It is basic knowledge that you should avoid a new Windows OS until the first Service Pack comes out and fixes all the critical mistakes.

I personally love XP but I only got it after SP1. The next two SPs greatly improved XP as well but I can't imagine ever using XP in its initial form.

Remember, Microsoft considers a OS ready for release when it has less than 500 bugs.

Don't listen to Jarige2, his mind is obviously still stuck in the first two weeks of Vista's release when it was plagued with huge problems.

Unfortunately (for him) almost every major issue with Vista was corrected since then, and 95% of users running the thing (who know what they're doing and aren't stupid computer illiterates) will have no issue with it.

As for 7, it's a tremendous leap over Vista, has N-O-N-E of the problems that plagued Vista, and runs faster and better out of the box.

Well then that's your prerogative. It's perfectly fine to like another OS. Some people will swear by Linux. Others Leopard. The problem with Leopard is that, unless you build a successful Hackintosh system, you can't install it on any other hardware except Mac proprietary hardware.

Because of that, you're forced to pay Apple's foolish and insulting price tags for what is.....essentially....garbage hardware.

Yuck, I hate the interface from Office 2007... yeah it makes changing fonts a little easier, but then it makes you search for a 10 minutes to find other functions that they have hid deep within some random tab... though this one seems a little more straight forward only having 2 tabs.

The new calculator functions seem pretty cool though.

You should be able to do daily tasks on win 7 with only 1gb ram.

Xp: 150mb ram

Vista: 299mb

Win 7: 216mb

I guess i'll find out in a week or so whether I regret this move with the times. But ram is so cheap.

I have just recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate, but there are random freezes. These are "short" freezes and only last about 12-18 seconds. Most of the time, the freezes just crash my computer. My computer meets the recommended standards for Windows 7. Any solutions?

Why does Windows seem like Mac? The new taskbar looks similar to Mac's. The photo program is similar to iPhoto and the Gadgets are similar to the Widgets in Mac. I'm not against Windows or Mac, just wondering why they are so similar and why Windows is "stealing" Macs stuff, just modifying and renaming the software. Am I just misinformed?
