How is he even the least bit surprised that he broke the drumstick. He was jamming out like no other. FAN-EFFING-TASTIC. I have seen him live 4 times and he rocks my socks! Genius is right!
Sometimes in the shadow of over bloated performances on shows like the rock n roll hall of fame, there is a venue where musical genius, rawness, honesty, beauty and just innovation explodes for a small crowd of people who are thankful they didn't stay home and watch television. This night must have been one of those nights. I envy the crowd who got to see this and am thankful to InK for posting it. Brilliant stuff
Saw this guy open for Eddie Vedder this summer and was blown away. I loved almost everything he did that night but even with the stuff I didn't love, I couldn't help but be impressed by his passion and creativity. He's like a musical mad scientist, and I mean that in the best possible way.
I believe the rectangular instrument is a custom-made Tafelberg 24-string drum guitar invented by Yuri Landman. Unless I'm mistaken, the only other one is existence was made for Meric Long of The Dodos. Although now that I'm looking at it, this instrument seems considerably smaller than the Tafelberg, so ??
this is almost what youd call Punk, a blaitant disregard for pretty plastic pop and corporate bullshit, Liam Finn rocks and his live shows are definetly impossible to capture in a recording studio, rock n roll will never die
definately amazing life... saw him a week ago and was beyond impressed... i prefer him live as to his recorded stuff... the recorded stuff lacks the passion that i love of his...
Are you kidding me? "is he even a drumme?" He's talented as hell and more original than most artists out there today. It's refreshing to see someone who's a true individual in their music*
Put your panties back on, the question wasn't an insult. I didn't know he played drums. "Is he even a drummer" means does he regularly play drums or was this a rare spontaneous moment of brilliance.
reminds me of an indy version of kurt cobain

He's a musical badass who looks like a mix between (ironically) Liam Gallagher and Joe Goddard from Hot Chip.
