  • reminds me of an indy version of kurt cobain

  • @BootyBot hahha thats great and yeah i agree

  • my hero

  • How is he even the least bit surprised that he broke the drumstick. He was jamming out like no other. FAN-EFFING-TASTIC. I have seen him live 4 times and he rocks my socks! Genius is right!

  • @BeddieVedder awe man! I've only seen him twice! :( To be fair, he hardly ever comes to town.

  • Listen to his album. GENIUS!!

  • Thanks so much for filming and sharing this. Pure brlliance

  • I feel like growing a beard and destroying my apartment after watching this!

  • He played this song at my grandmas 90th birthday...miss you grandma.

  • he looks and plays like an absolute mad man. and i love it :)

  • beards the best bit:)

  • WOW fucking great

  • oh this is so crazy

  • This is so fucking awes0me

  • He's a musical badass who looks like a mix between (ironically) Liam Gallagher and Joe Goddard from Hot Chip.

  • best live act ever! saw him at falls fest

  • whats that thing he is playing?

  • saw him at southbound, he destroyed his drumset. Literally

  • Sometimes in the shadow of over bloated performances on shows like the rock n roll hall of fame, there is a venue where musical genius, rawness, honesty, beauty and just innovation explodes for a small crowd of people who are thankful they didn't stay home and watch television. This night must have been one of those nights. I envy the crowd who got to see this and am thankful to InK for posting it. Brilliant stuff

  • Do yourself a favor and SEE THIS GUY LIVE.

  • I saw these guys in KC open up for Wilco, they're so amazing. I wish i had half the talent that Liam Finn has. He's a musical genius.

  • Saw this guy open for Eddie Vedder this summer and was blown away. I loved almost everything he did that night but even with the stuff I didn't love, I couldn't help but be impressed by his passion and creativity. He's like a musical mad scientist, and I mean that in the best possible way.

  • I agree completely and felt the same way when I saw him. I was simply amazed the entire time I was watching him and didn't believe what I was seeing

  • Fantastic!

  • EPIIIIIIC!

  • what a animal

  • epic. can anyone tell me the name of the song he goes into at the end?

  • That'd be Wise Man, from I'll Be Lightning.

  • thanks alot Geffen! I'm off to check that one out!

  • Fucking ace.

  • i love him

  • I believe the rectangular instrument is a custom-made Tafelberg 24-string drum guitar invented by Yuri Landman. Unless I'm mistaken, the only other one is existence was made for Meric Long of The Dodos. Although now that I'm looking at it, this instrument seems considerably smaller than the Tafelberg, so ??

  • it's a 2004 proto of the Tafelberg:)

just 6 strings instead of 24

    YL

  • Thanks for this information, Yuri! The instrument sounds incredibly good, and Liam makes good use of it.

  • That is that rectangle instrument?

  • I mean.. "What is that rectangle instrument?"

    Whoops.

  • this is almost what youd call Punk, a blaitant disregard for pretty plastic pop and corporate bullshit, Liam Finn rocks and his live shows are definetly impossible to capture in a recording studio, rock n roll will never die

  • is this a joke?

  • definately amazing life... saw him a week ago and was beyond impressed... i prefer him live as to his recorded stuff... the recorded stuff lacks the passion that i love of his...

  • YEAH! now that's what I call passion! :)

  • Liam is great! Cant wait to see him with Eddie Vedder this summer.

  • is he even a drummer?

  • yeah

he plays somethin crazy like 70 instruments

he said he could express himself the best on drums

  • Are you kidding me? "is he even a drumme?" He's talented as hell and more original than most artists out there today. It's refreshing to see someone who's a true individual in their music*

  • Put your panties back on, the question wasn't an insult. I didn't know he played drums. "Is he even a drummer" means does he regularly play drums or was this a rare spontaneous moment of brilliance.

  • Lol sorry, I'm really bad at misinterpreting the directed tones in comments =[

  • u can apriciate liam more by him performing live!

  • liam u do nz proud...u r a musical genius with a beard

  • why does this not have millions of views.. Genius!!
