The government is not giving the Church all the money..Catholics are. The Church is worlds largest health care giver, educator and benevolence foundation. They feed more people than Wold Vision, CCF,Unicef,U2 and all the other organizations combined! Does anybody complain about all the other groups that get funding from the government? About the French Revolution, it was the minority Protestants including the Huguenots fueled by Voltaire that shifted power from the Church to the State. The Protestant minority hated the Church and resented its' power. You know 'let them eat cake' and all. It was the Royalty that brought France to the brink of bankruptcy. There was a period there during the Jesuits abolishment by the pope (1773-1814) where they actually used their network of secret societies to conspire against the papacy until they were readmitted in 1814. I suggest you read into the history of that Order.
