Before that the amazing Phillip Bloom came in and theirs been so many more but i would be here for ever and Im still only in first year and we get taught but people that have just come out of the business, basically the best... i really would recommended this course for anyone who is looking to work behind the camera!!!
Hey i was thinking about doing a short course at Met but to be fair its soooooo over priced Im now at Hertfordshire Uni doing a BA (Hons) in Film and TV and I can honestly say there's never a dull day, you get lessons in everything behind camera, we have our own editing suits we only use FCP, we can take out kit when ever we want and we have really cool guest lectures last week the main production head of tigeraspect came in and gave us a 2 hour lecture on budgets..
Hey, I'm going to the Met Film School for three weeks in the summer and I was just wondering what you did afterwards? Like have you gone to uni or what? And thanks, this was a really useful vid :)
@murraythehotscot I'm going to University this year (September) to do Film Production then after I hope to do an MA in editing or directing at a film school or something. Good for you, Met Film School's really great- what course are you doing?
@gbfilmproductions Ahh right, that's great. I'm going to do the three-week editing course and trying to decide whether or not to go to uni or whatever next year. I guess some qualifications would always come in handy...
I've looked into the Met Film School, In fact very interested in it as a University Option, is that something that interests you? Also the course says that you have to be over the age of 18 to take it, is that true?
I've not applied there for University this year, but it's a great place to study. And I was almost 18 when I went there, so I guess it doesn't matter, I was 18 in like 4 months after it.
I think that if you have talent you don't need any school to learn it! In any case it is good to learn new things that in you own you would ever know! ;)
I have a question... there's a huge difference with iMovie and Final Cut? I mean, features, skips, you know, if there is a big update from iMovie? I ask you, because I want to update to Final Cut... but if it does not worth... I will stay with iMovie! ;)
I kind of agree with you, but film school did help me alot with how to direct actors and to shoot a video with a crew, etc.
I chose to go from iMovie to Final Cut for the features but learnt how to use it through the film school on the course. It depends what kind of films you're making I guess. If they're just quick little ones, you're fine with iMovie, although now I use Final Cut for small films too!
look at it this way- ( i feel like i need to offer the explanation my professors share)
most film schools can only cover the basics over a 4 year period, and can cover a specific area in film over 2-3 years, 40 hour weeks. then consider what they charge for this (about 20 hours total). i am, however, looking forward to seeing your work after this. hope to see some new shorts soon!
beware of these courses, many ..(most) are scams, and money grabbers for their university programs. in fact i haven't heard of one that isn't. i had a friend take a few courses, learned some basic technical/operating skills, but nothing that couldn't have been learned online. interacting with the people is a good skill (which can be done outside of this), but be careful with these. the price you pay isn't worth what they teach - in the literal sense
I wanna go to brit school what is the uk's most famous proforming arts and media school. They have a recording studio, a real radio station, tv studio and are owned by the brit awards so the studios get to go to the brits! lol How awesome is that
too bad i don't live in the GBR. I would love to go to that camp. I went to this camp in the U.S and we did shooting. Called iD Tech. That's a cool camera!
Looks great exept you are too wide if you know what i mean. dont expand your vlog bit grab the corners and loose a bit of the top and bottom. Otherwise its awesome!
I've done two week-long courses at the Film and Television institute in Fremantle, Western Australia and I learnt sooo many new things from doing so, I recommend that anyone who is interested in film making should do these youth courses at universities, you learn tonnes!
EALING? that's where I live.

looks like it was recorded in 4:3 and converted to 16:9 in final cut.... next time record in 16:9 or do it all in 4:3 to avoid distortion.

I actually also took their 'Acting For Film' course.
I have no interest in being an actor, but i would HIGHLY recommend anyone who wants to direct to take the course.
There is no more valuable lesson to working with actors then to put yourself directly into their shoes.
Can't wait to see the shorts. :-)
