engine temp gauge reads well below "c" when the engine is cold. it wasn't that cold, but still not great for the engine.

Seriously, the new R3 has a variable rev limiter to prevent it being used too harshly when cold. In addition to this the temperature guage is reading the coolant temperature and not the engine temperature therefore you cannot guarantee that even if it reads warm, your engine is warm enough. Bad language is not necessary. Your coolant temperature guage reading under Cold leads me to believe that you have only just started your engine prior to recording. A 6200rpm gear change is not good here.
