Sturm is actually Tabithat from Days of Ruin. DoR was set on Earth and after the last mission, Penny says she was alive but she didn't know where. DoR was set before AW1.

The other 3 AW games are on Wars World, not Earth - hence Sturm being the mystery invader from another world.

I always thought Sturm was an Escaped Nazi war criminal, and that was why he wore the mask. But in AW2 they suggested maybe he's an alien or something...but I still don't know for sure.
