  • Everyone's instrument is hard. Deal with it.

(Piano is harder for this piece)

But Violins have the bach Chaconne, so.........

  • superb, splendid, marvelous

  • SUPERB, SPLENDID!

  • esta es la unica cancion que me hace sentir algo

  • Why make an original song like this your own. I don't like this interpretation!

  • they are equal in technique yet piano is harder as you tend to play multiple parts throughout both hands dealing more requiremental use of the brain's cordination with other muscles and thought overall. but it is the piece thats the ticker, as one piece can be more difficult than another on any given instrument.

  • This video is a major reason why I've come to appreciate classical music. The sounds are strange and raw and moving in the way that many modern musicians strive to acheive. Also I like Rubinstein version. Cheers.

  • I am a violist and a pianist, so I have some idea of the difficulties of both types of playing. Strings are very difficult because of bowings, as well as the difficulties of shifting, fingering etc. However keep in mind that in the piano version of this song the musician is playing about a billion notes at once. The rhythms are insane. Its really, really hard.

They are both crazy tough people! Unless you can play both of them, don't try to say which is harder.

  • Haha, you don't sound like an idiot. Liszt and Paganini knew each other in real life and Paganini originally wrote the piece. Liszt wrote the famous piano arrangement.

  • una muy bella interpretacion de paganini

  • this is great!

  • I want to describe this performance with words like 'excruciating' or 'bone-shattering' but it makes me feel so deeply and dreadfully good that I am afraid to be honest. There is a failure in the English language to capture this phenomenon.

  • People pretending their instrument is harder to master than an other are presumptuous idiots, end of discussion.

  • sry if i sound like an idiot - but isnt this actually Liszt? or did he just transcripe it for piano?

  • @4gs8vh4gs8vh Yes, Liszt's campanella is a beautiful transcription of this piece by Paganini.

  • @4gs8vh4gs8vh This isn't Liszt,he merely used the melody in his 3rd Etude 4 d piano. This song was originally composed by Paganini as his 3rd movement for his 2nd Violin Concerto in B minor...

  • @4gs8vh4gs8vh "La Campanella" was originally writen by Nicolo Paganini, Liszt based on it to compose his "La Campanella" for piano.

  • @4gs8vh4gs8vh I know this is a little late but Paganini composed this on ONE STRING then Liszt being arrogant, tried to make a piece that only he could play lol

  • @4gs8vh4gs8vh Liszt was inspired and paid tribute to Paganini, when Liszt was a boy (roughly 12), he saw Paganini perform and was inspired by his skill. This was Paganini's piece way before it was Liszt's. :) The more you know. :P

  • Che piacere rivederti e risentirti caro Alexandre Dubach...quanto tempo è passato!

  • The Piano and violion should not be compared every intsrument has it's own difficulty and me as a violinist knows that Paganini is not easy

  • Piano is black and white salad... (I use to be a pianist, now Im a violinist) Violin is a lot harder to play cause of the position, piano is harder to read cause you have to read 2 pentagram at the same time... and I love both instruments

  • which one is more difficult ...

to make more with less ...

    or

to make less with more ...

I just know they are equally beautiful.

  • just heard the original version for the 1st time.

i think we SHOULD NOT cmpare these two instruments because they are both very difficult.

some people here say piano is just the fingering --- that is soooo NOT TRUE

  • everyone... it's a concerto... it's supposed to be hard.

it's supposed to show off what the instrumentalists can do.

yes the violin part is extremely difficult.

yes the piano part is extremely difficult.

    that's kinda the point.

    (i am a violinist)

  • It's a fantastic track, but it's very dificult. Unfortunately - I want to play it.. =(

  • i dont think you can justify saying ones harder than the other

ive never tried to play, or even seen or heard, anything harder than the piano version of this, but its obviously ridiculously difficult on the violin as well

you can compare such different instruments, its like making a general statement that one instrument is more tricky than other

  • in 3 weeks our orchestra plays with him... ;)

  • Some people say this has less feeling.I disagree strongly.

  • Virtuosic performance, incredible piece. Overall, great!

  • Hum.... wait. what?

  • min 2:01 is the most amazing piece

  • So inspiring!

    Hermoso!

  • what a fantastic violinist

  • the violinist is accurate and clear but compared to kugan's version he's really slow..

  • Bravo.... Bellisima ejecución. Excelente!

  • sounds more epic on the piano sorry

  • Not much passion.

  • wonderful!

  • DANG!!! Great job.

  • Ohhh man am I happy that I have tracked the legendary Dubach down!!!! I remember listening to this on a local classical station and have NEVER forgotten his name since! Just beautiful stuff, and incredible talent! Bravo!

