A beautiful woman that defined the end of shoegaze, the band never got the respect here in the states....... Slow children at play, Grow up to be Slow men at work.
The B-sides of the "500" single (disc two) may be the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, namely "Pudding" and "Shut Up" (both written by Emma). They're nothing less than golden arrows going straight to your heart, even if the same can be said about a lot of Lush songs ("Spooky" remains my favorite album).
From "Ladykillers" disc one : "Ladykillers", "Ex" (sounds a bit like Men At Work : perfect !), "Dear Me" (8-track home demo by Miki alone, another shining gem, believe me), from "Ladykillers" disc 2 : "Carmen", written by both Emma and Miki, plus the divine "Matador" by Phil King and even "Piledriver" (reminding both Midnight Oil and MBV works !)from the late and regretted Phil Acland - he sung in it !
I feel soo fortunate to have seen lush play live as many times as I did. And I do agree, it would be awesome if miki were doing something too. But I did get to see sing sing when they came through and they were great as well.
i like sing-sing, but it is nothing compared to what her and miki could have continued to make. that's what i'm trying to say. maybe i wouldn't i wouldn't have minded the breakup so much if miki continued to make music.
What a loss. this band was just the best. Way years before this song...old old stuff too! Shame. I know they suffered a loss with the suicide, but what a shame.
this band was great! they were truly one in a million. they should have continued after chris' death, his selfish act silenced music we never will have heard. bands have continued through bigger hardships and losses of bigger key members. nobody can be replaced, but time goes on.
