It has a similiar feel but overall Uprising sounds nothing like the Doctor Who theme tune. I like it because I like Muse and I think a lot of Muse songs would suit Doctor Who.
Honestly I don't see the connection so many people are making. Sure, the synth Muse uses sounds almost the same as the one used in the DW theme song, but besides that, 3 of the notes are the same as the doctor who theme, the rest are all different sound nothing like rest of the theme.
There have been songs out there that copied a lot more than 3 notes from another song.
Seems like a lot of people can't tell the difference from copying a song, and establishing a similar atmosphere as a song.
LOL I'm from Colombia and I got a cd with TV Themes, the Doctor Who one is one of my favorites, and when I hear the intro of the Muse song, the connection was immediate.....I didn't know that this facts is well known.

Not only have Muse (and I'm Not amused!) copied the rift from the Doctor Who theme, but tacked on at the end of this clip is a couple of chords ripped straight off Blondie's "Call Me" .
When I first heard the fragment, I though unconciously of Dr. Who too. I think It could be the Intro for the new Dr. WHO series coming spring 2012 couldn't it?
no. u cant change the dr who theme, even to summat like this. u can play it in different ways n arrangement might be a vit diff over the years, but the tune is so integral and iconic to the series it wud be total sacrilege
tbh get with the changes, I didn't like their new stuff at first but it definately is better than most crap out there by years. They have a unique sound and are good imo but no problem ;)

Lets try this again. I tried this a couple of times late last night and youtube kept swallowing my replies.
Muse's recent stuff sounds like they want to be Pendulum, but without the effort, and pendulum just do a much better job blending soft-rock and electronica.
Muse has their own style of music, and they do a lot of experiments lately. Combination of electronic, rock, and classical is what they're at best. Really, its just people's taste.

Muse copy what the progressive scene did ten years ago and do it badly.
There are already bands that combine and muddle genres and bend them to their own will, and they all do it better than muse.
You associate muse with break-through because you have never heard anything like it before.
Dig deeper. Go back further to the start of the rock/electronica hybrid, and realise it is MUCH older than you think it is and then progress back to modern music.
@lordbaztard so if this makes you hate muse why did you look at a video with muse and doctor who in it? weird chap..and as well as that muse are amazing now...just as good as the showbiz days because they still keep fresh and remember to keep with the generations and gain new fans while maintiaining the old ones...well, the proper fans anyway, as people like you are just idiots
@LiveSingLaughSleep That's a great question. The answer is though I wasn't aware it was a muse track when I clicked the link, someone just linked a youtube link and said it was cool. Given I'm a massive Doctor Fanboy, I clicked the link, but the reason it annoyed me is as Muse denied it was anything of the sort until enough of these videos caught them out.
It is funny though, The most recent doctor who episode started with a Muse track playing in the tardis. That was cute.
wattt tha would be good but i am a massive dr who fan and there is only 1 thing i would chang in all of dr who davdi tennant not leavin i will be crying :'(
I totally thought Dr Who!! It took me til the end of the song to decide that it wasn't Dr Who. Though, I enjoy listening to the song just for the fact that it reminds me of the doctor.
I can hear Dr Who, I'm sure I can. Its a bit like Morecambe and Wise - they are playing all of the Doctor Who notes, just not necessarily in the right order.
ummm... dude I realise that we are not talking about scales or tunes we are talking about how in general it sounds similar to one another... I can tell and i know they use different melodies....
Thats the first thing I thought of when I heard it too XD Dr Who is no doubt going to use one of the new songs somewhere along the line. So is Top Gear I bet, they're great.
MURRAY GOLD, YOU ARE SACKED!!! My girlfriend worships this show, I'm a fan but not a worshipper. I think the beeb should sub this for 1 episode and see if anyone noticed. That would be funny. Can't wait for the 14th!!