  • This piece is so damn cool but i much prefer the piano version.

  • touching

  • Wspaniale, love it

  • Es muy bueno, pero curiosamente me resulta mas intima la versión pianistica. Esta versión se me hace mas rígida. Sin embargo es preciosa. Gracias

  • ce l ho invidiate il nostro paganini translate paganini is us is Italian as me

  • Amazing, sounds very good.

  • Fantastic.

  • unbelievably sophisticated

  • So beautiful!

Thank you for posting this video!

    The sound is just perfect!

    Bellissimo!

  • Bella canción

  • NO ES CANCION ES MUSICA Y SI ES MUY BUENA

  • Paganini is the best ever!!! non c'e migliore!!

  • SIX étoiles, ravissement de l'âme, interprétation fantastique ou le bonheur de jouer est éclatant.

  • PAGANINI é DIO

  • bravo ....

    a great composition ....

the technique and sound of the song is really nice and wonderful ...

very nice ... no wonder Liszt transcribe this song into piano work ...

  • Stop arguing and listen to the music.

I came here to listen to Paganini, not Liszt.

  • Molto bello!Complimenti!

  • i've noticed a pattern. If you are REALLY good at playing an instrument, there is a good chance some one might kill you. Paganini was poisoned. Randy Rhoads was died in a plane crash. Dimebag Darrel was shot. And so many more.

  • and how many people have been killed, who dind't play any instrument? Oh...wait...i've noticed a pattern, if you DON'T play any instrument you gonna DIE someday!

  • hahah the difference being

if you're a famous musician, your death is actually noticed as opposed to those who die with no one noticing.

  • LOL at hgyture2347 what a dumbass...and nice psychobilly I would have said the exactly the same I am laughing to tears at how stupid some comments can be here...

  • @psychobilly16011988 i don't play any instrument!!!! D: i don't wanna die!!!

  • @psychobilly16011988 as far as I know, Einstein didn't play any musical instrument, and he still lives. For example, the GPS wouldn't have been possible nowadays without his ecuations of relativity.

  • Paganini wasnt poisoned by someone he needed some medicine that contained mercury poisoning which made him survive longer. He died of throat cancer. And anyway Paganini tried to buy some more time to live. He had syphillis.

  • He really loved to sniff tobacco, it was popular at the time.

  • really?

  • I don't think so.

  • you should get famous

    jk....

  • Is Campanella the name of the song??

  • La Campanella

  • is the 2nd concert for violin of paganini called also campanella

  • Bello solo un pò più veloce sarebbe ancora più bello.

  • es asquerozo

  • In terms of difficulty, Liszt on the piano is like paganini on the violin, and vice versa.

  • Well Liszt sampled Paganini's work on La Campanella, so that only makes sense.Liszt transcribed Paganini's and wrote it for piano, but I see what you are getting at.

  • However, it is not half as difficult for a decent pianist to play it on the piano as it is for a damn good violininst to play it on the fiddle.

  • You ever tried it on piano?

  • ha! have you SEEN the piano score? do you even play piano?

  • what's with everyone and comparing piano and violin? every instrument has certain hardships

  • are u retarded................ the difficult of playing a piano is not even near the the fraction of difficulty compare to violin.

  • he.she is right...

I play piano, you have 5 notes in each hand you can play. You have to master the dynamics, fingering, the use of the pedal!!

Violins are just playing one note, a piano plays up to ten notes and usually plays alone so you cant hear if it screws up!!

  • Violin can play all 4 notes at a time through bowing+left hand pizz.

  • what a lieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • have you ever tried playing paganini on violin?! i'm not saying piano is an easy instrument but you should respect the fact that every instrument has its own difficulty

  • Actually physically playing the piano offers a lot of difficulties playing the violin does not ( i am a violinist ). But in the case of this piece I would then say you are correct. The piano version is much easier because of well seasoned of a violinist it takes to play this piece as the most difficult thing about this on piano is just the fingering which is nothing.

  • @cwxzeng piano and violin are so differnt instruments. no one should try to compare them. strings with piano. you cannot talk about merely "difficulty". Mastering an instrument (everyone) requires difficulty. No one can tell which more. It depends also on the person who play that! Uncomparable!

  • In response to airad2:- I'm a pianist and I'm learning Liszt's arrangement for piano. It's bloody hard and that's no lie. For the violin it looks really easy. But as I don't really have a clue about a violin I'm probably very wrong, and I'm sure I am. I've had the same response from a violinist but the other way round :)

  • amazing!!!!!!!!

