Man, the controls are as glitchy as hell. It takes the game a second to respond to me moving my mouse, which is something I have never seen before on a game that runs at 60 fps. The AI are stupid, but that goes both ways. The characters are COMPLETE IDIOTS. They talk about bars and prostitution in the middle of a fight, which does not really add to the realism. And the worst part is: The characters consider me an idiot, repeating shit 5 times which I have already grasped by looking at the game.
i picked this game up for 10 bucks thinking by the cover it was a shooter if it was it would actually be good but it's not and i can't change that or get my money back :(

This guy is a n00b, you don't group select in stormrise like other simpleminded rts games, you pick a "tank scout" have him go ahead and use the follow me command to your battalion behind you. path finding works then.

One complaint: at the skirmish screen, you cant put AI on YOUR team only the other one. When i played the game for the first time, i found myself putting 8 AI on the other team and then getting gang raped by all of the AI. How do you fuck up a simple menu?
u would think that creative assembly would have sent out a huge patch to fix the game by now, the game had potential but failed in the attempt, here's an idea why not try a RTS game were u can take control of someone in the squad in case u want a more direct approach with what that squad is doing and can assign extra squads onto that one for added fire power, giving the game a more hands on approach and making a single mech unit for example a much stronger fighter while under a player's control.
iv played the pc version and 360 version and i gotta say that i will never play it again. It is buggy as hell, the whip select is a useless idea and the fighting itself is just dull. i find rts games from the mid and late 90's funner then this.
I just played the game on the PC, and I completely agree with everything in this review. Every command I issued had an almost one second delay before it was executed, and the pathfinding is pathetic. Since when can a 3 story mech not jump a 10 ft step? I could go on, but suffice to say try Company of Heroes or the Total War Series if you want a real RTS.
Unless you're a console owner. Then as far as RTS goes you're pretty much screwed.

The fact that their corruption has only seen public light once does not exclude the possibility of it happening in the silent either. After all, wouldn't they have learned to tread more lightly after the uproar the Gerstmann episode caused?

i disagree with most of this review. the pathfinding is not that bad,the only reason some units don't go where you tell them to right away is because the path is blocked by other units. Also, i had no trouble at all using whip select. if units are too far away just whip to a closer unit until you can select the right unit, its not that hard.I must agree that you sometimes cant tell why you're taking damage however.
if your not sure you want to buy it just rent it for a buck or two

Damn, he's really ripping this apart, over some pretty common problems. Pathfinding, has always been an issue in RTS's. Ranged units from time to time WILL just roll right up on their target, that has also happened to me in other games i.e. Starcraft, Command and Conquer. Missing anim are indeed a pain, but again common. These could just be my expeirences but, these complaints seem pretty trivial to me because, I've encountered them before, and it hasn't ruined the game for me.
i agree with both chopper and powerarmor just because the controls suck for 30 minutes or so does not mean the game sucks and the graphics alone make this game look awesome (besides the missing animations). Screw the guy in the review and try the game your self and make your own decision about the game, not on just what the fat bastard has to say and it's sad to hear the patch canceled :,(.
yeah man, the game has all the compoents of rts (okay no base building here but the power-node thing is cool) and it has even more to offer. the line-of-sight feature is amazing. its much more strategic if you only can see what your units are able to see. Btw you cant just rush someone like in C&C ! (rush = annoying as hell) in my opinion, it really IS the best rts on console.. not in evry point but the core gameplay is fantastic. that the patch has been canceled is a sad thing :(

The grafics are cool -- the only thing i really dont like is that there are animations missing. in that point fat reviewer kevin is right. There is just so much to learn here....many reviewers just didn't take the time to understand what CA was trying to accomplish. I've played thousands of CNC skirmishes, and Stormrise has all the components of great RTS, but you can't suck. Once one asshole made a bad review, the rest just blindly followed. shame! I have an xbox 360 and currently own C&C3, C&C Red Alert 3, Universe At War, Tom Clancy's EndWar and Halo Wars.
I find these games to be very enjoyable.
I know what you're thinking though, the controls. Halo Wars, EndWar and Universe at War are all ver use to control and use. Command & Conquer is a bit of a pain with the controller(spl?) but still useable. An RTS on a console is very do-able (and playable) but people just dont want to try it.
This review was a tad harsh I mean the whip select is pretty annoying and sending your units to attack is really stupid but I think with a patch or two the game could be a whole lot better. The main thing I hate is the pathfinding and the fact that ranged units will right up on their target then start attacking. I'm actually stuck on the 2nd level for this fact. I have the Sai caught in crossfire as they send wave after wave but I cannot advance because they have a turret that is well placed.

All RTS are like Baby projects and you DO need to keep an eye on every troop and not have them crowd together.

