Can someone explain to me why, when I put Flare in elemental defense + Artema, the personage can absorb Tiamat's Drak Flare? I mean, flare isn't an elemental magic. (I have years without playing this game but I remember that by using Flare in elemental defense, it was possible to absorbe the Dark Flare)

dark-flare is non element, just as flare is, in every single final fantasy flare is always a very powerful non-element attack, every final fantasy fan knows that, dark flare cant be absored just try to use things that make you defence higher to try minimise the damage.

The name "Tiamat" refers to a female dragon, right. But our Tiamat might be a male. To me it's just Bahamut in the future corrupted by Ultimecia which supports the "Ultimecia is Rinoa" theory.

@cookieXsword39 In what game? In FF9, the Buster Sword shows as an easter egg in the Lindblum weapon store. In FF10, it's in the game code but only available through gameshark. Same with FF10-2. In FF12, Gilgamesh has it. FF13, Lightning uses a gunblade. That doesn't even particularly look like a gunblade, just a weird foldy thing.

This is silly. I hacked this game for almost a year straight with an Xplorer cartridge, and I eventually got around to using an unknown value search to ascertain which code could control enemy selection, since even random battles choose an enemy, therefore theres a code for all four spaces :) I could fight anything, even the FF8 Dummy enemy (search on here) and I could even get most enemies on the side of the protagonist (though all commands weren't provided, some only attack :( (Unfontunately)

The game shark code just puts that certain character/monster in place of the 3rd 2nd or 1st. What ever you set for magic and junction is what you'll see on your end. Limit breaks unfortunately don't work except for a few. Maybe it needs extra coding? Who knows, someone with more time and that knows how to find em should try this.

This is just a guess, but would I be right in imagining that the only limits that would work are those that don't involve a character-specific animation?

Blue Magic / Slots would just call up the enemy's default 'casting' animation, whereas something like Zell's break movements would have no equivalent, and the game would crash. Am I correct?

Exactly right, but not necessarily. Just because it's a simple magic animation doesn't mean that limit break will work. It could cause the game to either freeze for a few seconds or possible minutes or just hang. Sometimes the other thing that happens is that no animation happens but you see the inflicted damage number on the enemy.

More specifically, Bahamut is the king of dragons... Tiamat is the queen. but in this instance, yes they are opposed sides of the same coin so to speak... though normally Tiamat is depicted as a dragon with many heads...(normally in final fantasy games at least.)
