Everything you do you make it look so so easy I have just started and hope you are able to continue to make video's for us beginners. I am working on the centering.
anyone still having trouble: the mindset that works best for me is after you've sealed the clay and know its not coming off, do everythign you can to push it off the wheel with the heel of ur left hand (if right handed). ideally you'll feel the clay center before u actually push it off and this will really help you get a feel for centering the clay. this helped me a lot and i think it would help a lot of people
this really helps! i like that you showed exactly what part of the hand to use. Im a beginner and centering is incredibly frustrating... is it common to lose alot of clay while centering? it always seems to come off on my hands and by the end of my class i'm left with half of what i started with! I that common? how do i avoid it?
this really helps...i have a centering test in my class on the 8th and i have been watching many centering videos...yours is definitely the best! thanks
Thank you so much for this video. I have not thrown on a wheel for a few years. So when I got my kickwheel, I was rusty and could not center. Your video is the best one, very helpful thankyou. Hope that you get to felling better.
Thanks for the video. I'm going to be working on the potters wheel tomorrow in class. Your potters wheel looks new because it spins faster than the ones I've seen and it doesn't make a lot of noise, nice and quiet.
Dear SlTTWO, thanks for the video. Today was my first day on the wheel and I spent two and a half hours just trying to center the clay and coning up and down...did it finally. Your words "everyone has trouble coning at first" -- very helpful. Thanks! Hope you can get to go back to your passion. God bless!
You are very welcome. Life has been kicking me in the pants for the last few months and I have not been able to throw anything, let alone post new videos. I am REALLY hoping for things to get better soon so that I can get back to my passion. Thanks so much for your kind words. :)
@SLTTWO just a quick question does everyone pretty much have to find there own way to center or what? i am learing pottery but I am not too sure about my centering I am only 1 class in
Yes and no. First, learn. Watch your instructor, watch the more experienced people in class, watch videos on youtube. Then, practice, practice, practice. I am going to be putting another centering video up this week. Be sure to watch this one. When you have gathered all of your information and centered hundreds of balls of clay, THEN you will start to develop your own styles and techniques. Hope this helps.