CA always has trouble with pathfinding. if anyone has done sieges in total war and tried moving around in a city, it is a pain.

I can see why people hate this game... but the fact is, some people like it. I like it. Yes, it has bugs, but we can overlook them. A shame that the Gears of War crowd cannot look at a game that is different.
Also, will people fuck off saying how this game is shit. Don't like it? Don't watch its goddamn videos, or read its reviews. Or criticise people for liking it.

Doesnt know what hes talkin about this game rocks and the few problems it has can easily be fixed by a simple update. all he did in this review was focus on the bad points there are far more good points in the game wich he didnt mention. terrible reviewer he should be fired.

No, the game is pretty shit and thats why it sells sod all - I should know as I have to try and sell the things. Glad some people like throwing money down the drain though. Thank goodness or CA would be out of buissness.

i disagree with most of this review. the pathfinding is not that bad,the only reason some units don't go where you tell them to right away is because the path is blocked by other units. Also, i had no trouble at all using whip select. if units are too far away just whip to a closer unit until you can select the right unit, its not that hard.I must agree that you sometimes cant tell why you're taking damage however.
if your not sure you want to buy it just rent it for a buck or two

Damn, he's really ripping this apart, over some pretty common problems. Pathfinding, has always been an issue in RTS's. Ranged units from time to time WILL just roll right up on their target, that has also happened to me in other games i.e. Starcraft, Command and Conquer. Missing anim are indeed a pain, but again common. These could just be my expeirences but, these complaints seem pretty trivial to me because, I've encountered them before, and it hasn't ruined the game for me.

i agree with both chopper and powerarmor just because the controls suck for 30 minutes or so does not mean the game sucks and the graphics alone make this game look awesome (besides the missing animations). Screw the guy in the review and try the game your self and make your own decision about the game, not on just what the fat bastard has to say and it's sad to hear the patch canceled :,(.

yeah man, the game has all the compoents of rts (okay no base building here but the power-node thing is cool) and it has even more to offer. the line-of-sight feature is amazing. its much more strategic if you only can see what your units are able to see. Btw you cant just rush someone like in C&C ! (rush = annoying as hell) in my opinion, it really IS the best rts on console.. not in evry point but the core gameplay is fantastic. that the patch has been canceled is a sad thing :(

i totally agree with POWERarmor333... i am enjoying this game, especially the skirmish matches. The grafics are cool -- the only thing i really dont like is that there are animations missing. in that point fat reviewer kevin is right. BUT the rest hes talking is total garbage. btw OF COURSE YOU CAN SET YOUR OWN RALLY POINTS! and the controls are great and the pathfinding isnt that horrible. All in all a baaaad review. shame on gamespot.

There is just so much to learn here....many reviewers just didn't take the time to understand what CA was trying to accomplish. I've played thousands of CNC skirmishes, and Stormrise has all the components of great RTS, but you can't suck. Once one asshole made a bad review, the rest just blindly followed. shame! They caused the patch to be canceled. Way to ruin gaming.

i wish this review was on the net the day the game was released i bought the game and within 3 hours i returned it it was the most horrible game i've played and the only reviews i could find are from people that have never played the game just read about it (found that out after i bought it, always read to the end)

Ok i had credit card in hand and was just typing my details into the purchase form and i thought hey hang on lets just see what you tube has to offer on this and then i watched this and well guess what, you guys save me having to spend 700 south african rands booya! This game has definitly got some enormous potential though, if it was designed right it'd be a very addictive game

A lot of console gamers like RTS games.
I have an xbox 360 and currently own C&C3, C&C Red Alert 3, Universe At War, Tom Clancy's EndWar and Halo Wars.
I find these games to be very enjoyable.
I know what you're thinking though, the controls. Halo Wars, EndWar and Universe at War are all ver use to control and use. Command & Conquer is a bit of a pain with the controller(spl?) but still useable. An RTS on a console is very do-able (and playable) but people just dont want to try it.

This review was a tad harsh I mean the whip select is pretty annoying and sending your units to attack is really stupid but I think with a patch or two the game could be a whole lot better. The main thing I hate is the pathfinding and the fact that ranged units will right up on their target then start attacking. I'm actually stuck on the 2nd level for this fact. I have the Sai caught in crossfire as they send wave after wave but I cannot advance because they have a turret that is well placed.

I guess he can't select units because he's a dumb ass...he expects there to be just one button so he can select everyone and rush people..sound like strategy? I think not, to all who are dissing this game, especially jacobscamelltoe, you and your fanboy ass can take halo wars and shove it. The only bad part about this game is that it has a few bugs, and retards can't play. I guess you have to pay for a good review from this site..
