This was MTV at it's peak. From '86 thru '90 was, to me, when they finally got it. Up till then, they were still learning and tweaking the product. This period is when artist taylored their music to do well on MTV. So many great programs I remember. Headbangers Ball, the interviews, the weekly countdowns with Martha Quinn & Allen Hunter, Nina Blackwood & JJ Jackson (RIP) Now, Wouldn't piss on it if it were on fire. Once "Yo, MTV Raps" took off, so did I.
So all Salt 'n Pepa do is shake the rattles? I was expecting some kind of funky blues-hip-hop-crossover. Gotta love the way everyone is grooving out to the music in the vid though. Ah, the good old days.
Steve wonder and Stevie Ray Vaughn together! AWESOME!!! Would of loved to hear these two together backed by such a a great group in a high quality Studio or live performance. With Jimi Hendrix, BB King, and Eric Clapton. Not asking for much! LoL (< 8)
Jezuz! 4:36 SRV stops it on the One then gets into this pure Funk playing vamp! Dude, Stevie Ray also had the Funk in him! Oh man... too good... I remember that kicking my ass when I first saw it then.
I also love the way Stevie Wonder gets possessed by the groove a little before that!
Brown Mark was the bassist for Prince's The Revolution band of the 80's. You can see Mark's Funk groovin' while playing that bass. I can proudly say I met two people on there and I can't believe they were in the presence of SRV. Wow. This floored me then, still does, what a combination! - Gary
@188metalhead881 Ya, I don't what's worse, having a track when it appears everyone else is playing live, or not even having a drummer in the vid faking it! haha That drums are absent from the picture is just so wrong.
@LT1HILLINGHOE , SRV is a HUGE fan of stevie wonder since primary school, so, it's totally understandable. One who loves good music, loves it all. Good Heavy Metal, good thrash metal, good classical music, good rap, good pop, good rock, good blues, good soul, good trance, good techno, good funk, good alternative, good indie, good country, good grunge, whatever man..... what's good, is good. And someone who knows how to appreciate good music, knows how to appreciate it all, believe me :D
@KevinZag I love good music but no one in this video comes close to Stevie Ray. Metal of any type, rap, techno, trance, indie, grunge, yada yada yada is no where near the good category, believe me. But, thanks for your reply.
@LT1HILLINGHOE ......uh right dude, who's freakin song are they playin???
Unfortunately my man you know not jack about Stevie Wonder......SRV is the man, but isn't even in the same league as Stevie Wonder when it comes to musical influence in America and the world. I love Stevie Ray Vaughn as a musician, guitar player, bluesman...and fellow Texan.........but don't lose sight of reality. If you don't know the history of Stevie Wonder then get a book. You might wanna read before you write.
@wathen004 uh right dude, who doesn't give a rat's ass about who's feakin song they are playing?
I know the history and the "jack" of stevie wonder and it sucks. I don't like his music or his sound. That's my opinion and I realize you probably don't like that, and don't take this wrong...but I don't really care. That's the reality of it. From now on, you might wanna think before you write.
The end.
Got anymore useless information about stevie wonder that you care to share? Hope not.

@don2neptune Dude that bassist is Brown Mark from Prince and the Revolution. He is a beast in his own right. Jody Wattley up there also. Funny video though! Cheers!
This is what can come out, when your dealing with music is "sharing is caring" instead of "I'm sueing your ass away, because you've violated my copyright." .
@ruzzellorenzo No the bass player Is Brown Mark. He is the same bassist from Prince. You can see him in the movie Purple Rain, the only one in the revolution that didnt have a speaking line in the movie. Brown is an incredible bass player and what an honor that must have been to play with The Incredible Mr. Stevie Wonder and The Late Great Mr. Stevie Ray Vaughan.
@ruzzellorenzo Ciao, no il bassista è Mark Brown, che ha suonato in molti album di Prince and the Revolution. Molto famoso nel circolo Motown. Ultra funky.

Gives me a smile wider than the Mersey. AWESOME. The joy on Stevie Wonder's face makes life worth living!

Great show... had a copy of it on disc but lost it. Hopefully some channel will remake it or a collector will make it available online.