  • madre mia!! el primer tutti... es una basura infernal.

  • este video es increible...

  • Sensational!

  • The best!

  • I love this Song

  • I can't play it either.

  • anyone knows what's the highest note the violin can produce? sorry but i'm new to violin so there's still much more for me to learn =)

  • B# is the highest note on the violin no including the harmonics.

    i hope this helps

  • There's no definite answer, but generally speaking, the violin's highest notes are similar to those of the piano. :) Glancing at the sheet music on my stand right now, there's a high A in the intro of Wieniawski's Variations on an Original Theme that is just two whole notes lower than the highest note, C, of a piano. The next note in the piece is a low A, a whole four octaves lower--so the violin can play at least 5 A's. I think there's a high C in the Paganini Concerto #1, same as piano, too.

  • The use of flageolet is awesome!

  • lovely. Thx for uploading it!

  • es bravazo quisiera la partitura

  • lipinski...where are you now....

  • He failed to do the part at 7:30 but this part is really difficult... Cannot blame him... Hahaha... Overall, he is very good...

  • i just have seen a new genius! It seen to be Kleist on violin!Wunderbar

  • great job. i thought you could have been a little more clear to the orchestra especially since it wasnt the best of orchestras .also be careful not to play too off the string. nice style though, gitlis like!

  • yo solo toco los bajos, pero también me encanta esta música

  • Me gusta la interpretación. Bien formulada.

  • i justy play my door bell ....but i love music

  • shhhhh.....quiet...im listening.....any way waht kind of music lover are you....dont respect each others talents

  • Amo questa musica!

  • Well al i gotta say is: WOW!!!

    WELL DONE

  • this piece is harder on the violin although there are very tough piano pieces out there. the spiccato and intonation in this piece is extremely difficult to master.

  • Beautiful, simply beautiful.

  • Liszt's arrangement for the piano is way insaner than this...wait all of Liszt's pieces were insane(ly difficult to play)

  • wat a noob lol.... violin is 10 times harder than piano lol... u think liszt is hard cuz u suck at piano lol... noob dunt talk shit if u duno shit lol

  • YOU have issues course piano is way harder! why dont yew try it?

  • yea it is but y dont u try Liszt's pieces noob? lol dont talk if u dont kno shit about Liszt lol

  • Actually, both instruments have unmeasurable tecnical difficulties, depeneding on the peice. It all depends on the player, so both of you are noobs. You cannot distinguish which instrument is harder by just judging on one peice. Every instrument has its advantages and disadvantages. Intonation on the violin is tougher, and so is fingering, but on piano, you are using 10 fingers, not 5(i don't play violin, so do you use your thumb?), so that alone makes piano just as difficult.

  • You don't use the thumb, so it's 4 fingers. Nevertheless, I can assure you that violin is not simple to play at all.

  • amen to that pianofiend1.

  • No thumb. no.

  • thanks for posting the best comment!

  • It really depends on it what is more difficult. I have been playing the cello for years and if you want to know how hard it is to play a cello I want to reference to you: search: Feuermann Popper. On the cello you have something called thumb position, a real torture, but a Rachmaninov concert will also be a torture probably.

  • Well - something about the difficulties of piano and violin:

    - ok, you need only 4 fingers for the fingerboard, but you also need your right hand for the bowing technique (and thats as hard as the intonation)

    - you need longer to play beautiful tones on the violin

I can't tell what's more difficult. On both instruments you need several years to play harder classical pieces - some players are never able to play Liszt or Paganini!

  • You mean : MOST players are never able to play Liszt or Paganini! ;)

  • not true. I'm 11 and I can play paganini

  • if you were 11 and could truely play paganini, you would most likley not be on youtube right now.

  • And I am 40 and I can play football

  • Your 11?? call me LOL

  • Very and very cool!!!

  • che roba!

  • Is it possible to upload also first movement?

    which cadenza did he play?

    have fun, it is great!

  • meraviglioso,incantevole

  • vraiment splendide ce violoniste merci alexandre

fais moi en decouvrir tout plein encore !

  • paganinni ,Liszt then who? do you think some one will make a more beautiful deference?

    i hop so...

  • thats very nice..pagannini then liszt. then who?

  • this is the original la campanella ´,very nice ..but liszt make it on piano and gave it a piano soul ..well i play this piece but in deferent way ,,trying to not copying .

  • WahoO j'adOor la version qu'en a fait Liszt, mais d'après Paganini, c'est aussi très beau !!

  • awesome!!

where can u find the violin sheet music for this... if thats possible

    Catherine
