I got mine done with the hamstring tendon. I'm back on my feet (with a tiny limp) at a week an two days today! hurts like a bitch when your trying to get to sleep and the pills don't work for me ='(
@TheXavierLee hey i will be on my 2 month mark tomorrow the 13th. the surgery is really worth it, i rode my regular bike just fine and i can run around good, they just dont want ,me on the football field, if i work hard enough i might be able to make it.
@TheXavierLee You for sure should ask about it, they're pricey, but SO worth it. And one of my friends also got the surgery, so he gave me this bag that his doctor gave him to shower. It was just a big long rubber bag that had a velcro strap at the top. but you could do it with a garbage bag tied tightly at the top.
@TheXavierLee Ya mine hurt SO much for about a week. I was on really strong drugs for a week, then moved down to just tylonol 3 which is still pretty strong. I wasn't walking until about 2 weeks after. I got mine on the 10th of May, and I'm walking pretty well now with the occasional limp. A criocuff is a water pump that goes around your knee. My doctor made me buy one, but he was a really good doctor.
@TheXavierLee I did get my surgery, and it went really well. I'm already on the bike and working the tredmil at physio! They said mine looks so good because I'm kind of young to be getting it done. The swelling is still there, but the bruising is all gone! Good luck with yours, I hope you got a criocuff. It speeds up the recovery A LOT.
i'm fifteen and i'm getting my surgery in exactly one month. i hear that it hurts more AFTER the surgery than it does when the injury actually happens..
@CooleyCheers Well, I don't think it hurt more, it was basically the same as when I first hurt it, it's like starting over again. But it will heal soon enough, just do what you can to rehab it and keep it moving. When you're ready. Good luck!
@CooleyCheers ..Yes it hurts alot after the surgery be repair for the pain and lots of medicine. My son had his about 3 days ago and he is 13 yrs and he is in alot of pain and he takes so much medicine and he cant sleep at night. And his back hurts for some odd reason so I dont know if it because of the crunches. He just started his rehab and he cries because it feels so uncomfortable and painful..So good luck and I hope it goes well..
I went for the allograph, it's a patella tendon from a cadaver. Was back on my feet pretty quick, but if you're a young athlete, you might want to consider the autograph with the patella. Although, I was playing volleyball last week and had the first real test on that leg, and it held up fine, scared the crap out of me for a second, but ... I'm OK.
i wnt wit the patella, man this shit is painful. what day did you take the wrappin off? i think u was supposed to do it onthe 3rd. did u get the pcm machine?
did you go with the patilla, hell im 25, and i got get back on the field next year. Tore mine in july, and just been doin everything i can to keep the leg strong until surgery. now im gone have to start all over next month but i got full range of a motion so thats a plus. but which method did you got with?
okay im only 13 14 and i have to get acl surgery.i was running the hurdles in track my knee gave out on me and twisted.most i ever felt.but like i'm worried cuz i'm soo active.so i was just wondering first i have to get physical therapy 3 times a week cuz i can barely bend my knee past 90 degree and i cant straighten it with out it giving out on me.so i was wondering.after u found out that u had to get surgey was it like a month or something before u actually got the surgery?
Yeah, the injury happened in September and the surgery happened the following January. I went through rehab before the surgery and after. You'll see as your leg gets stronger that you'll feel almost normal after a while. Tearing the acl doesn't stop your leg from working, it's just there to prevent injuries and the leg from twisting to far from side to side. But it obviously has a breaking point. After the surgery you have to start over, but, you're young, you'll be ok. Good luck.
okay..well i talked to my doctor..finally and he said once i can walk again that he will try to get me in for the surgery as soon as possible..cuz i wanna be back next year for track season..and my life is a very fast paced high active one...i hope i can heal fast..but my doc said that since i'm a young girl thats very healthy i should heal fast...write back..
i tore my acl when i was 14 as well. im now 15 and just got my surgery 3 days ago. you might have to wait untill you grow all of the way before you can get it like i did. the only difference was that my knee was very stable without the acl. i could still skateboard almost like i normally could only i had to wear a knee brace (which helped alot). my knee did give out about 4 times within that year and i ended up tearing my meniscus from that. didnt get surg for that though. youll be ok!
i had acl surgery and i couldn't bend my knee at a 90 degree angle for two weeks. I had my patella taken for the reconstruction... i'm assuming from where the scars are you did not. How fast was the recovery?
It was pretty quick, I had the allograft though, and that's why. This was about 3-5 days after the surgery and was basically normal or capable of normal walking within a week. That's why I opted for the allograft.
I had this surgery one week ago and i can bend my knee about as far as you. Im going into rehab tommorrow, any tips? I also had the allograf so they say its less painful. P.S. Mine didnt look as bad as yours!
hi, next week i´m having this surgery on my knee, i see that you bend yours 90 degrees, was that the day before you had it done? when you were able to walk without crutches?
Hey, it was three or four days after surgery. I got the allograf, so, that's not as extreme as the autograf, was able to get "back on my feet" relatively quickly. Only used crutches for about four days or so. Was a bit stiff, but, still able to bend it.
No problem, I wish you the best in your recovery. It will be longer, but I had a friend who had that done, and if you're ready and willing to move forward, you'll be back on your feet in no time.
pretty messy mate, i had a acl reconstruction may time and now had a 6inch scar down the front of my leg with key hole scars on my thigh!! but if you gotta have surgery, make sure you get some sweet scar!!!
She's doing pretty good...oh my god, the video is playing again. It looks as if a starving giraffe has been shooting heroin straight into its emaciated knee cap. I can't look any more, but I can't look away.
Man I just had surgery.it been about 3 days now.and my legs feel like I have no life in it
