  • Fantastic intro! The theme was composed for Danny Elfman. Absolutly marvelous!

  • I used to watch this all the time when I was a kid. Hell yes!

  • "Trust me, i know what i am doing"

    9 months later...

    "-FFFFFFFUUUUUUU"

  • brings back childhood memories

  • Man it wasn't long ago I was asking my Dad "What was that programme called withe guy who used to sleep with his gun under his pillow?" And he couldn't remember and it just came to me the other day. This used to be on Sunday night in the UK along with V and Spitting Image and my Dad would let me stay up late and watch them even though I had school next morning. I would've been 9 at the time and can only remember the end of the episode where Sledge accidently detonates the nuke. Classic TV.

  • This show was legend!!

  • Tosh sent me here.

  • this show was definitely ahead of its time. the damn network didn't even have a set time for this show, it changed all the time. i guess the humor just went over the exec's heads. haha. classic tv. got all two seasons on DVD.

  • Too bad it ain't on Blu-Ray :(

  • This show was hilarious, I loved it. This was the only decade I enjoyed watching prime time tv shows. I don't watch what's on tv anymore.

  • 1 disliker = got shot by Hammers gun...

  • LOL he's doing that cowboy gun spinning, but aim like James Bond. I watched this show on 90s. VERY COOL series.

  • some of the writers for this show went on to write for the simpsons.

  • The creator of this show, Alan Spencer is making a new show next year. It's in a similar vein to Sledge Hammer

  • Awesome!!! They don't make em like that anymore.

  • This show was TOO FUNNY! I still remember clips from this classic!

hammer trys to disarm a bomb, the crowd around the bomb is yelling: lets go hammer lets go, lets go hammer lets go. ONLY his chief yells: lets go BOMB, lets go! :)

  • why cant there be more cop shows like this???

  • the only thing I remember about this show was that the the peephole in his front door had crosshairs...

  • the first time i seen this intro i mean 1986- you just stared at it, it was shocking and awkward yet golden- sadly i only saw a few episodes-

  • Once, I saw Hammer punch-out a huge poisonous cobra.... with one punch! Incredible!

  • Totally forgot about this show

    Sledgehammer was brilliant

  • I have David Rasche's Autograph and keep it in it's envelope that it came in way back in 1988 with season's 1 and 2 of Sledge Hammer.

  • Looks like the star of the show is the gun .

  • I used to think magnum pi said this lol

  • just one word says it all

    "HAMMMMMMMMMMMERRRRRRRR"

  • That bastard put a hole in my screen! :P

  • They should bring this show back the Political correct people would have a field day. Who said we have more freedom now than we used to

  • Comment removed

  • Didn't you hear? The government & media said that. :P

@tasiax It seems that ever since 9-11, we've been steadily losing our freedom. I remember when they would let people watch the planes take off at the airport from outside a security fence. Since then, you can't do that anymore because of "security concerns." Then they started that shit with the TSA. Seems everything they do nowadays to reduce our freedom is because of security concerns.

  • The chauvinism in this show is priceless. You can call him anything, but don't call him a woman!

  • this show is still great. thank god for youtube.

  • Trust me, I know what I'm doing.

  • now this was entertainment!! people who didnt grow up then dont know what they missed.

  • This shows absolutley brilliant!!!

  • he shot the camera man!?

  • Thats a Magnum .44? So awesome.

  • luv it..

  • One of my favorite chase scenes in all of television and cinema was in the episode with Peter Marshall. :-)

  • That music was sooooo cool, nothin like it !!!.

  • The opening theme was composed by a guy just starting out in Hollywood then, Danny Elfman.

Elfman went on to score the first Michael Keaton "Batman" movie, and "Men In Black" among others. Great theme!

  • this fuckin show was legend

  • I know! Does anybody know if its on DVD?

  • @ECOOL76 Anchor Bay Entertainment has both Seasons 1 and 2 of Sledge Hammer! on DVD. The laugh track that was used in Season 1 is removed from the episodes on the DVD set. When creator Alan Spencer pitched Sledge Hammer! to ABC, ABC decided that the show with a laugh track had better results with its test audience. Spencer didn't approve of their idea, and when the series went to DVD, Anchor Bay Entertainment got rid of the laugh track.

  • Always talking to his gun

  • I remeber this was like Get Smart of the 1980s.

  • "Sledge Hammer" at its best was really good. "Get Smart" at its worst was friggin' brilliant.

  • didn't the series end with a huge nuclear explosion that was Hammers fault?

  • Oh God! I used to love this show! I wouldn't pull that trigger if i were you!!!

  • "I don't watch the news,I make the news."

  • david rasche was the shit. never made it big time, but he always just had that goofy, cool guy thing.

  • I still use his qoute with a little bit added

...."TRUST ME KIDS....I KNOW WHAT IM DOING"..

    He rocks!!!! HAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMEEERRR!!!!!
