends

"Life is only a day" ?? Love these guys + +

  • Thanks for posting, absolutely magical, have been listening for sooo long to this great track.

  • Awesome awesome awesome. Good to see photos of John Thomas, I assume he's playing the second guitar on this?

If you've not explored the music of Budgie further, please do so! Song for song they beat Zeppelin, Rush or anybody. (Just avoid "Deliver Us From Evil").

At the time of writing, Simon Lees has left the band. Will they carry on? Who knows.

    Love them.

  • chords for Parents are identical to Stairs to heaven, who beats who?

  • my earlier comment is refering to budgies tune "parent" to avoid any confusion.

  • im convinced now rich. yip that is quite a tune and now i guess its a train over to liverpool for the cd. i couldnt help thinkin the begining to this tune had a hint of floyds the wall in there. purposly done or just pure inspiration who knows. either way a cool tune. well done fella.

  • Hi, mono14 as this pre dates the Wall by 5 or 6 years, it is possible that floyd pinched some ideas, lol.

Not having a go, I'm a big floyd fan ( saw the wall in Earls court , both years).

This album came out in 1973 and the wall in 79?

  • amazing isnt it that a gem so hidden and obscured from view as budgie is /was, can or could influence minds such as that of floyd. im glad its that way round if it ever was the case. floyd are fantastic but surley had their influences too. a bit like my fave band metallica no doubt HMMM

  • At 47, I get the same chills as I did 25+ years ago when I first heard this song. I'm gonna pull out the Marshall Master Lead Combo, Epiphone Genesis and play this tonight. Wow, the memories associated with this epic are so deep.

  • when is this from is this recent?

  • great...

  • Great song it stay's - but also listen to their newest album - we're all living in Cookooland

  • i grew up with this fantastic

  • Lucky you.Me to

  • Just Love Love the guitar. Love Love Budgie

  • Coś w tym utworze jest, prawda?

W 1974 roku jak zaczął sie kształtować mój gust muzyczny, ten utwór zwrócił moją uwagę na pożyczonej taśmie magnetofonowej, na której były chyba wszystkie gatunki muzyczne, moje uszy wyłowiły właśnie obok Pink Floydów, ten kawałek. Pozdrawiam :)

    MarS

  • ale jednak studyjna wersja 100 razy lepsza

  • Coś w tym utworze jest, prawda?

  • I am going to concert of Budgie 2day :D :D

  • Excellent I Just love that song and the album it comes from and I wasn't even born when it came out....Lynn

I agree with Artyfacto as well

  • Metallica arent fit to breath the same air as these guys .

  • Amen!

  • Budgie circa 1974 Truro Civic Hall with Judas Priest as backup: Burke Shelley sang this song - It made me cry. 30 years later when my Ma & Pa died within two days of each other - I listened to this song endlessly

Certainly helped me through the grief.

  • Burke Shelley has a great voice in this one.

  • Can you stll get budgie, but on c.d. all my stuff went with my ex wife!! saw them years ago at warwick university, brilliant!!!

  • google: budgie budgie You will find their official web page. CD's and other merchandise. Still touring.

  • Thanks for that.

  • i cant believe the difference from when i saw them in 1976 @ cardiff castle

  • Everybody gets older and can't change it. But they are still good like years ago.

  • man, seeing those picture of burke shelly in the 80's piss me off, and it pisses me off that Burke went from a classic rock look to a heavy metal look its just kind of annoying. i love budgie but that that was a stupid move in my opinion.

  • I met Burke in a rock disco in Taffs well, in 1980

He was wearing an AC/DC T shirt, and I took him to task over it, saying the early stuff was magical and why did he want to be in a

band that sounded like every other rock band, when they already had a unique sound.

He should've told me to fuck off, but he didn't, he was pretty cool, he even politely refused when I asked for bass lessons, saying he was sorry but was very busy, lol. " Never turn your back on a friend" classic album
