The most accurate black powder pistol I have EVER shot! Mine which I have had for 15 years has seen over 10,000 rounds through it and is more accurate than most modern pistols. I like to show up my friends at the range with it. 20 grains over a .454 round. Very accurate!
I have an Uberti 1858 with a cartridge conversion cylider in it....can you shoot smokeless cowboy loads or should you stay with BP loads only ?
I have shot it with home poured lead bullets .451 (not balls), and a triple F load of 27 grains and it will group 2-3 inches at 50yds with a rest..it is more accurate @ 50 yds than my Dads Colt 38 target revolver.....but I have never put a cartridge through it..a little nervous
We were experimenting with different amounts of black powder. We tried from 20 all the way around 40 (the manual suggests 25 grains, but it is hard to overload such a small chamber). Surprisingly, our best results were right around 25 grains (I guess they were really suggesting a good amount and not as a safety precaution). When we strayed over 30 grains, the shots become unreliable (even more so than usual! lol) and less than 25 grains just didn't seem to have enough go.
this reminds me of the civil war (on drugs)

never use smokeless, it turns your gun into a handgrenade

With earplugs in it sounds deceptively quiet. Please use earplugs because they are actually pretty percussive up close (ear damage pretty quickly!).
